Yeah, having a character fighting nude the whole way through an arcade ladder, not to mention appearing online ALL THE TIME (face it, it's what most teens are gonna use online if true) is a little beyond "partial" nudity. I am starting to lean towards the teddy bear outfit.

I really wish we never found out about Cyber Sub. That would have been really cool to find on your own.

Now that I think about it, I'm thinking he'll be the unlock you get after being challenge tower.

In story mode, we can see Sub-Zero and Smoke hiding in Outworld. During this trip, They can spend the night in the living forest were Sub has a nightmare were he actually IS caught, and we get to see him transformed into a cyborg in the operation room lupinko mentioned in his twitter leak.
Sub-Zero wakes up scared shitless and realizes that he's all by himself. Smoke is gone. End Sub-Zero chapter.
Ed Boon has been teasing some epic scenes in story mode and I can easily see this dream sequence happening. It provides a new character, without pissing off a lot of fans

This.
That and the fact there is a "Dream Kombat" mode that was seen during the Challenge Tower video, so it doesn't rule out the possibility Cyber Sub-Zero can be fought during a nightmare of some sorts. Cyber Sub-Zero could easily appear in a Dream Sequence Kuai Liang has during his story scenes.

Another good scenario.
Like the Star Wars scene with Luke training and he sees a vision of Darth Vader, chops off his helmet and sees himself in the armor. What Luke very easily could have become if corrupted.
Similar scenario with Sub-Zero, he probably barely escaped the Lin Kuei coming down after him for automation, as Smoke did not. If it went down almost any other way, they'd both be cyborgs.
In the chance he escapes again, a nightmare like this probably happens all too often.

Well...yeah...that is what I was getting at in my post. If it was going to have full nudity as an alternate, it would be labeled "nudity", not "partial nudity".
I'm more annoyed that this more or less confirms why Smoke won't be a cyborg and why it won't be canon. But I'd still like to see him in the game regardless and there's always hope for the DLC suggestion list. and I just know Rain, C.Smoke and Kenshi will be the most popular choices.

And now a message from Cyborg Smoke:

Hello Kombatants, Look at Sub-Zero. Now back to me, now back to Sub-Zero. Now BACK to me. Sadly, He isn't me..but if he stopped being a defiant Lin Kuei member and underwent the cyborg transformation He could be like me. Look Down, Back Up. Where are you? We've had multiple Sub-Zeroes for ages now. Would another one honestly surprise you? In this game alone, we'll have Noob, Kuai Liang, and whatever this thing turns out to be. Three different versions of one concept in one game alone.

Other characters who have nothing to do with Sub's angle are plenty interesting already. Everyone's got their fans.

If you actually think that making Kuai Liang into a robot is going to resolve stories and free up characters, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. If the Lin Kuei are portrayed as successful in automating Sub, it's either Smoke becomes the big magic hero and stops them in the exact same way Sub did with his help in the original telling - a boring and predictable result - or he doesn't, and they start expanding and spreading. That's probably lead to more people getting involved in the LK drama. The Special Forces get called in, etc.

And for all that Scorpion being Sub-Zero's protector was used, it may as well not even have existed. It was referenced in Scorpion's UMK3 ending, which didn't happen, And Scorpion's purpose in that game was to serve Kahn anyway - his plot occurs completely independent of the LK scenario.

You know what, maybe they'll actually make something out of that if Kuai Liang gets converted. Scorpion steps in to smack down cyborgs to fulfill his vow of protection, anyone?

Oh, and Frost did not die; she was put on ice and she reawoke in MK Unchained.

I don't present any of those examples as absolutes, I'm just speculating on the possible outcomes. It is certainly possible it could suck as much as it could be awesome. But the wrong attitude is to say "Cyber Sub Zero = suck guaranteed" at this point. How can you say nothing good can come of this when so much good has come of so many other things before?

You've provided a myriad of pre-existing examples that took other potentially "bad" decisions and turned them into valid plot fuel, but you say this ones a dead end. I ask why? Why is Cyber Sub Zeros so bad? When Frost's death was okay? When Goro's death was okay?

Sub represents an avenue of opportunity for a myriad of characters because he's so integral to the plot. Him not being the goody goody Lin Kuei poster boy changes the entire landscape of whatever happens in Earthrealm after Shao Kahn gets beat down (if he even gets beat down this time around)

Again I say, if all you want is for Sub Zero to become MKA Sub Zero, then just play MKA. But, if that never happens, you get a ton of new opportunities for like 10 characters. Isn't that more interesting?

Perhaps if the writing staff, if the general direction of the game appeared to be on a decline, I would side with you, I would say they obviously have no idea whats going on. But the same people that rescued the plot from so many mistakes in the past are the same ones who made this decision, I personally have faith.

In 2 months haters definitely gon' hate but the reality is MK will survive this change in one of its integral chars. Its done it before, it will do it again.

It kinda reminds me of the rumors going around the arcades around here "back in the day" when MK3 first came out and we found out Robot Smoke even existed. There were all of these rumors flying around that people swore that you could play as Cyber Reptile. Good times.

I love Sub-Zero, and honestly, I'm not too bothered by this. I am more curious as to how the character is going to look and fight. I am sure the story will work itself out, whether an alternate possibility, a dream sequence as mentioned, or if he is maybe rescued after automation and brought back, like Picard from the Borg. Something like that.

Seriously though, let's not just destroy something before we know the context. It could be non-canon. It also could be canon and make 100% sense under the games story. Also, the character may actually be good and let's not overlook that as the most important thing in a fighting game.

You shouldn't.

The price I pay for every second that I hold back the magma-like bile rising in the back of my throat, is intense stomach cramps.

Caring about Mortal Kombat has finally become bad for my physical health.

I always knew XiahouDun was the smarter of the two of us, for finding a way to stop caring and leave the fandom.

From re-reading the thread, I have to say Razor, this is really, really worrying. Don't get me wrong, there are times reading this website when I just flat out don't agree with the tone of some of your posts and you'd drive me mad with it, but even to a perfect stranger...that post above is just worrying to read man. No video game should effect someone that deeply to the point it's effecting their mental and physical health.

If a video game, a fictional storyline, has that much of an effect on you, I'd suggest going to visit your local doctor or something and explaining to him how worked up your getting from an upcoming Video Game. To care about a hobby is one thing, I myself am a devoted artist, but when your getting that hysterical it's effecting your health it's really dangerous ground to be threading on amigo. It's one thing to become fanatical about a hobby or interest you have control over, but this is fictional work that other people are creating and are in charge of. To invest so much commitment and emotion in to an ever changing franchise is only putting your hand out to be slapped.

I was in the same boat when the first screenshot of Jill Valentine's grave emerged on the web for Resident Evil 5. I seriously was gutted, I was devastated when I thought she'd never return to the franchise. Did it upset me? Yeah, initially, but I liked the fact that Capcom wanted the storyline to progress without it's main heroine and if anything it made me appreciate her character more. The game came out, Jill was alive, turns out I was worried over nothing. In this case it's an acchievement list that's not even verified yet man, so back away from the internet connection and just relax until it's actually confirmed.

To any fan who's disturbed by this, the sad reality is that Boon hinted at this MONTHS ago. It shouldn't really come as a shock to you if it is true, and to expect the exact same storyline with no changes at all would also be very naive on your behalf considering it's public knowledge that Raiden is altering the events of this timeline by going back in time. We're not going to get the same game we played in the Arcade's all of those years ago, it's a brand new game going down a somewhat familiar road, and change is to be expected if we want MK to survive. We don't know what to expect for now, so it's best to just chill the fuck out and calm down.

Blackcyborg is right, your all getting way too worked up about this. It's fictional for gods sake, there's no need to be getting so damn hysterical. I've been playing this game since I was 3, I'm a lifelong fan, but even with all the years I've been playing MK it scares me sometimes reading the reactions of the fans on this website. There are bigger, more important things in the world to focus on than Reptile's Tail, Scorpion's Toasty Fatality, whether or not Bi Han is now a Robot, or Mileena's eye colour, and while your perfectly entitled to complain about all of that here, it should not push you to the point your getting so hysterical. It's a video game, it's supposed to be something fun, not the catalyst to your own insanity.
My exact response.

As a few have said throughout these 22 pages, I've used the XBox360Achievements website for a year or so now and I've never seen anything they've posted become proven as false so I'm pretty confident saying this is 100% legit., especially seeing as the Portal 2 achievements leaked last week and doesn't that come out the same week as MK?

Anyways, I feel for fans who don't want a Cyber Subby but I could care less. After everything I've seen about this game so far, this doesn't bother me in the least. In just over a month I will be getting my hands on what could possibly be one of the greatest MK games to date and another Cyborg is just fine. The events of the history of MK are changing, I accept that. The same as when comics go back in time and change stuff, or things get taken out or rewritten or retconned or whatever the hell happens; shit happens. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it's just either A) Original Sub's body in Cyborg form like several here have suggested or B) A new Lin Kuei assassin with ice powers all together.

Anyways, about the rest of the achievements. Quan Chi? Completely expected, especially after the leaked voice files but hey, I'm not complaining. Good ole Quan deserves his spot in this game, especially being such a complete badass and it serves as a great tie-in to remaking MK4.

As for Secret Characters, I think even though they reference other characters such as Jade, Reptile and such, since Raiden has time-travelled back, maybe new characters appear in their places? LIke maybe Sareena as the Brotherhood reference, or the red-clad chick as Hidden Fighter #1, someone like female Khameleon at the bottom of the pit instead of Reptile, ext ext. Anyways, either way it goes, I'm ecstatic to say the least. Bring on April!

MK fans in general care about things other fighting game fans don't care about. Most people just want a game to be balanced and have as many characters as possible with a variety in them. A lot of people in the MK community care about how a character's hair looks or if a story plot goes the way they want. These things are irrelevant to the people who will break the game down and see how good it actually stands against the greats out there. This is not a generalization and is not meant to demean a community I love either, it's just an observation.

Man I really feel for you guys that took this so hard. I hope it doesn't ruin the game for you. :(

For me it's interesting development. While I have my favorites amongst characters, I take MK story as the whole. I'm not shaken by something bad happening with my favorites as long as it serves for the good of the storyline as the whole.
With that in mind I think Cyber-Zero could have an interesting potential. But at the moment he is too much a wild card to predict how he will affect storyline. And how everything changes because of him, if he is indeed canon character and not some "what-if / nightmare" character.
If it's indeed Sub-Zero Jr., well I think it could be interesting. Also some people that said that Sub-Zero have great story - there is news for you: he had great story. You must remember that he is storyline is no more valid - it's a time travel and everything that happened in the MK4-MKA is no longer in effect.
Even if Sub-Zero will not be transfromed into cyborg, it doesn't automatically guarantee that his storyline MK10 onward will repeat MK4-MKA plot. In other words even without transformation his story could change and he
will not fight Sektor over control of the Lin Kuei and he will not change Lin Kuei for the force of good. I personally want his story to be changed since I don't see much point in repeating MK4-MKA stuff after MK9, which is tribute / remake / rebbot of the classic games.

As for the other stuff - I wonder how many hidden characters are in the game and does those fights in arcade ladder means that you will fight secret characters or it's just a tribute for the hidden chars from 2D games.

I am glad that Quan Chi in this. It would be even better if there were more post-MK3 characters, since I like some of them much better than classic, but it probably will not be the case.

And as for the Millena 3rd costume. I expect anything. Given how most of the female characters costumes are tasteless fanservice, I will not be surprised if she would be nude, as muc as it would stupid and uncreative.

In the end It's sad that nowadays it's hard, almost impossible, to hide secret stuff in the game. I believe that maybe a week before the game release there already would be spoilers for the storyline and majority of the secrets will be revealed.

^That. You can't just sneak a fully playable naked character in a game. Also, this is a fighting game, the nudity in HR and GTA:L&D made sense story wise, there's absolutely no justification for a nude fighter.

I was personally under the impression that because Cyber Sub-Zero was part of the secret achievements that the character is just a non-canon, secret, extra character. I don't know if Sub-Zero will actually become a cyborg in the game's storyline and it seems that they might address the whole Sub-Zero/Noob Saibot relationship this early and I could guess it might take place in the MK3 era. So I don't think Cyber Sub-Zero will be part of the story. Unless there's some info I missed that says he would.

I mean I don't think Sub-Zero will truly be changed considering he's pretty iconic. I mean he's on the cover of the game along with Scorpion and he's being promoted heavily through other merchandise. So I think there's a good chance to see Cyber Sub-Zero as a what if, extra character of some sorts. One of the ideas I saw here said he could be the reward you get after completing the challenge tower. Sounds possible imo.
