You'd think that...but I've certainly never found a good novelization on the net. And I've been looking since 56k was considered fast.
Well, XD did a decent job with just the Kitana parts. But...y'know. That's just the Kitana parts.

Found this on MK's official forum, and after using the search function on the spoiler file that came out, I can confirm that these are in the file.
CYBER_REPTILE_NAME=Cyber-Reptile
SHINNOK_NAME=Shinnok
SHORT136=Tremor
From what I can tell, it seems that Cyber-Reptile and Shinnok could be unplayable or playable characters. And with Tremor, it was in the part of the file that also had concept art, so it might just be a bio or some concept art of Tremor in The Krypt. Hopefully it isn't and that you can play as him or at least fight against him.

Forgive me if the Scorpion render that displays in the background over the demo file has been posted, I just skimmed through because I didn't want to read anything about the story and i don't think I saw any links or images.

Mileena died after MK2 and she returned, more awesome than ever! Death is not the end, my friends... I thought that was a lesson learned from the past MK games.
I don't think it's the characters dieing that's the issue. Or at least that's not my issue. I kind of don't like how this game was supposed to be in continuity with the past MK games but is basically like the Marvel Ultimate version of MK. I kind of don't like that.I repeat...

Actually that's an interesting way of looking at it. The Ultimate Universe was created so people could get into the characters without reading 40 or so years of lore.
I think NRS might be doing this approach to appeal to the fans of MK during the glory days (MK1-UMK) who skipped everything MK4 and on. By starting from scratch they are trying to appeal to a broader audience.
Now only time will tell if this approach pays off.

Marvel didn't stop publishing the mainstream comics and switch to Ultimate-only, though.
And Ultimate eventually declined in sales because the gimmick wore off and all you're left with when that happens is comics that aren't as good as the real Avengers and X-Men.

There's an absolutely fucking wonderful Sub-Zero fanfic that covers MK2 and MK3 from his perspective. It takes some liberties with the characters,but what is there is excellent.
The only problem is that it's in Russian.
Once spring break starts,I'll try to translate a chapter or two. Should be up your alley.

If there is, I'd appreciate seeing what moves each character has.

No.
That's one of the reasons I halfway believe this was intentional.

Ok...after letting this story sit in my mind for a while....I still don't like a lot of parts in it.
BUT....I'm going to wait till I actually see it in game to make my FINAL judgements of the story....By the Elder Gods I hope it somehow gets better...
At least the dialogue seems to have drastically improved.

So no Sheeva or Scarlet, right?
Sonya, Kitana, Mileena, Jade, and Sindel are the only females?

And I think that's the big difference between Marvel/Ultimate Marvel and MK/MK9.
Besides small niche fan communities such as this nobody really cares about the story post-MK4 so there was no real reason to continue on from that point. They are taking the "Golden Age" of MK and tweaking it a little to appeal to gamers nowadays in hopes of gaining a bigger audience.

I now want to take this time to apologize to Casselman: I'll bite my words. No Human Sektor. Of course, now that this is all over, I realize that Sekh probably means Secret kharacter.

Eh...if I'm still here.
I've been wrestling with what to do with myself now that the old Mortal Kombat timeline is basically dead. I mean, that's all I ever came here for, to talk about that canon. What purpose would posting on MKO serve me once this game comes out and all anyone's ever going to be bringing up from then on until the rest of forever is the shit that's in THIS game, when all I will be wanting to talk about is Cryomancer armors and the Champion of the Elder Gods and that time Kano became the General?
I guess I could just retreat to a little corner of the Fan Submissions board and live in denial, writing and drawing my own little bits and pieces of unfinished "Armageddon sequel" ideas for the next few years.

There are some bits and pieces I don't agree with....
....But hey, after the trainwreck that was MK:Armageddon, I'm willing to give this a shot. From reading what some of you posted from the data, the story sounds pretty tightly squeezed but if it's really as long as they say it is, it may not be all that terrible. The dialogue sounds great, and some of the way the characters are handled could go one way or the other for me, but we'll see how I feel after I've sat down and played it. If it sucks, oh well, only have to run through it once. Then I can just concentrate on whoopin' online ass, the Challenge Tower and the Arcade Ladder so all's fine with me.
As for the roster, I give two thumbs up for including pretty much everybody and I have to agree (as a fan of this particular character) that he should be saved as DLC to help it sell. As much as it may nag some fans, as well as me a bit, at the end of the day video games are a business and its a good strategy, especially if packaged with other characters that have ties to that timeline (Bo Rai Cho, Kenshi, Tanya.... I'm looking at you three).
As for who gets 'whacked' so to speak, seeing as this IS an MK game, well.....some people just have to go. I may be pissed about it now, but as long as it serves the story in some form in the future, so be it.
Still extremely excited for April!

Namely adding in random characters for MK1's storyline and turning certain characters into what's only seemingly been described in here as whiney a-holes with crap tons of personal issues

Yeah, that's what seems to be the worst part. It seems like characters just come and go and drop in and out with no resolution to their plotlines whatsoever. There's a big thing about "We must get Kitana on our side!" then Raiden is like "Oh, well not really let her die." which results in Kung Lao's death, then the ending is just "Rocks fall, everyone dies."

I can deal with stuff like Cyber Sub-Zero or Sonya having daddy issues (she had them in the first game anyway, iirc) so whatever. But having characters come into the story for a fight and then dip never to be seen again is pretty bad.
Well that and taking Quan Chi, a character who's not really interesting or enjoyable or anything, and shoehorning him into the story because the guys making the game like him a lot for some reason.

Yeah, I'm kind of interested in this too. Especially for Shang and the characters we don't really know much about like the Shokans.
