Get ready to cast your votes for Mortal Kombat and Freddy Krueger at this year's SpikeTV VGA!

The newest installment of the series has scored another round of nominations in the form of Best Fighting Game and Best DLC.

The successful video game has already won Best Fighting Game of the Year during the Golden Joystick Awards and it has sold over 3 million copies worldwide making it the No.1 highest-selling fighting game of 2011.

MK easily gets my vote for best fighting game...DLC..far from...surprize me with more of it and I'll think about that one...maybe. Easily one of the best fighting games ever tho. No question.

I voted both even though freddy is pretty lame seeing how he has nothing to do with the storyline... except now that I say that I do think it was cool how they wrote his ending to seem like he was more or less freed by nightwolf which allowed the events of the movies to take place.. cool, but it has to do more with freddys storyline than the mk storyline... which sucks for mk

Thats why you should vote for both categories because it will only help mk in the long run...or maybe thats not why you should vote for freddy because he sucks... because voting mk is good for mk...

maybe one day our tournaments will have as many entrants as street fighter does..,

Best Fighting Game of the Year:

An easy choice. The game is technically sound (mechanics, animations, and so on), the story element is superior to its competitors, and the art/aesthetics more than compete.

On DLC:

I don't much appreciate Freddy being DLC... It's really a silly choice and I think all they probably should have taken from that character (if anything) was the "horror movie factor" that Freddy is originally from....Which they did. The game is alot more horrifying than most of its previous iterations. Which is why after thinking about it, it's not so bad to have seen them execute on the notion that Freddy might actually fit in MK somehow.

He fits aesthetically into the MK world, but that's it. Does that make him the best DLC? That's up to you to decide. I voted for him though. Some of the other DLC there was free but, I will gladly pay for a good product. Freddy was a well put together product in this fighting game.

No, it won't. As long as people can get along and STOP bringing up the usual flame wars that usually comes up whenever Freddy's name gets mentioned, this thread will be fine. The discussion could be had, but both sides need to stop flaming, the antagonism isn't just from the Freddy haters, it's from both camps.

Since we're all cool with each other most of the time, there is no reason for us to not be cool with each other and respectful now, Freddy is not that serious to provoke flame wars whether people like him or hate him.

And to answer the question on why Freddy? I can only assume it was because he was highest selling DLC, most likely the reason, not to mention they'd wanna put a high profile DLC out there (though it wouldn't have been my choice).

Objectively speaking, the only new move he really brought to the forefront was that sleep inducing green goo from the sky, which is a cool move and all.

The other moves aren't really unique to Freddy, not that it's a bad thing, but just an observation I'm making on the subject.

I can't recall opponents from previous games, not including MK2011 to have their projectiles walk across the ground or pop up close/med/far from the ground. I find those unique.
