Don't know if that's been posted yet. Either the cat got let out of the bag early, or it's just flat out wrong. The NRS team never really flat out denies a leak, so, who knows?

Or it could be him telling MKO that it's not a "joke". They have that disclaimer at the bottom saying April Fools is around the corner and maybe that's what he's referring to. Gotta be.

That's flattering, but please don't look to me as a spokesperson of any kind. I've only had a scant few details revealed to me about certain things here and there, and most of them pertain to Smoke; I really don't know too much more than most people here. I've had a few opportunities to learn about things nobody should know about yet and I've turned them down; I still don't know what Smoke's X-Ray or fatalities are, because A) I want to be as surprised as everyone else when the time comes, better or for worse, and B) those secrets are NRS' to dole out as they see fit. I still haven't even read any of the Story mode spoilers.
I'm just very confident Rain'll be showing up, is all.

Would they really reveal Cyber Sub & Quan though? Defeats the purpose of "secret characters" unless they don't care any more. Because the cat has been LONG out of the bag. So Smoke, Sheeva, Quan, Cy Sub, Rain, and possibly Kahn. It all fits.

Yeah I do think it would be pointless to reveal the two secret characters. But now that almost everybody knows about them maybe they will.
I'm not gonna get my hopes too high for Rain, though. I have no doubt he will be DLC at some point if he's not in the game to start with.

What?!?! I hope this means Rain is already in the game coz having Kenshi before him is total bs!

I repeat.
Remember the tweet Boon made some time ago, asking what DLC characters there should be?
Apparently, Kenshi and "a new character", which turns out to be Lady in Red, got more votes than Rain, and therefore they are part of the first batch of DLC's.
Rain will come eventually, but he simply didn't get enough votes to be one of the first characters to become DLC's. Sorry guys.
Complaining, bitching, whining, blaming people, talking shit and all this bad behaviour coming from you people will NOT rush Rain into becoming part of the first DLC characters. Yes, it's unfair, but that's just how it is. Life isn't fair.
It sucks, but there's nothing we can do about it. And we have yet to see if this is an April Fool's joke or not. Personally, I hope not. I'd like to have Lady in Red as a playable character, and Kenshi is quite cool as well. I don't care much for Kintaro, and would easily have replaced him with Rain if I could, but oh well.
I hope all you guys will take a deep breath and look this over once more. There's no need to rage over this at all. There's no need to be impatient. Rain will become DLC in due time, so until then, let us enjoy what we have so far. Because this game is seriously looking amazing! Don't you agree?

Kenshi was the best new character of DA - Armageddon
But I really want to see what moves he wil use. Will he use swordsmanship without Ermacs telekinetic or will they change the story that someone else or Ermac will teach him it much earlier
Do no care for Kintaro, but I thought he would be there from the start.
Lady in Red aka Skarlett looke awesome

I really should STFU you know... really I been complaining about some characters and see where they ended up, I should have faith in Boon for making all characters up to now so freaking cool! Maybe I end up being Kenshi's or Lady in Reds number one fan, I should complain when I see the end results while holding the player in my hands, not now, not now we still haven seen them in action.
I apologize to Boon for being such a stupid biatch with limited intelligence.
I should have faith in this game, and anyway now Smoke has hair in this game I won't miss Rain that much anymore, my feelings toward Rain have never really been high as he's not one of my ultimate favorites anyway, he should be there in DLC in due time anyway, I should just be patient.

The article itself is just something GamePro has come up with. The whole "Kintaro hates lolcats" and stuff like that is something GamePro has made up to humour up the article. It's not to be taken seriously. The reveal, however, is what we should be focusing on.

Ah, the big fallacy of online polls. Let me tell you a story about Capcom and Street Fighter 4.
Before Street Fighter 4's home release, there was a poll up on the Capcom site that was a precurser to the current Capcom-Unity. They had a poll up asking who people wanted to appear in the home edition of Street Fighter 4. The top four choices on the poll were the following:
(4) Dan
(3) Fei Long
(2) Sakura
(1) Dudley
Dudley was winning by quite a landslide, having almost double the votes of Sakura. This poll disappeared altogether when Capcom rolled out their new Capcom-Unity website, and was replaced by another, invisible poll. Who won the invisible poll? Cammy, apparently. She was cited as the winner at some convention after the question was prompted.
Console version of Street Fighter 4 rolls around, and Cammy gets in. So do Dan, Fei Long, and Sakura. But where is Dudley? I mean, being the winner of the first poll, you would think he would be in, right? Capcom never gave a straight answer to this discrepancy and seemed to ignore it ever happened.
While Dudley eventually did appear in Super, it's probably not a coincidence that the people who remembered Dudley winning the first poll were vocal about it after home release. It's why many people are wary of Capcom's "polls" for MvC3 DLC. It's far more likely they already have characters planned, and the polls are simply a show to make it seem like users are participating.
This relates to MK9 because it's actually quite likely NRS didn't expect Rain to be as popular as he is. They probably already had been working on Lady in Red (this much is a given considering teases dating far back to autumn) and Kenshi for a considerable amount of time before they even noticed that Rain had a very vocal fanbase speaking out for his inclusion.
I have far more faith in NRS than I do Capcom, however (and I'm still giving them the benefit of the doubt with Kintaro for the time being), and they've probably taken some sort of action in regards to the outcry for Rain.
Moral of the story is to treat any sort of online poll that has "user participation" with the utmost suspicion in regards to its outcome, especially when Boon frequently uses "I don't see all of the tweets" as his favorite excuse for dodging questions.

How Capcom deals with something doesn't necessarily mean that's how NRS deals with it as well. Comparing the two isn't going to prove anything. Sorry.

Ed gets like a billion tweets a day though, and he's got a real job, he can't sit there reading them all. Of course he doesn't see all of them.
And a lot of them are questions he can't even answer, too, because they'd be spoilers.

Precedent. Goes far in this industry. Sorry.

While true, people have tested his "can't see everything" remark by specifically sending a tweet about how he's ignoring them, which he does often answer. It's far more plausible he simply chooses to ignore most tweets, which would be a given since, as you said, answering many would be spoilers.

You are simply assuming. The truth is, none of us can say specifically how they deal with things. You can generalize and state how others have dealt with things in the past, but it would still only be assumptions.

You really think Boon took the time to count all the votes ppl cast on that poll?? Especially with ppl tweeting him for some characters more than once? I used to check his twitter a lot back then and I remember ppl going crazy over Rain, not a new character....let alone Kintaro who wasn't in the "poll". So that rules out the possibility of Boon deciding the DLC through that....plus it's really annoying when people who have their fav characters already in the game being all cool and like "come on yall chill! life isn't fair, there's nothing u can do stop bitching!". Umm, sorry but I think if Jade wasn't in the game and Kenshi was, you would be bitching as well
