If it is a guest, its sad how all of this mystery and build up can't even go into one of their very own characters.......

Catwoman seems quite a solid bet. The Penguin would be hilarious to see in a fighting game actually, like a little mini-Rufus. But yes Catwoman would be the best suited for the job.

Why is that sad? It wouldn't matter who they decided to roll out, there's going to be disappointment regardless. If it is a guest character, at least there's a chance they might offer something new outside of the typical MK fare.

But Bane and Scarecrow aren't important enough to become a surprise DLC guest character for Mortal Kombat. However, with Arkham City coming up, Catwoman is. The only one who can trumph Catwoman in "importance" would be Batman, but I would personally prefer Catwoman of the two.

Watch this up until 1:30 and you have my answer.

I don't know if playing 10% of Arkham City as Catwoman makes her any more "important" or not. I mean, Tim Drake is in the game as Red Robin with his own challenge maps and in the comic tie in.

Bane on the other hand, was one of the first pieces of promo for the new movie, and is in the new teaser trailer.

This makes all the sense in the world.
A big movie tie-in is more profitable than an average game tie-in.

I prefer Catwoman, but if I had to bet on any one character,
Bane seems like a solid choice.
Him, or Batman.
They could always change their "no fatality" policy for heroes...

She will be more playable than that. It was just to show how awesome her gameplay looks like in the game. ^^

Bane is just a low villain. He's not even one of the important villains like The Joker, Harvey Two-Face or even Poison Ivy for that matter.

She'll be playable in a few other parts yeah, but your total play time with her is still only going to be about 10% of the game. At least, that's what the interviews with Game Informer and Gamespot at E3 stated.

I'd personally put Bane above most of Batman's villians, in the top 3 with Joker and Ra's Al Ghul. Though when it comes to Arkham City, the one villain I want to see in action is Mr. Freeze.

I do hope they won't stop at just 4 characters, so maybe we'll get to see her later... ;) and her silhouette

Anyway, if it does turn out to be one of the Edenian sleeping beefcakes, I'd like to see Taven doing more than just walk around saying stuff like 'I can't remember a thing' and 'where is mother?'...

While I admit that the fact they're revealing at SDCC increases the likelihood it will be a DC character like... 10 fold...

Did everyone just like... forget the whole Fatality thing? Wherein... in the previous game... DC's heroes couldn't perform fatalities at all, and even DC's villains, could only perform lame watered down fatalities, and even the Mortal Kombat characters, could only perform lame watered down fatalities on each other, and DC's heroes, and DC's villains?

I feel like that's a big giant gaping hole in the theory that it's going to Batman, Catwoman, or most (if not all) other DC characters.

If they didn't want us decapitating them last time, what would change this time?

Now I will grant... that as a single entrant... one character... the rules might be a little more flexible for some of these guys. And I'm not even sure who... (Lobo? I dunno...)

But when push comes to shove, I honestly still don't see it happening. I can't see where DC would be cool with us splitting Batman in half from the crotch up. Or shoving a grenade in Catwoman's torso. Or tearing Joker's skin off. Or even mounting Bane's limbs on a scarecrow.

It just doesn't feel likely.

Now... the alternative would be... disabling fatalities against that one character but... that seems lame. Incredibly lame. So lame that I don't even think they'd go there.

Anyway...

I hope character #4 isn't a letdown...
I fear it might be...
