I agree. This series was way too rushed and too short. It's definitely an MK fan pleaser, but it doesn't hold up to Rebirth's fame. Every episode is so bittersweet as it leaves off in a cliffhanger and the next episode is just the last 2 minutes of what could've been attached to the first part in the 1st place.

I honestly don't know how I'd feel about KT directing a new MK franchise. He's doing too many different cinematic styles for each chapter. How would a film as a whole look? Ya know? Too much going on and so little actually happening.

The thing about this series that I like so much, is that it is actually showing the different contrasts between all these very different characters and their back stories, in a more authentic light individually. It's very character specific. We have so many different types of characters coming together from all over the MK universe, that with the games, I believe it's just not really possible to show them in true form.

So then comes along Kevin Tancheroen, someone who, judging by this series, is able to see that there are these differences. And when he executes, he gets extremely close, if not spot on for most of these characters portrayals.

All the way back to the first MK game, there's always been the notion that someone like Johnny Cage could never fathom who exactly he might be getting in the ring with because of his ego. In that case, you'd have to imagine that his apathy there, is due to living a completely different lifestyle, spoiled, over privileged, and out-right oblivious to the fact of the other characters. Tancheroen captures this notion well.

Especially considering how different someone like Kitana or Mileena is, and how they have been brought to the same contest.

So, the "good parts" are such as how the styles of saaay Kitana/Mileena/Shao Kahn/Baraka episodes end up being from Scorpion/Sub-Zero/Quan Chi's episodes. As well as those who are like Johnny Cage.

Then of course, there is how closely he can manage to stay to the source material, while also putting his own spin on said source material. KT gets the styles right 90 percent of the time or more. On the other hand, he's sticking so close to the source material 90 percent of the time or more as well. Makes for a really good series every-time.

Sorry, I meant Shinnok is Lucifer.. Quan Chi is his right hand man in the pits of Netherealm.

Remember, in MK2011 Shinnok says Quan Chi was working with Shao Kahn, so obviously introduce the deadly alliance earlier

Shinnok killed Lucifer. Lucifer was the old ruler of hell, Shinnok is the new ruler of hell.

Siang ol' pal, I think you need to spend some hours on the mortal kombat wiki, your knowledge is way off.

I liked the episode, especially the fight and the Japanese spear. it's just a shame that it was too short, a bit confusing and so far from canon, though usually I don't mind that sort of thing, it's kind of annoying in this particular situation because there is no reason to not get it right.

Why couldn't Sub-Zero actually be Sub-Zero? Why is Shang Tsung there? I hate it when they just pair up bad guys like they're all fighting on the same side, the side of evil.
I also don't get the ''fight for the nether realm'' thing. Nether Realm is not on the brink of invasion, Shao Kahn's mortal kombat tournaments are for Earth. The Nether Realm is also not a part of Outworld anyway, and I seriously doubt Shang Tsung would enjoy spending a single second in Heck. Just kind of confusing, not in the ''cool mysterious'' way, just the ''hum.. what?'' way.

I KNOW he killed Lucifer.. I was making an analogy... sheeesh

And Zentile, I don't need the Mortal Kombat Wiki.. please enlighten me how my knowledge is way off.. maybe it appears that way at times coz I make assumptions that mk fans should know what im talking abotu without having to spell it out :/ I've forgotten more abotu MK than you probably know.. especially when you say things like this episode was "so far from canon" :/

I agree with Zentile's constructive critism. But whoever is playing Scorpion in this is by far the best Scorpion actor ever. Whoever played Kano really pulled him off well.

The things that tick me off is Raiden's episode, and how early Jax got his arms. Jax shouldn't be getting those things until right after the outworld tournment. I really hope Scorpion's backstory takes place years before the upcoming tournment.

You weren't making an analogy, you said Quan Chi was lucifer and then said you meant Shinnok was lucifer. That's not an analogy, that's a mistake. Twice. If you kill someone you don't become the person you kill, fyi.

You were also under the impression that Sub-Zero didn't kill Scorpion which is just weird and again, it's definitely way off. Just like the episode. Shang Tsung and Quan Chi didn't kill Scorpion and his family and they didn't recruit him to fight for the Nether Realm in Mortal Kombat. That's factually off canon. To me, one of the biggest thing about the Scorpion/Sub-Zero rivalry is that Sub-Zero killed Scorpion, call me crazy.

I'm not sure where you get this confidence that you've forgotten more about MK than I know, that's a pretty arrogant thing to say considering you acted like a smartass telling people ''to check their facts'' because Sub-Zero hadn't killed Scorpion since MK4, and it turned out you were totally wrong. How did you even ever think that?

To be clear on my thoughts, the fact that the episode differentiates from what happened in the games does not bother me, I was just pointing out that I would have preferred it if Shang hadn't been there, and if Sub-Zero had killed Scorpion.

WOW, it's amazing how some of you like to get off on screaming how you think you know more about MK than the next guy. Chill the fuck out, because anyone can know as much as they want by searching that thing called the internet...no one gets an award for "knowing" more about MK than everyone else.

Meanwhile in the world of THIS TOPIC, I liked the episode, definitely too short, but what do you expect, it's free. The actors have been spot on which continues to surprise me for such a low budget series...maybe the actors are all MK fans confused

Keep it up KT, you're doing an amazing job, and until someone else steps up and produces something worth while in regards to MK, you own it.

I really want that song that plays during the Scorp vs. Sub fight. It was so amazingly suited and epic. I didn't think dubstep could BE epic.

Search youtube for 'epic bass drops dubstep.' You'll see that dubstep is the atomic bomb of electronica.
