i never played it and can't afford one until i have a job. anyways acouple of my friends said this was the worst of the mk games. they said that the characters felt clunky and the moves weren't as upgraded or detailed enough. acouple even said it was like mka but with free fall combat and etc.

so do any of you disliked mkvsdc. if so which mk games did you like the best.

My favs are Deception, Deadly Alliance and Trilogy.
The combo system in MKvDC is completely screwed, Scorpion went from having about 5 good and easy combos to having about 1 or 2 mediocre ones. The rest, such as freefall, klose-kombat, etc, are just crappy gimmicks that don't really add anything interestingly new to the game.

I'm not a huge fan of some of the costumes either, but that's more of a nit-picking thing.

A few good things though: characters have almost all their special moves from previous games, although some DC character may have stolen some, which means the MK character gets a replacement (Batman got Scorpion's leg scissor takedown and make it look stupid, but Scorpion got a cool looking slide tackle). Another good point is that every MK character has 2 fatalities, and the DC characters have either fatalities or "heroic" brutalities, depending on their allignment.

Some people love the game, the majority hate it. You should rent it for youself because I can't decide for you, and renting is more than enough time to do everything in the game at least twice (there are not many modes and the story is very short).

Hope I helped.

It depends on which game you're referring to.

I don't think it's as good as MK3/UMK3/Trilogy, but I believe it's ages better than the past 3D titles, ESPECIALLY MK Gold (which was the worst, IMO)

There are some flaws in MK vs Dc but overall it is better than the last generation. Maybe it just me but, I prefer a more deep, 2-d combat system over a dial a combo system, and half-assed mini games. Just look at motor-kombat, was the MK team high that day.

It's amazing how opinions are diverse regarding MK games.

I hate the shit out of MKs 3-Trilogy. I don't really like MK and MKII all that much either, to be honest.

I love MK4. It's fun and cool as hell.

And I really like MKDA through MKA.
Haven't played vs DC though.

MK4 was pretty balanced, if you can get by the repetition of everyone having the same chain combos (hp, hp, hk, hk, finish).

MK Gold wrecked it with the added characters that were apparently not even tested.

yes
yes, it does not have much impact, everyone's dissapointingly ugly and stages lacked the multi-levelness and details in armageddon. and the classical combo system is just lame, really.

I like it back during the deadly allince days, but im going to say armageddon because it have the most and the best of things

MK vs DC is the worst MK game ever made. My blood still boils when I think about what It could of been without the lame DC characters and stages. I don't mind Batman in the movies but I don't want him in my MK games.

I don't know if it is the worst, but it definitely isn't one of the best.

I only started playing it recently. The first thing that struck me was that the character models looked really nice along with the particle effects for specials etc, the backgrounds are good, but could possibly be a little more elaborate.

I don't like the game play all that much, (maybe I just haven't had enough time with it). It seems very stilted, nothing seems to flow, and i'm finding it very hard to get the timing right for combo's etc. I'm doing a command expecting a move to connect, and instead nothing happens or i end up jumping/moving instead. It almost reminds of TaoFeng (if anyone remembers it), looks nice, but the gameplay is somewhat lacking.

Also the way the 3d movement is mapped to the analog stick while the d-pad is used for 2d movementis more complicated than what it needs to be. The MK:DA - :A trilogy, I think had the most intuitive system for the 3d MK's.

I think it's once again a case of the MK team trying for new things all the time, instead of working with and improving what they already have.

Oh, and the freefall and close kombat I just don't see the point of. The time that went into creating them parts of the game should've been used elsewhere.

One other thing, the fact that everyone has the same stupid spinny-throw bugs me. They've got all the motion capture from the previous games, use some of them to give the characters at least some sort of difference.

Not worse, no. Better actually, in a few ways no doubt, but it still doesn't quite work right.

MK4: Was the worst thing I ever played from MK at that time. I hated the visuals, the mechanics, the "atmosphere" didn't get it right, I wasn't happy with that story at that time. Egh, nothing was right with that game to me back then.

MKDA: Confused the hell out of me as to why it was so slow

MKD: Got better, because I got more comfortable with the system. Not that I "learned patience" or anything novel like that. More that I had to give up what I wanted to do with the game in order to be able to play it. Loved the Konquest mode though.

MKA: Was the worst of the bunch on the PS2 for me. Only reason I kept playing with the thing, is for KAK.

MKvsDC: It gets good praise for feeling and controlling a bit more like the 2D stuff of the past, and controlling a few ticks better than MKA....basically. Of the last 4 or so, I'd rather play with MkvsDcs' mechanic. Had it been a more giving mechanic, quicker even, I might even compare it to MK2-UMK3. But nah..Too much stuff prevents that. Animations, combos, projectiles, mid-game mini-games (distractions)...ect

ThePredator151 ---> So you think MK vs DC is better because of it's gameplay? I really hope you don't consider yourself as a fan of the series.... A MK game is not just about gameplay,it's about a story,a feeling,a universe and also, gore! Yes,gore is essential in a MK game, belive it or not. It's because of it's gore aspect if the game became so popular and unique.Removing blood from this game was a big mistake, they ripped an essential element of the series.

So don't try to make me belive MK vs DC was better because of his gameplay, you are only making yourself look like a casual gamer.

D'awww how cute, you don't know what a casual gamer is. You see, Hardcore gamers only care about the gameplay.

The blood looked better in this game than it did for the previous 3D games. The only thing they really toned down for this game was the fatalites.

You can argue about mere aesthetics if you want but this was the best playing MK for years. Hands down.

Predator don't need me to fight his battles but this is hilarious.

MK vs Dc is only good in therms of gameplay and graphics. But it's a bad MK game if we care about the true MK universe.

I think MKDC was awful since the first render was released, and I still stand by my opinion.

I played it and I somewhat liked the gameplay. Though it's still missing some vital aspects that all fighting games should have. Like, a counter system would be nice (a good one, not that piece of crap from MKA).

Oh, and am I think only one who thinks that after eight games, the series can't even give their character's original movesets?

I mean, take ANY other fighter.... Dead or Alive, every character has the same fighting style they had in DOA1, in every single game they add more and more moves to their move set. In MKDC all of the movelists are so freakin samey, it just subtracts from originality. I understand they all have the same special moves, but those are so abused online, and I don't even blame the players anymore; the melee fighting in Mortal Kombat is trash.

Not to mention I simply despise the presence of the DC characters, my family grew up playing Mortal Kombat, and this is the first one we never bought. I rented it for a week, and after 3 days I got so sick of the garbage, I just popped in the soul Calibur and let DC set on the counter waiting to be returned.

Now.... what did I like about this game:

Kitana's Jump Kick - Air Fan combo returned.

The end.

But what is Mortal Kombat first and for most.?

No point in arguing about this any more because opinion circles are pointless.

I haven't even given an opinion in this thread.

I didn't think this was the worst fighting MK game. Its superior to the previous 3D MKs and with the exceptions of an ill judged crossover with The DC Universe (Which I do love) and a more expansive roster it would have been brilliant.

The gameplay engine should have been like this for Deadly Alliance.

Fighting wise it was great but that’s about it.
Graphically this game fell very short and failed to take full advantage of the Unreal Engine and its capabilities.
Story was well..you only had to play it once to get it all but at least you actually played through it instead of watching it Like in MKA .
Arenas were nothing short of boring and uninspired. That goes for the music too minus one map.
Voice acting was a step in the right direction and I have little to complain about other then lack of innovation from the script by the cast
No compelling extra content for replay value
once you beat this game you were pretty much done
in game mini games felt unnecessary and rushed ie there could have been allot more stage interaction in the free fall kombat.
So again The Fighting engine was great and pretty solid but the rest was just very bland and lacking heart.

I considered it NOT a real MK game. I feel like this was more of a crossover gift to the fans. Some of the gameplay, as you said, was clunky. The older games flowed alot better for me. And the lack of blood just kinda killed the mood. Although there were a few ups to the game. The air kombat was interesting, not great, but an interesting idea. The only way to win was pure chance. The graphics, on the other hand, were amazing. It really polished well, even for the Xbox.

Would I reccomend buying it?

If your a HARDCORE Mk fan, Yes.

If your a Semi Mk fan, ehhh, I wouldn't

If its a first Mk game, NO.
