I think that the reason that Sub-zero, Smoke, Secktor ,and Cyrax all have there own looks is because they are the top dogs. I would think from the trailers we have seen those random ninjas x and y are the low ranking members and do the menial assassinations. The top 5 guys( well 4 after mk1) can wear w/e they want as long as they have the Lin Kuei emblem. Bi-Han was probably their top dog since he was assigned with Shang's assassination(but i would like to think that after mythologies he was set up to die at the hads of scorpion and the call of Quan-chi in return for something, probably the secrets to the automation process).

Grandmaster: "Cyrax! You totally botched that assassination job! I'm demoting your ass back to uniform and putting you on traffic duty. If you keep up this reckless behavior, I'll have your Lin Kuei badge!"

Call me crazy, but maybe the clown is one of those misc kombatans like the Stunt man and the rat people.
And the misc characters have their own fataltity too. Take that into consideration.

Sub-Zero wears a mask because the name is a legacy. The myth to outsiders is one supernatural man that has lived for centuries, when in fact it's sons taking the father's role, or older brother in Kuai Liang's case.
Sektor and Cyrax are likely one of a kind, highly valued but mortal in the eyes of outsiders.
Taking a stab at Smoke, maybe he wears a mask to fool the opponent into thinking that he can still be harmed from his own smoke attacks?

The clown has a red and yellow color scheme and a similar flame design on his sleeves like Shang Tsung. I belive the theory of this being a transform fatality recreating Joker's uncensored fatal.

If he has 2 other ones in addition to this, im cool with it.

Blindness has been a problem for some individuals, but when push comes to shove, the people who know more about the character and have analyzed them the most usually have the strongest reasons. That isn't universally true, but it's true more often than not.

The only time I've ever seen the blind fan perspective truly get out of hand was when Scorpion became the elder gods' champion. A huge handful of people just could not accept that Scorpion wasn't St. Anger for the billionth time.

Jaded-Raven: My reasoning is simple, I personally find the robots goofy. I don't like the sci-fi element at all. So when they take my favorite character since I was 8...almost 20 years now...and make him into one of my least favorite character types It ruffles my feathers. Besides, from what I've read of the leaks they did it purely to "shake things up" and make something different just for the sake of making it different. There are other reasons I don't like the move but those are my main reasons.

Ahhhhh it never gets old to see people complain about the cyborgs being in MK.

I'm not complaining about them being in, I've accepted it and I've moved on...and still love MK. I was just referring to an earlier post about some fans not wanting to accept the rape of their favorite character just because they don't want any change at all. The fact that Cyborg Sub is now a part of the canon and the Sub we knew and loved is no more is enough reason to get upset.
