I'm sure you not buying them won't affect things that much.

This is AWESOME news!
Lay off the Haterade you haters! LOL

I'd much prefer more Mortal Kombat characters for my Mortal Kombat game.
Or are we just throwing in everything remotely related to blood and gore now? Will the guy from Splatterhouse show up? The Bride from Kill Bill? Marv from Sin City? The puppet from SAW?
Sorry. Can't say I would approve, not when there so much more time and effort that could be spent on worthy MK characters instead.

I'd buy it... but...
Considering that it took them 20 years to even get a Freddy vs Jason movie because each character is owned by a different company, I'm not sure I believe either of them (who if you've seen the movie, didn't let either of their characters die at the hands of the other) would agree to that, much less both of them agreeing to terms set forth to have them each in the game.
That's 2 movie studios and a game studio trying to work out a contract. I can just picture it, Benny Hill music in the background and all.

WB axctually does own FREDDY and JASON because they own New Line as well.
Make it the 80s versions, before Freddy was actually a child molester and when Jason had character and personality.

I hardly think being a child killer is any better than being a child molester. But that's a different discussion for a different rainy day.

All three IPs are owned by Warned Bros. now so this could very well pan out.

I'm a fan of all and would love to see Jason and Freddy go at it on the X-Box, Mortal Kombat Style. I'll buy them and won't whine at all, HERES the chance to actually see it happen and no other better game for it to happen with.
Imaging Freddy dragging them up a wall, turning them into a bug, play puppet-master with their veins, bursting out of their chest, or making them eat their own stomach.

I'm down with this if a few conditions are first met.
1. This truly is a Halloween release.
2. NRS already have released 2-4 two character DLC'S.
3. This is the last DLC before they begin working full go on a new project.
This would be a fun add-on as long as they are finished with pure MK additions. This is not a problem if any other viable MK characters are being saved for the next full game.

If they start adding outside Mortal Kombat stuff by the busload, it will not be an MK game anymore as far as I am concerned. It will become a farce. I am a Jason fan, not so much a Freddy fan since the last movie messed up the series for me.
Anyway, I do not believe that ANY movie characters should be involved. I mean they have a fighting game for monsters on the internet already: Terrordrome. This is Mortal Kombat not King of Fighters/Monsters 2011.
Kratos I can see the point, but other outside characters just isn't right.
It will cheapen the series for me, and that I hope will not come to pass.
I say no more outside characters.

Actually, having Freddy as a child killer versus a child molester was not as believable or creepy as the latter. Child killers are a rare breed, unfortunately the latter are not. Back then horror films involved killing kids or kids killing (such as Pet Semetary, The Exorcist, Children of the Corn, and Lord of the Flies, which some may not see as a horror film). In fact, the original Freddy was supposed to do both - however a news story broke about that and the producers decided it would be bad taste then to do that. The new producers should have kept that same idea - the new Freddy has not been a major success and NECA is continuing their merchandising on the classic Freddy. This Freddy was creepy vs scary and focused on shock-value. That's not really horror but shock-value, a new genre that won't make the official list of genres.

I like this idea actually and I hate guest characters, however I could totally see Jaso Voorhees in the Netherrealm. Something about it just works. Freddy is a farther stretch but I think his moves and finishers could be very cool.
I just want Jason to have a Camp Crystal Lake Stage, and a move where he freezes the opponent and slowly walks toward them then slices them. (Think Quan's hypnosis in reverse.)
