I thought Taki was confirmed to be playable in this game on the SoulCalibur wikia!

does anyone know how old voldo is in this game.

voldo is around 67 - 68. he was 50 in SCIV so I just added 17 years. Maxi would be around 45.

I really suspect they will pull out the "Soul Edge stopped them from ageing" card for Voldo, Maxi and Tira.

I am still shocked Maxi is in. Of everyone he seemed the most likely to be got rid of. Always preferred Li Long though.

All I really need now is Cervantes.

Zwei is easily the best of the new cast, IMO. He looks the coolest and looks loads of fun to play.

The only thing I hate about Zwei is when he says, "Show 'em who's boss," I feel he should be putting on a fedora and pulling out a tommy gun to bump off some rum-runners edging in on his turf. It's like the game jumped straight from the 16th century to 1925. (To be fair though, almost everything I've heard characters say in-game makes me cringe.)

Otherwise, he looks... fair.

I'm really happy with how they took inspiration from SC3 for Tira's outfit. She still has some of the harlequin elements from SC4, which I'm not fond of, but her stitched up top looks HOT.

Note to NRS, THIS is how you debut new and returning characters. Not with one piddley render every 2 weeks, and vids for only like one-fifth of the cast.

I'm still not feeling this game. All I'm really excited for is the create a character mode.

I'm not feeling it either, and I was preaching the gospel of the Soul Calibur franchise back when it was on the original Playstation and went by Soul Edge/Blade.

I'm disappointed that in the nearly 20 year jump, all the revealed characters don't look a single day older than they did in SC4. What's the point of jumping ahead if you're just going to make them the same? I'm starting to think they only did it because they wanted Sophitia's kids to be fighters... and I already don't like them very much.

I'm just not feeling the soul burn on this one. Feels... well, uninspired. Rushed. Compromised. It doesn't excite me. Nothing about it inspires me. Nothing new. Nothing bold. Nothing daring. Nothing justifying the nearly two-decade time leap. Nothing gameplay-wise I've seen to impress. No screenshots that don't look like they could be from the prior game. The character designs themselves went from "realistic" in the earliest games to "over-designed" and goofy in these new games.

I just don't know; maybe I changed. Maybe the series changed. Regardless, I can still play Soul Blade, Calibur, Calibur II, and Calibur III and get excited, but SCIV was a letdown, and I haven't seen a single thing in this new game worth getting excited over.

... Unless you count Pokemon girl trainers doing Taki cosplay.

Character creation all the way. That is literally ALL I did in SCIV.... I didn't even play the ones I made more than once either, hehe.

I agree with the general mehness.

The 2 decade leap was pointless. I can understand wanting to keep the most iconic characters (Ivy, Mitsurugi, Siegfried) but they brought back some of the dead wood already.

Next we'll be seeing Rock.

Plus the roster is a rumoured 25-30 with a possible half oldies and half newbies. We're already seen Siegfried, Ivy, Mitsurugi, Voldo, Hilde, Tira, Maxi, and Nightmare will be in. We've only seen 4 newbies and only one of them isn't an old character with a new skin. (admittedly I have heard that one of the kids plays nothing like any old sword and shield character the other one is apparently exactly like Cassandra)

At the moment it seems this game is going to be saved by the new critical edge system.

I have always loved Soul Calibur and I will get this one and I will probably love it. But I can't help thinking that it peaked with SC2 and with SC3 they got sloppy with the finishing touches and its been like that ever since.

I do maintain that SC3 is still one of the best looking and sounding fighters though.

Hmm...I've always really liked Soul Calibur, I started playing it during Soul Calibur 2, missed 3 due to not having the system. I just got Soul Calibur 4, it's not bad, but it doesn't intrigue me like the 2nd game did.

As has been said by many, it feels like 4, not many changes or improvements that I've seen, I usually don't have a problem with heritage characters (i.e. character who take another character's fighting style and have some type of relationship to them, but replace them), but I think it can be overdone, I think Tekken has the best balance of that.

Taki's being replaced by that blonde chick? Very shocked that Taki is one of the casualties of this new game.

I dunno if Talim or Raphael has been confirmed, but those are my two peeps, if the roster is half new and half old, that's a cool compromise, but if they were serious about doing that, they should have the majority of newbies have unique fighting styles, not copy and pastes.

... I'm really hoping they break the mold and bring Setsuka back. Ivy does not age, and apparently Tira doesn't either, but if one girl could pull off the 'older woman', it's Setsuka... I'm not going to settle for Setsuka's young pupil... That's like taking a story out of the trash can, smoothing out the wrinkles, cutting off the part that's drenched in garbage juice, then presenting it as a finished product.

This 'Viola' is hideous.

The cape works by itself, the corset works by itself, the claw works by itself, but together they look like poo. I don't need to go into detail about that damned skirt.... Seriously, fuck that skirt, and fuck those lace stockings. Every character reveal is just making me a Bitter Betty.

You have Dampierre in SC: Broken Destiny who had two switchblades. Other than that I cant think of anyone else.

Astaroth? I like the guy but its another example of dead wood.

Not sure on the newbie.

She looks better in those screenshots. Love the pearls and the moths in her design, but the spiderwebs are silly.... And the skirt is still a fresh baked slice of fan service. I'm kind of hoping the customization allows you to remove the cloak and skirt but still keep the pearls in her hair... In SCIV you had to use the shitty up-for-grabs-could be anyone hair on custom looks.

I don't think it's possible to say something that has already been said in a previous post, but I am completely unimpressed with SCV so far. SCIV was pretty bad, but at least I could have fun revisiting my favorite characters. So far, that's not even true. I mained Seung Mina. If she's not in, I really don't have a reason to give a fuck about this game.

And even if she is in, I'm not buying another unbalanced broken Soul Calibur. Did they even patch the last one?

It was mentioned a while back on Twitter by Daishi Odashima that we will probably see Xianhua's daughter sometime this month. New characters are supposed to be revealed also.

Just remembered it.
