Going strictly off that image (which again, probably isn't even Smoke), he looks BAD.

im not saying he looks amazing but BAD is just ones opinon correct. NRS had another opinion. Im not saying it is smoke but thats what my money is on at this point. unless fugin (sp?) is in the game, i dont see why him or raiden would wear a mask or sommthing similar to a umk3 ninja outfit

You guys are getting mad about an unconfirmed blurred out tiny screen shots were you can't even see any detail to 100% be sure about your opinion.

Seems like the same people that bitched about Shang Tsung in Liu Kangs video but jizzed when the Kombat Kontiunes trailer was released.

Wait for solid gameplay. Than complain.

I think the new hair gives personality to Smoke for sure and as we saw the alternative costume for Ermac, the alternative costume for Smoke will probably be more ninja-esque either way. We should probably wait and see until we'll make further conclusions though.

ugh hate to post three things in a row. but honestly im not trying to be a dick, but smoke fans (im one myself) his alt will be good. Nrs will likely give us a stealthy ninja smoke, unless we get the vapor (which nobody liked i doubt they would do it again) that leavs us two options for an alt. another ninja type design or a cyborg (but lets not even get into that lol)

Have faith in NRS. smoke fans, one way or another you will get a "likeable smoke" in this game. wheather it be alt (or thats not smoke)

Well remember, these aren't our final conclusions. Everything we're saying is based on whether this pic is a proper representation. If it's not, awesome.

The exception being the white hair: I think that's a bad move no matter what direction they go. Giving a smoke-based character white hair is uncomfortably gimmicky, and gimmicks are the very thing that ruined characters like Frost and Khameleon. I don't want Human Smoke to share that same fate.

if it is indeed smoke, the only reason im failing to see this gimmicky thing everyone is talking about is because he looks like a lin kuei grandmaster (which he is not but he looks lin kuei, which is fine by me and not terribly out of character)

That's something that came to my mind as well. Maybe this is a hint towards Smoke's future position as a/the Lin Kuei grandmaster.

Really? They use the model in story mode but you cant use it... wow. I may as well ask does noob get his classic. I gesse ermac counts as mk 1 because he was the whole macro error. (sp) Kinda pointless not to have them in. well in that case hell definetly have a more ninja alt.

If this is indeed new Smoke costume it would be cool.
I am surprised that some people didn't like it. It seems that they expected Smoke to look like UMK3 ninja...But that clealry wouldn't be the case in this game. It's not 1996 anymore.

Also I don't get why some people saying that he looks like an old man? He has shoulder length white hair, but in itself it doesn't mean that the character is old or anything like that.
It just looks like some people trying to find some bad things...in everything. Even if they assumptions are clearly imaginatory speculations.

I just don't think the dude should have hair that makes him look like a poncy reject from a mallgoth-appeal flick like Underworld.

There's no real confirmation that it is klassic smoke in raiden's video...there are two ninjas that are the same color (one is in the shade) so I think they're background characters and not really smoke. That being said, a gray classic costume does exist so it COULD be given to Smoke sometime down the road.

I honestly don't think it's him. The Lin Kuei dont seem like the type of clan that would allow their members to dress outside of the basic uniform. Even if it is only showing his hair, I find it hard to believe that if he WAS Smoke, that the Grandmaster would be happy to let one of his most established assassin's parade around with long, noticeably white hair when he's renowned for being stealthy and fast. The typical ninja attire would suit him perfectly, not flamboyant locks of hair.

I'm thinking this is Raiden's black alt that Lupinko was on about. I find that very hard to believe this image is of Smoke, and I wont believe it until he's actually revealed in high quality.
I think when smoke is cleaned up(not full of battle damage with a clearer picture) that his costume is actually closest to the classic umk 3 look out of all the ninjas. Personally when i thought of how they where going to redesign smoke was a hoodless version of the umk3 look with short white or gray hair. I was just wrong about hair length,and i like it.I don't know why but i kind of think the look works with his new backstory,could just be me though. For those who hate it,hopefully there is an alternate with a hood.

Your saying this about a clan with robots with bright yellow and red paint jobs. Hell there main ninja wears light blue. Mortal Kombat designs always have been more flashy then practical anyway.

I'm keen on the idea of him having this look. it certainly fits the idea of him originally being from Prague. That dark "smoke figure" around his head could probably be a part of his form like having some sort of "smoke-kinesis" creating things out of smoke. No matter what, i personally think that the ninja smoke/cyborg smoke needed a reboot and I'm excited for Smoke to be finally given some sort of identity.

The 3 examples you mentioned though are not notorious for their stealth though, where as Smoke is. That's kinda what his whole gimmick is.

Can't he disappear at will and aren't his powers self concealing? Not really much point in wearing stealthy cloths if you have a permanent smoke screen.
