So, i'm developing a project wich's storyline is the continuation of Mortal Kombat Conquest. I need some help, opinions as to 'wich way seems best' to fill in a character's or clans bio.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First ideas for possible storyline:

As we know, in the closing moments of MKC, Shao Kahn invaded Earthrealm and presumably conquered the entire Realm, as they used recycled MK Annihilation images of Kahn's troops conquering the Earth.

But if we examine the last episode closely, we may have a clue as to Kahn did not conquer all of Earthrealm: in the end of the Shao Kahn vs Rayden fight, Kahn says that Rayden gave him the time to "transport you.. and your friends.. AN ENTIRE CITY!".. so, this "an entire city" may sugest that during the short time that the portal Kahn oppened in Shakkana was open, it just consumed the city of Shakkana by the time Kahn beated Rayden and took him to Outworld.

I presume that during the final scene of the series, in wich Kahn showed Rayden a personal object that belonged to each enemy the Shadow Priests had killed (just about everyone), the portal in Shakkana was still open, getting larger as Kahn enhanced it, and consuming the Earthrealm bit by bit, while Kahn sent his troops to the newly gained ground, to get rid of any possible threat (Earthrealm warriors) that could resist in those territories.

I believe Kahn himself was afraid that the Elder Gods could destroy him, as the legend tells, if he entered Earthrealm. So, he chooses to enhance the portal he had created centuries ago (with the intention of opening it, as a step ahead Rayden's protective struggles), making it a 'sucking void' that would slowly consume Earthrealm and merge it with Outworld.

Maybe he sent some troops to the newly Outworld territories (the images in MKC, originally used in MK Annihilation that show Kahn's extermination squads riding across a desert and mountains), in order to slay any possible rebelion or resistant forces. But i assume Kahn did not sent his troops directly into Earthrealm itself, because he was afraid of the Elder Gods rage.

So, Earthrealm can be saved, and Kahn has not conquered it completely.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First ideas for characters bios

Rayden

Rayden fought fiercely against Shao Kahn in the void between realms, but he was eventually trapped by Kahn's plan, and soon enough, both Emperor and Thunder god were in the wastelands of Outworld itself, surrounded by Kahn's troops. Rayden was captured by Kahn's soldiers, and tortured under the Emperor's will. In Outworld, Rayden's powers fade away, and he becomes a meare mortal. Kahn eventually killed Rayden, desmembering his mortal body and displaying its mutilated parts in high stakes in the newly conquered Outworld territories that were ripped off Earthrealm itself.

Rayden's body was destroyed, but his Godly essence inconsciently travelled to Earthrealm, where it was reborn, with a new body and newly gathered powers. Soon enough, Rayden saw the destruction that Kahn's portal was causing, sucking the Earthrealm into Outworld. He started to remember how he died and why that was happening, but moments later, his God sencibility felt a new portal opening somewhere in Earthrealm.

Shao Kahn had created another portal, in the other corner of the world, in a remote place near an undiscovered continent, a place that would later be named as "the Bermuda Triangle", or "the Devil's Triangle". This portal was starting to consume Earthrealm too. Rayden realised the importance and danger of the situation, and immediately travelled to the Heavenrealm, more accurately, to the Pantheom of the Elder Gods in the Eternal Palace.

There he argued with his superior deities and sought for help, as Kahn was crossing a law created by themselves to protect the peace of the Realms: he was breaking the laws of Mortal Kombat. The Elder Gods could do nothing, as Kahn did not directly invade the earth, but HUMANS opened the portal in Shakkana, and so, the distruction of Earthrealm would be caused by the human hand.

Taking the matter by his own hands, Rayden asked Fujin for help to stop Kahn's evil projects. The two Gods travelled back to Earthrealm and each of them chose a portal to hold. Rayden travelled to the first portal, located in the now absent territory of Shakkana, and Fujin took care of the second portal, located near selvatic shores.

The two Gods fought with their entire powers, Kahn's Shadow Priests eventually tried to stop the Gods, but they were nothing against the God's protective rage. They distroyed the demonic wraith-like Shadow priests, releasing the souls of dead warriors trapped inside everyone of these evil shadows, but these souls could not travel to the Heavenrealm (or Netherealm), because the interdimensional paths were blocked by Kahn's portals. Many souls were lost, wandering free in Earthrealm with no purpose, other souls eventually found their now dead bodies, and pocessed them once again, causing somehow a "ressurection", and erasing their not-deserved deaths.

The struggle of the gods eventually succeded, as the portals were closed with an imense power drain by Rayden and Fujin, and in the end, Outworld had conquered a very short part of the Earthrealm: mainly the mountain sealed city of Shakkana, and a piece of the Atlantic Ocean wich resulted into the creation of a titanic dark lake lost in the wastelands of Outworld; the city of Shakkana was completely transported to the mountains of Outworld (when the citizens realized that Shao Kahn had tricked them and used them to achieve his goal, they changed the city's name to Lei Chen, and stood in Outworld living against the Emperor's orders and protecting themselves of his minions with the stone walls), setting closed within stone walls once again, and so protecting itself and its inhabitants of Kahn's forces; and two void-like pieces of territory in Earthrealm.

Noob Saibot

Noob Saibot is the name of an Oni, original from the Netherealm, who exists has a shapeless demonic spirit who pocesses the bodies of mortals (or immortals alike) to take on his goals and fight for his wills. When Noob pocesses a body, it will start to slowly rot away and wither, turning the blood into a thick oil and the flesh into vivid ashes. As strong as the body is, as long it will last under Noob Saibot's control, until it finally collapses or is destroyed. Noob chooses mainly strong experienced warriors, because their bodies are resistant, they are trained to perform many kinds of techniques wich may require high levels of physical flexibility and muscular strenght and potential. These features fit the Oni's unorthodox fighting styles and vicious fighting will.

Depending on how strong a body is, and how much physical damage Noob gets, a well trained fighter body can last almost 10 years under Noob's control. When his body perishes, Noob will look for a new host whose body will be consumed by the demonic wraith.

Long ago, Noob Saibot served Shao Kahn himself, but he failed the Emperor in completing a task and so he was punished into being trapped in an underground tomb in Earthrealm for centuries.

With the help of outside allies, Noob Saibot fled from his prison, but his body was eventually destroyed in a fight against the Great Kung Lao. Noob wandered lost in Earthrealm, taking any body he found to keep on living. He roamed the Earth for days, but he was eventually catched and neutralized by a superior being, the sorcerer Quan Chi.

Quan Chi recognized Noob's unholly origin, and took him to his fortress in the Netherealm, where he had imense power. Noob Saibot was enlisted by Quan Chi as the newest member of the Brotherhood of Shadows, a clan of Oni and demonic beings lead by Quan Chi himself, working in the darkness , always plotting some evil activity.

Noob's ability to pocess any body he found, and his seemingly 'immortality' and 'undistroyability' pleased Quan Chi, as Noob was excelent for many types of missions evolving stealth and secrecy. Quan Chi promised Noob great wealth if he stood loyal to the Brotherhood of Shadows. Noob Saibot is now a member of the Brotherhood of Shadows, with whom he is safe and in secrecy, far from the Emperor's destructive rage.

Sub Zero

Sub Zero was once a member of the Lin Kuei clan. He is a human who carries within his soul the ancient powers passed on through generations of the long extint Cryomancer race, original from Outworld.

As a young baby, he was kidnapped from his family, by the Lin Kuei who had received visions from their visionaires, telling of the child who would be born carrying unhuman harmess over the element of ice.

He was trained under the Lin Kuei traditions, until he became a full warrior. However, this hard training failed in one particular area: the emotional ties and memories Sub Zero still had from his family. A time came, when Sub Zero turned his back to the Lin Kuei, willing to join his long left family once more. For this, the Lin Kuei grandmasters forbade him to leave to clan, and as punishment for such disrespect, they decided to take his life in order to prevent treachery.

However, Sub Zero stroke the attacking Grandmaster first, and this resulted into one of the Lin Kuei leaders being shattered into ice pieces. Then, Sub Zero left the clan's compound forever.

The remaining leader of the clan, declared that Sub Zero was forever a mortal enemy of the Lin Kuei, and for this, one of the finest Lin Kuei warriors was chosen to find Sub Zero, and retrieve his head to the clan master.... Smoke is the name of this warrior.

Before Sub Zero decided to leave the clan, he took part of a tradition that existed since ever in Lin Kuei: as all the top Lin Kuei warriors, Sub Zero was granted a female servant, whose purpose was to take care not only of Sub Zero's well being, but also all of his "manly needs".

The Lin Kuei did not grant Sub Zero a female servant with the sole purpose of satisfying the warrior his 'manly needs', but the true reason for this was that the clan grandmasters knew how precious Sub Zero was, and how important it was to have his ice powers in the clan even after Sub Zero died.

This female slave, served Sub Zero until she became pregnant, and then she was taken by the clan's wisemen in order to her son to be born healthy and safe.

When Sub Zero left the clan, he was not aware that he had a son with that servant, and so he left dispreocupied. Truth is, when his son is born, the child will be trained since young childhood in the clans martial arts, stealth and assassination techniques, and some years later his powers will be awakened. Even if Sub Zero disappears forever, the Lin Kuei have a young child who certainly carries his father's powers, who will serve the clan not only as a warrior, but as the begining of an entire Cryomancer descendant lineage family.

Smoke

Smoke is a member of the Lin Kuei clan. Like most of the Lin Kuei members, Smoke was kidnaped as a young child, from his family by the clan, however, when he was taken, his father tried to fight back the Ninjas who were breacking into his house to steal his son. The desperate man attacked the ninjas with the first weapon he could grab: a torch. He was eventually attacked by the Lin Kuei warriors, thrown right into a wall and breacking his back. The torch fell to the ground, setting the wooden-made house on fire. In a period of minutes, the whole house was burning, and the ninjas managed to grab the unconscious boy from his bed and leave.

The boy had breath too much smoke from the fire, but after hours, he awoke and surprisingly survived. He was taken to the Lin Kuei compound and presented to the Grandmasters. For years he devoted himself to train stealth techniques as his prime combat 'weapon', he was always trying to reach the perfect skill of any stealth warrior: invisibility.

However he could not master the art of invisibility, he asked his Grandmasters to take part of an ancient ritual, that was almost forgotten for its unuse. No living being has ever survived this training ritual, and the few who managed to walk out of it, died moments later.

It consists in breathing a very particular type of smoke from a very rare kind of incense. The smoke must fill the man's lungs an chest, transporting the man's mind into a transe state.
Legends tell, that centuries ago, a sorcerer seduced by "cheap tricks" and ilusions that could make him some money as a street performer, stood in this 'transe state', absent in soul but present in body for 3 days and 3 nights, and in the dawn of the fourth day he awoke.
Some time later, the sorcerer was able to perform a technique that very people call an "ilusion", wich consisted in the man's body turning into smoke right before somebody's eyes. In this smoke cloud state, the sorcerer could roam free everywhere he desired, he could levitate and stay hidden from peoples visions in the midst of deep fog or in the top of a burning candle.

The Lin Kuei warrior Smoke survived this ritual for the 3 days, and in the fourth day he awoke with his newly gathered powers. Since then, he became the top Lin Kuei stealth member, and the Grandmasters tried to repeat the ritual with other in-training warriors. No other man survived the ritual, and the Grandmasters assumed that the reason for Smoke to have survived was that he experienced a similar accidental event as a young child.

Smoke is enlisted for every kind of important mission evolving secrecy and silence.
When Sub Zero left the clan, Smoke was ordered by the Grandmaster to find the traitorous warrior and bring his head back to the Grandmaster's feet.

As a disciplined warrior, Smoke accepted his mission and left the clan's compound to track his target.

Shang Tsung

After Shang Tsung was slaughtered, along every enemy of Shao Kahn, his soul was consumed by the Shadow Priests. However, the Shadow Priest who consumed his soul was summoned back to Outworld by the Emperor himself.

Shao Kahn regained Shang Tsung's body and soul, brought by the Shadow Priests themselves under his orders, and he ressurected the Sorcerer with the purpose of making him pay for his treachery.

Kahn ressurected Tsung, and took from him all his supernatural powers and sorcery knowledge, making him a meare mortal. Then Kahn sent Shang Tsung back to Cobolt mines of Shokan once more, kept by Shokan guards that were instructed to make him suffer under their whips.

Tsung worked for an unknown period of time in the mines, agonizing in chains, getting older and weaker as all his mortal companion workers did. But he got old faster then the other mortals, as his body was used to consume living force from other beings and so, sustaining it's youth for centuries. Now he could not take any soul or living energy. The only thing that could give him some energy, was the rotting slave food served to the workers in the mine.

In his dying breaths, Tsung was approached by a human worker, who was willing to give him his company in his last moments, in order to turn his suffering somewhat, lesser. In that moment, Tsung felt his lust for energy crawling inside him as never before, he inconsciently opened his mouth and stretched his arms and fingers in a desperate convulsion. He could sence the energy around him, he could feal the slow beatings of the hearts of the sick workers near him, he could feal the strong vibration of the burning warrior souls of the Shokan guards in the top of the mine, he regained his energy sencibility once again.

In the same moment, he grabbed the approaching human's hand and placed his hands in the man's chest, struggling to control the vibration inside the man's body, as he could do so easily in the past.

He managed to consume the human's soul, and regain some physical strengh. Shang stood up, and started taking the soul of every living being that crossed his way, slaying workers, dying sick men, condemned prisioners, and after some time not even the strong Shokan guards were match for the sorcerer's lust.

Shang regained all his physical strengh, he regained his long lost youth and courage, and he was starting to rediscover his telekinetik powers when he was approached by a group of beings he could not kill: Shadow Priests. They took him to the Emperor's palace.

There, Shao Kahn told Tsung that he was the one who made his powers come back. Kahn released Tsung's sorcery abilities from inside himself, and delivered it to the sorcerer once again, but moments later, Tsung felt an imense force arround his neck, making the breathing impossible... Kahn was holding this force, and levitated the sorcerer in the air, telling him that if he was ever to do something as traitorous has he did by joining Queen Kreeya's army again, it would not be his body that would suffer, but his SOUL would be trapped in the deepest pits of the Netherealm for eternity.

Tsung swore loyalty to Shao Kahn, and that he would never reapeat such disrespect ever again.

Quan Chi

The demonic necromancer Quan Chi was fooled by Shang Tsung in the past: the human sorcerer used the art of ilusion called "shapeshifting" to use the image of Quan Chi and pretend he was attempting to assassinate Shao Kahn. For this, the Emperor sent the fake Quan Chi to the cobolt mines of Shokan where his unearthly origins would surelly be his doom. Truth is, once in the mines, Shang discasted the ilusion and became 'himself' again, he created a portal and fled.

For this, Kahn declared hatred to Quan Chi, and assembled assassins to destroy him.

Quan Chi was eventually caught by the Shadow Priests and killed along the way, but Quan Chi is an Oni, a very powerfull one, and so, he does not need a body to still exist as a demonic spirit. As a free demon soul, he escaped the Shadow Priests control, and posseced his former body, healing it's mortal wounds and re-shaping it as it was before.

Then, Quan Chi focused in gathering all the members of his own clan, the Brotherhood of Shadows, and started recruiting new Oni in the Netherealm to his clan, enforcing his demon hordes, in order to be prepared to strike back, if Shao Kahn ever heards that he still exists.

His advantage, is that both he and his demon hordes reside in the Netherealm, the last place where Shao Kahn will ever show interest in conquering or exploring. There he can plan any way he desires to one day, overthrow the Emperor.

Mileena

Thousands of years after Kahn took Kitana as his step daughter, the spell he cast in her, with the purpose of erasing her memories of her life before the arrival of the Emperor, started to fade away, and the princess slowly started to question her origins and remember her former life as a young girl and her parents: Queen Sindel and King Jerrod.

Fearing that Kitana could one day turn against him, Shao Kahn ordered his main Sorcerer, Shang Tsung, to create a clone of the princess, to someday (if needed) take her place. (NOTE: Kahn knows how important Kitana is for his Edenian servants, and he knows that if he kills Kitana, the Edenians may turn against him.. and THAT'S a problem, as they are descendants from the Gods themselves, and so, amazing warriors).

Shang Tsung did his bidding, using a hair string of Kitana, and some Outworlder (unkown of what race, but probably Tarkatan) blood, he combined these elements and used them into an ancient tribal ritual, wich consisted into emulating the features of a soul, and creating a living life force essence by his own.

Then, Shao Kahn molded a body similar to Kitana's, by using body parts of Edenian warriors of his flesh pits. When the sorcerer placed the soul he had created before, inside the newly created Edenian body, the body started to change, it started to "trim the edges", and became a perfect copy of Kitana's physical appearence, as Shang Tsung had planned.

However, the body's face continued to transform itself, even after it was equal to Kitana's. It wrinkled, its muscles contracted and its skin turned harder, its teeth became long and sharpenned, like those of a Tarkatan.

Mileena was a perfect clone of Kitana, the only flaw was the face, wich showed her unorthodox origins. And so Mileena lived for years, in the shadow of her "twin sister" wich was always seen as the perfect daughter by Shao Kahn, while Mileena lived in the shadows of his palace.

Kahn realised that the spell he casted on Kitana had almost faded away, and now she remembered many things of her childhood, including how her father was killed and her mother took her own life. Still, Kitana remained loyal to Shao Kahn, wich presented a surprise for the Emperor. This way, Mileena became "expendable".

A time came, when Kitana was sent on a mission, and Kahn needed her to accomplish another task that appeared suddently. To solve the problem, Kahn found a way to turn Mileena's face into a perfect copy of Kitana's, and so, Mileena was 'complete' as the perfect Kitana clone. Kahn told Mileena that he would offer her this new face permanently, if she succeded in completing the mission she was enlisted to.

However, Mileena failed to accomplish the Emperor's order, and as a punishment for her failure, the Emperor left Mileena's face intact, and took away the mouth part, revealing Mileena's former grotesque jaw structure, and monstrous sharpened teeth. This way, Mileena would always remember how happy she could be if she had accomplished her mission, and she would regret not having succeded in it, for eternity.
When she was informed that Kitana had been killed by the Shadow Priests in Earthrealm, a dark murderous joy burned inside her black heart. She started to dream about Shao Kahn assuming herself as his true daughter and rightfull heir.
Mileena is part of Shao Kahn's top elite warrior assassins, and one of those the Emperor is most proud of.

It will probably be used in a comic book, or some kind of fan fic sketch book.
Filming is just... "a little too much", if you know what i mean.. anyway, i would LOVE to film this stuff.

More to come when i get home wink

Hm...

I don't have anything to add there, all sounds in line with the end of MKC.

Nightcrow Wrote:
Rayden

I just have a question-like comment really.

Raiden and Kahn know each other, it seems a little uncharacteristic of Kahn to actually kill Raiden if he knows Raiden might have a chance of coming back and fighting for Earth. More importantly though, knowing that Raiden converses with the Elder Gods...the ones that Kahn really fears could interject into his plan.

I agree with the torture and all though, because torture would seem much more fulfilling to Kahn for all the years of resistance Raiden and the EarthRealm warriors put up.

Noob Saibot

I really like your concept for Noob Saibot. Body snatching seems right up the path I'd like to see Noob go in the future MK games actually. Degradation of an actual body sounds really good, but I wanna know how long it takes for him to deteriorate flesh before he has to get another body. How many years, how many wounds....you know? Like in terms of usage. I think it'd give him a limitation, and a schematic quality that Quan Chi could really see valuable.

Think like, "blind people have heightened senses elsewhere. Smell, touch, hearing...ect". Since it wouldn't be advantageous for him to use up his current body quickly, he'd have to be a "genius" schemer and shadow wraith. Get other people to do shit for him, he's a capable dark-artsmen as a result...ect. Remember his shadow clone move in MkT?

Also, where would he get another body in the Nether? You think maybe Quan Chi provides that for him? Leaving Noob in-debted to Quan Chi?

Excellent for Noob.

Sub Zero

So he has a kid hu? Sounds interesting...I'll just leave that one alone for now cuz I wanna see what you do with it.

Nightcrow Wrote:
Smoke

Excellent! You might put in more specifics like:

1. Who's the sorcerer. Where the sorcerer is from?...How many years a go the sorcerer did it.... all that stuff in relation ( or out of relation) to Smoke.

2. Was it just one sorcerer//one person who did it before? How many?
Make the rarity of the technique even more apparent. Maybe after Smoke does it, he is required to train others in his likeness but fails too many times...killing a bunch of the Lin Kuei. The GrandMasters might just except him as "the only one possible" and just send him on missions.

There could be some history between Smoke and the Sorcerer too..who know?

3. Why can Smoke do it and no-one else.

Other than that (extra) background stuff, I don't think that idea can get any better.

Nightcrow Wrote:

Shang Tsung

Very god again. I wanna see how dirty and nasty Shang Tsung becomes during his stint in the cobalt mines. How gross and moldy the food was, how rat-like his habits become before he regains his senses. You know, REALLY gross. Like, have him explain how there is still "energy" in human waste or something.
I don't mean to suggest "show him eating shit", but rather, have him beat around the bush a bit, about the notion that he did it before. "Bread and Wine of the body" or something.....that's just gross to think he might have had to do in his past....But it screams Shang Tsung becoming an evil vindictive, vengeful, snakely sorcerer.

Also, explain him and the snake aura somehow. Maybe he had very rare pet in the mines?...could be a notion to the "watchful eye" of Shao Kahn. Maybe what puts Shang Tsung on his death bed, is more than just his youth draining from him....maybe he got bitten.

Think of the consequences of being bitten by some types of snakes. The chest tightens, even more energy is lost, parallelization of the muscles throughout the body...ect. Make it really gritty, graphic descriptive writing.

The irony there, is that you can never be-friend a snake and that the snake itself was a control mechanism for Shao Kahn over Shang Tsung...yea, get into it man.

Very good, very very good again.

====side bar====

Didn't Shang, in MKC learn the technique of soul siphoning from Master Cho? At least that's what I thought...Master Cho, in MKC was also a soul siphoner, so if this is not the case, where did even he learn it from?

The other thing here is, where'd the shape shifting come from? Soul siphoning and shape shifting are almost totally different arts. Shifting could be a result of siphoning...but wouldn't that be a cop out? And then if that is so, Master Cho should be able to shape shift too...right?

Explain the difference between the two of them and their powers.

Nightcrow Wrote:
Quan Chi

Um..when you get into him, please consider a first person narrative. "Talk as he is thinking...or as if he is thinking out loud to us readers", and explain the way he is thinking about shit.

When I think Quan Chi, I wanna know what makes him so manipulative and calculated. I wanna visualize him setting the traps and see if the traps capture the "prey"(XD84 says Quan Chi = the Spider in method so..."spin the web" with Quan Chi)....a good way to do that is to let us in the mind of Quan Chi. "Uniqeness-in-thought-process" says it all.

Nightcrow Wrote:

Holy shit, well then what did he look like before he returned to his former body?

Thanks ProfesserAhnka (i love your nickname, because it is one of the few names that are related to MK C.. or is your 'Ahnka' another one?).

But, i'm writting this story as closer to the canon MK games story as possible, because, you see.. i don't quite like Non-canonity.. although i love MKC. lol.

I've given Sub Zero a son, with the purpose of the Sub Zero lineage family being actually possible. I've transported Shakkana to Outworld in order for it to be turned into the walled city of Lei Chen from MK Deception.

And this fan fiction will most probably be centered in the city of Lei Chen, with the Earthrealm warriors helping the citizens to hold their independance of Shao Kahn, and so entering in direct confront with the Emperor.

More to come soon.

EDIT: Thanks Sub-Frost! grin
