I liked DBZ at first. I was always a fan of Piccolo and Trunks. I still love Trunks' intro into the DBZ saga. It doesn't get more badass than single-handedly killing the guy who caused Goku over 20+ episodes of frustration to just blow him to pieces like it was cheesecake in the span of five minutes. Trunks was always my favorite because I think he led the hardest life. He never knew his father (for better or worse), lost all his friends, and his dearest friend/mentor was killed protecting him. Unlike the normal DBZ timestream, he was the world's last hope, and watching him grow stronger was a joy. I never expected him to surpass his dad, but he did and came back to kick the crap out of the androids and Cell. That was wicked. I always wondered what happened after that, though... surely, even in the alternate future, more troubles came up. We never really learned just how strong Trunks could have become, but between the biker jacket, the sword, the pony-tail, and his bulging muscles, he was the coolest.
Piccolo I liked, too... until after the Cell games... which is always when I stopped watching. The series had overstayed its welcome, I thought. I just didn't know when to let it end! It's like Mortal Kombat! Will they just stay dead? Lol. But, prior to the Buu Saga, I liked Piccolo. He was a great fighter, the second strongest on earth at the start. He killed Radditz, died for Gohan, came back and beat the snot out of Frieza (for a while), helped take out the immortal Garlic Jr., and beat the crap out of Android 17 and Imperfect Cell. After that, he became a joke character of sorts. Too bad. Fatality.

Well, originally Toriyama wanted to end DBZ after the conclusion of the Cell Games, leaving Goku dead, and Gohan being the earth's next great protector. But the fans wanted more, so Toriyama decided to do a few more seasons of the show/manga, thus the Buu Saga. Or so the story goes.

Anyway, I always felt that that was why the Buu saga never seemed as inspired as the rest of the series. Although it was cool seeing Goku and Vegeta going at it again. Vegeta kicking Buu's ass and then blowing himself up was pretty sweet, too.

Piccolo had to be my favorite character in Dragon Ball Z up untill after the Cell Games. Dragon Ball Z completley over looked the non Saiyan characters in Dragon Ball Z after the Cell Games. I was disapointed to see Piccolo no longer fighting as much as he used to and Krillin also, and when Krillin grew hair he lost all his uniqueness in my opinion.

Also after the Dragon Ball Z series ended, Gohan turned out to be a real pencil neck in GT. Gohan happened to become another favorite of mine and he had alot of potential during the series of Dragon Ball Z to become the most powerful warrior out of the Z fighters. In the Buu Saga, when Gohan turned Mystic it was a real cool thing but Majin Buu handed his ass to him as soon as Piccolo and Gotenks were absorbed by him.

And Goku, well the series never let the fans down with him. Goku happened to become my favorite character in the end, I always liked Goku due to his personality, Goku is an awsome fighter but is a little slow in the head and I like that. In GT I watched him become Super Saiyan 4 and that was bad ass. It is a completley different look than any Super Saiyan form I know.

I was wondering if the Dragon Ball series could be continued even after Dragon Ball GT, if anyone could pick up the show and carry it on for another series. The long dead rumor of Dragon Ball AF could mabey be brought to life one day, who knows?

I agree with you about Gohan. He could have been the strongest of all the fighters if he just kept up his training after the Cell Games! He had a second chance when the Elder Kai awakened his hidden powers during the Buu saga. He wasn't even a super saiyan and was stronger then super saiyan 3 Gotenks! I guess Chi Chi would be partly to blame for Gohan not keeping up his training. I'm sure Gohan would have loved to keep up his training had Goku lived after the Cell Games, though Chi Chi still would have made him study most of the time. But unlike Goku, Gohan doesn't like to fight for real, so without Goku there to motivate him he really didn't have much inspiration to continue his training. At least not until he heard his father would return to fight in the World Martial Arts Tournament.

Funny how Vegeta jumped at the chance to fight Gohan in the tourney until Goku made that announcement he would appear, then of course Vegeta's interest shifted to fighting his rival once again. Gohan was stronger then Vegeta after his mystic powers were awakened though, which is something else that confused me during the GT series... Did Gohan's sleeping powers go back to bed or something? Because Vegeta was once again considered to be the second strongest. I guess it would make sense Gohan would lose that power, since he seemed to have given up training to become a scholar. He didn't cultivate that new found power after that. Still, Gohan was very powerful without it. And Vegeta had to allow himself to give in to that evil wizard's (forgot his name, the one that woke up Buu) control in order to gain more power to fight Goku during the Buu saga. If Gohan's power level went down again after the Buu saga, then I can see how Vegeta being the second strongest though.

Another thing though was that Gohan actually turned super saiyan again in the GT series. If he could go super saiyan then, why couldn't he turn super saiyan during his fight with Buu? He already had the power comparable to a super saiyan 3 at his normal state, so if he had turned super saiyan 1 alone his power level would have been phenomenal! But he never did go super saiyan during that fight, which made me assume that he was unable to for some unknown reason.

The power level thing can get confusing if one thinks about it too much. I do miss having the other Z fighters involved as much as they were after the Cell Games. Piccolo and Krillen were always great to have around. The saiyans pretty much took over the spotlight after the Cell Games, but it's hard competing with a power level of a super saiyan. Just transform and you have an instant jump in power while everyone else has to train, train, and train some more to increase their's.

My favorite episode of all the DB series is definatley when In the Cell Games, Gohan turned SSJ2, that was the most badass episode, then the 1 handed kamehameha. I wish they had a full Sayin girl so a girl could go super sayin, maybe Bra? I didnt like that Gohan didnt progress, he was the best character in almost everyones eyes after the cell games, but he didnt even progress at all after SSJ2 which was a shame. After the cell games the seires started to dwindle a little, then when GT came around it was a spiraling nosedive compared the the success of DBZ

The end of the Cell games was the best part of DBZ to me as well. The way Gohan was down to one arm and the way the other Z fighters refused to stay down trying to help.I never thought a cartoon could make me proud but seeing all of the Z fighters giving their all did make me proud.

Like everyone else has said the sies lost stream after the Cell saga. The Buu saga was ok but not great, and it was cool to see Goku and Vegeta to go at it again. As for GT i haven't seen a single episode, some friend told me that it sucked so i never bother to watch it.

I ve lost interest in Dragonballz after they went to the Cell saga. I don't know why, but it seemed pretty illogcal that despite all their talk, there wasn't a single spark of evolution in their acting and words. Even worse, every one of them remained the typical japanese comic book stereotype.

Goku -simple personality always goofing off, looking for food...just got annoying seeing it in every mainstream japanese anime and manga. Worse, Chi Chi has to be the greatest stereotype since every day the protagonist marries, the japanese give them rioting wifes...oh God.
let me not start on Bulma (and later Bulma-Vegeta relationship, altough the starting of it was promising).

Vegeta -always gruff, unclear if he stands for good or bad, cool second aid for the protagonist...another stereotype. He rocked however with the mus-tache in GT.

Trunks -the protagonist shadow...cool, having some phenomenon or item that separates him from the rest of the crew, acting like Vegeta sometimes but definable as good....almost stereotype.

Gohan...uhh, well, he was not a stereotype, but I disliked his evolution after or rather during the Boo saga. he was one good character ...
and Gotenks- no part in the story, mini protagonist..another thing the japanese like to repeat with nmatched zeal. No interestn in him all, same for mini-Trunks.

Kuririn (Krillin) another rehearsing or whatever. However, despite the ever second student of the master role, and being constantly portrayed as the weakest of them all, Kuririn got my attention. His acting was good, and the part when he decided not to finish Vegeta off with his sword was golden.
Also, him getting 40-50 years old was a good choice in GT (few of the only ones tha saved the show from complete disaster!)

Kuririns compaignon C18- hard to say, but she rocked. not only he han-ded the whole crew their asses sometimes, but was a major bitch. Being hungry for material gain..lol, that was something uncommon in the japa-nese anime/manga world. She was greedy sometimes, but the only cha-racter who has shown considerable westerner feel and motives.

Tenshin Han and Chiao Su (that was his name here in Hungary): uncommon, and they both held their relatively strong personalities through Z and GT, despite showing them as considerably weaker than others. I've grown quite fond of him, he held his pride even in the second long cuts when they showed them in GT.

I think the show revoked my interest in the most simple anime saga ever created: if it weren't for Kuririn or Picollo (who runned under the name here in Hungary as MERCYLESS SHATAN) -Picollo was funny, even though he was the most stereotypical character sometimes, his distuinguishable looks, moves, and occasional humour freed him of dumbness, especially when he learned to drive- I would quickly abandoned the series.

it simply got dumber and dumber after the fusion thingie. The gods looked ridiculous, and Bu was simply annoying. he did n't had at least 1/10 of charisma and dignity of freeza. Cell was a complete idiot, and a dumbass too. He made the most illogical choices sometimes.
