There's interesting idea, that I've heard on another forum:
What if the whole battle between Scorpion and Sub-Zero Sr. in MKL2 was just a vision created by and old advisor from Lin Kuei? This could've explained why it took place in the same field as in Feudal Japan and, also, why it looks like MKL was left without any Sub-Zeroes.

Well so far I have enjoyed the show. Nice interpretation from the Machinima team. I love how the used the same dude to play Shang Tsung. Nice homage. I did not care for the bald look though, Shang has never been bald.

Lui Kang's story with the waitress was kinda campy and dumb. "Relax" seriously? But I like the rest of the back story.

Kenshi's story was cool, except, the whole Ermac thing, was Ermac involved in that story at all in the canon? I didn't like that Ermac did not have a mask, I think only his eyes should have been showing, or a hood that covered his entire face.

I like Casper, but I think he's a little too old now to be playing Johnny, isn't Johnny supposed to be like 28-30? Casper has the right look, he's just too old.
I would definitely run also. After seeing all that shit, yeah fuck that is right.

Kitana and Mileena's story was kind of refreshing after the terrible retcon in MK 2011. I really do not like how they were not wearing masks. For the bedroom scene, cool, unmasked, but for the battle scene they should have had their masks on. I think it's weird how the actors who played Jerod, Sindel, and Shao khan were all white, but Kitana and Mileena are Asian. I think they could have cast a much more amazingly hot actress to play Kitana, Sam is the right age, and she is beautiful but, Kitana is supposed to be like amazing, that's like her whole thing. I like how they did Mileen's mouth, but where are the masks again? They also killed Mileena way to early, I feel like there could have been more there. How is Kitana just going to kill Mileena like that anyway? Like did you not grow up together and whatnot? Also, we have found out how Kitana found out about Edenia and everything. I think the Jerod still being alive thing was not bad of an explanation.

I think Kitana had to kill Mileena then and there. Either Mileena would've killed her would've reported Kitana's actions to Shao Kahn. I like the look on Kitana's face after she kills Mileena... she knows she's in serious trouble.

In season 1, after she and Mileena killed Jerrod, she went to the old Edenian castle to investigate what he said, saw her baby crib, and it caused her to experience some of Sindel's memories because in Legacy, Sindel stuck her soul inside Kitana when she killed herself.

So Kitana had those flashbacks in season one because Sindel fused their souls or whatever. That doesn't even make any sense.

Maybe she had the flashbacks but didn't know what to make of them. Maybe she suspected something was up and just needed someone/thing else to confirm it.

Her mother coming back as a brainwashed undead Banshee somehow makes more sense?

Kind of surprised more people aren't complaining about how AWFUL Johnny Cage was. For me, he was the worst thing about the entire second season. I don't know whether is was acting (It was largely acting), writing (it was a little bit about the writing), or some combination, but my God Casper Van Dien was unwatchable.

I don't have a problem with cussing. In fact, I probably do it too much myself. However, every time "Cage" said the f-word (any profanity really) it felt like someone was stabbing me in the ear with an icepick. It was so unnatural sounding; so forced. The lines from the game were heavy on the cheese too. In terms of the series itself, he was worthless in just about every aspect imaginable. Stryker wasn't much better.

Man I was hoping he would get a sai to the face.

I personally thought that Casper was one of the highlights of Season 2. He's among the couple actors that I want to see reprise their role in the upcoming Movie. Just write him better and make him less of a coward.

as much as I liked the second season, it's pretty obvious only the asian characters can be bad asses this time around. I don't even know why they recasted Raiden *the actor is hot, I'm not complaining, but still*

The only thing I liked about Cage was his colorful language. It's pretty much how I imagined someone like him put in that situation would react.

To say the least.

For what it is and was. I found it entertaining. That, in no way, means it is perfect or that we don't have the right to be upset.

For one.
I thought Ermac was a waste of a character, and I didn't like how he looked. Yeah, that fight scene with him and kenshi was fun, but, I did not like how ermac was portrayed and he was only in there a short period. Might as well, not even been in the season..

I was still annoyed that, we still have the beginning of episodes, where they would recap the one before. Some episodes, felt like they weren't even needed, as it didn't really move the story forward. It was like a stand still.

I didn't like Mileena getting killed off so fast. And I liked the other actress from season 1 better, even though she didn't speak at all. Or that I can remember.

Episodes being cut in half, just to make it seem like we had more episodes to watch, was also annoying.

The editing and story telling, was off, imo and could have been better.

Other than that. I had fun with it, for what it was. But, for such a delay. I expected better. Even with the budget they had. And considering how it was being advertised. On tv and in some movie theatres. This really fell short of what I was expecting. Especially how they were talking about it, in interviews and such.

But, I somehow liked it, for a online series. Though, if you asked me. I would not want Kevin to direct the next MK movie.

The only thing on my mind - Kenshi, Scorpion and Sub Zero are all from Feudal Japan. But its set in Modern times. Are they wizards?

Scorpion and Sub-Zero were not set in Feudal Japan.

The series showed that the present was only twenty years after the separation of their friendship.

Let's count then.

At the best, MK1 played out in 1993. -20 years and we get the 1973 Japan.

THE HIGHLY URBANIZED DEVOID OF THE REMNANTS OF THE SAMURAI TOKUGAWA-ERA WORLD, WELL AFTER THE MEIJI-REFORM ERA, WHICH VIOLENTLY REMOVED AFOREMENTIONED WORLD.

No, sorry, on this point there is no leeway. There is/was no feudalism in Japan, nor was there since more than a hundred years. And no, an empire does not presuppose feudalism, serfdom etc.

a SHOGUN is a feudal warlord exercising worldly power next to the emperor. There were no shoguns for a very long time.

And no, bullshit like isolated remains and stuff can't count. Japan is literally overbuilt. Such a choice would betray a deep lack of information about the Japa... forget it, explaining any logic behind MK is an exercise of wasted time.

You meant behind MKL, right?
Because, it is pretty much the only version of the MK'verse where some sort of time travel is part of the story (i.e. Scorpion and Sub-Zero episodes are set in Feudal Japan somehow and then the same Sub-Zero appears on the tournament in the present).

That's not entirely true. Japan is mostly densely packed cities, sure, but it DOES still have some rural areas. Small farming villages and the like.

Not that I'm defending Legacy, since that's clearly set in the ancient past, the subtitles even say so.

Chrome, the whole thing was a misunderstanding, you can stop making your point now. The "Twenty Years Later" subtitle doesn't refer to the present day, he thought it did but it has since been cleared up. We all know the Scorpion/Sub-Zero stuff took place in the Feudal Era, it says so on the screen.

Cage, Stryker and Ermac - furniture without much of a purpose. Why the hell they decided to turn Ermac into this...thing is a question of the year.

You completely read my mind with this sentence. My three favorite characters and in Season 2 Kevin reduced them all to jobbers.

Cage at least got something resembling a fight, but he's pinned to a tree by Mileena's sai and she easily holds him up there? WTF was that? On the other hand, Stryker had nothing to do AT ALL except get his butt waxed by Liu Kang. No backstory, no nothing. The only positive here was that Casper Van Dien and Eric Jacobus were major improvements over their Season 1 counterparts.

But then there's Ermac. Oh, my God. I'd seriously like to know what drugs the creative team were on when they came up with that unfathomable character design. Not only that, Episode 4 was ridden with numerous plot holes to go along with the utter butchering of the Ermac/Kenshi storyline. Jesus.

Season 2 pretty much stunk overall, and if this is what is in store for Kevin's reboot of the franchise, it's going to make Annihilation look like Gravity.

Oh man, have I not jumped in to say this is terrible yet? Because god this was terrible. I couldn't even make it to the last episode. The dialogue was shit, the fight scenes were underdone, it felt like MK: Annihilation with higher production values.

Has Kevin even spoken out on all the (negative) reviews for this second season?

...the only one I've heard about is how he was saying something about there wasn't a bigger budget or some shit.
