So I always pictured her as a bit of a snobbish aristocrat, but what would she have been like when Shao Kahn still ran the place?

Most defnitely agree.
I think she was posing as being fearful to Kahn, and somehow knowing ofher homeworld and trying to get it free, so that Shinnok could begin his invasion. Her father should have been alive during Kahn's initial invasion and could have told Tanya about their former realm of Edenia.

Appearance wise, I loved her MKD main outfit. It was simple yet beautiful, her corset like bustier and the sash looked good on her, the boots were quite cool and different from all the thigh-high boots most of the other girls wore, and the black and yellow design was quite nice. Different from her MK4 outfit, yet similar enough for her design to be consistent. I also loved her hair in MKD and she had an almost egyptian theme about her which I think fits her perfectly. I'd like for something similar to return.
I don't like the black superhero mask though. Instead give her some black make-up that might seem a bit excessive to give her a villainous look.
I prefer the tonfa-blades from MKD over the boomerang. Jade already have a boomerang-like weapon, and having both dark females to have a boomerang would just be plain silly. The tonfa-blades are unique and cool for melee fighting and I could totally see Tanya use them instead of unarmed fighting.
I see Tanya more as a sorceress character, being a politician and a diplomat instead of a warrior and have dwelled in some dark arts, using fire as her main element of sorcery. I liked how they implemented fire into her special moves besides her fireballs, the Split Flip Kick and the Human Cannon Drill as well, to show that she has become more powerful in the magic arts. Also her newest move, Find Me which is an invisibility spell, fit her perfectly as it could hint to that she prefers to stay out of fighting and hide in the shadows than directly engage in a battle if it can be avoided.
Story-wise, if Tanya will appear in this game as a DLC, it could be her trying to make a bond of trust with Kitana and Sindel, convincing them that she is on their side and wishes to help them free Edenia, all the while she is two-timing them by being a spy for Shinnok and helping him and Quan Chi to find a way to enter Edenia.
Personality-wise, I loved how they presented Tanya in MK4, being a heavy flirtatious and charming woman, using her looks and sexuality to seduce men and gain their trust, playing the innocent girl while actually being a treachorous snake. Her personality was kinda devoided in MKD which I think is a shame.
The only fatality I liked of Tanya's is her MK4 Neck Breaker fatality. It was simple yet cool. All her other fatalities were kinda boring. I'd like it if she used her sorcery in a fatality, maybe doing some ritual chanting to make the opponent burst into fire and then laugh evilly at them as the opponent's flesh burns from his bones. Again, it's simple and it is something else than the typical dismemberment fatalities which we've seen so many of lately.

I am quite fond of Jennifer Hendrick's design of Tanya. They were cool, and very fitting for the character.
I also like how she should be working with Sindel and Kitana, but I don' think i shuld be revealed in this game that she is working for Quan Chi and Shinnok.
I would enjoy her MK4 style personality, as opposed to the one in MKD, where she was not really up to par with how she was established.
Neck Snap is a must for a fatality, and I only liked her Slice/Impale from MKD.
A black magic esque fatality would be really fitting for her. It'd be both something other than a dismmberment and sort of a hint to Shinnok and Quan Chi.

I don't like fire-magic on her, it would be cooler to become an illusionist character, nobody uses illusions, and her with invisibility it would be a kind of illusionistic art for her.
Trickery and illusions goes well togehter, and with her deceptive background it would all make sense to me, she must become the Mastermind (x-men enemy) character from MK.
I loved her deception looks, I didn't really liked her mk4 looks, and a yellow ninja kitana alternative would be sweet, I would be curious to see that in yellow, would look cool!

She needs to be convince us that she is trying to help the good guys and keep her betrayal a secret until the right time.
I also would like her rid of fire based attacks and would think it interesting to see her attacks like illusions, etc. But I'd prefer she'd have black magic like attacks from her service to Shinnok and Quan Chi.

It can be assumed, Tanya is around the same age as Kitana and that she has little memories and attachments to Edenia, then somehow met Quan Chi and fell into the service of him and Shinnok. As opposed to fighting for a defeated realm.

I like the cannon drill, that's one of my favorite moves. But with her fatalities... what the fuck were her fatalities in Deception? They were hardly entertaining at all. Different, yes, but interesting? No!!! Yeah, she had another kiss of death fatality, but I wouldn't have mind seeing that rather than... popping bones out of knee caps and sticking them in eyes.
Her neckbreaker was sick. Freaking sick.
I wouldn't do anything with her appearance. I liked her look, both primary and alternate in Deception, at least they didn't screw that up.
If she's in this game by any means necessary, I would love to see what they have for her.
That's all I really have to say for my short stay here today.

Her moves did become rather lack luster with the inclusion of fire, and I only liked her MKD fatality where she sliced and then impaled the opponent with her weapon.
I ask for her eyes to be normal like they were in MK4. I don't care much for the undead eyes.

I really liked Tanya's costumes in MKD, except I did not like how she had the criss cross lacing, that should only be for the female ninjas, which Tanya arguably does not fall under that category.
I dont care to discuss her for this game because I have no interest in DLC. Im just going to stick with the game as is when I get it.
For future games, I would like to see Tanya suffer for being a traitor to Edenia. I think it would be cool if Edenia became the most powerful realm, Sindel and Kitana became power hungry and took over other realms and Tanya is a prisoner of war. Tanya with the criss cross lacing suits her, imo.
That would be a disgrace to Kitana, Jade and Tanya. Kitana and Jade don't torture people and Tanya is just running away, actualy longing to retun to Edenia. She'd probably be imprisoned by Kitana and murdered by Jade, but her being tortured is worng.

After watching her gameplay in MKD and seeing her face, she started become more bland and boring. There was nothing special about her, it was just another random character thrown in the mix.
If they bring her back for MKD, I would like them to give her a bit more personality. If they don't do that, then its best to leave her out. I'd rather see a character at its full potential then see a random character thrown in there. In MKD, I felt like they made a female, put yellow on her and said, "hey lets just call this one Tanya."

Another thing I didn't like about her MKD appeareance was that her primary/alternate costumes had 2 different skin tones.

That is exactly what happened!
Kitana was supposed to be in MK4 but TPTB freaked out because there weren't enough new characters in the game.
Kitana was then transformed into Tanya. (Ironically, Tanya was supposed to be in MK2; she became either Kitana or MIleena but her name can be seen in the credits).

I've always hated Tanya's character, but liked what she looked like. Everything from her moves, to her story element. If they ever bring her back, I hope they bring her back completely different.
Kill the association to the other ninja girls in her design, maybe keep that she's not aligned with good, and change all her moves around. eugh...
I guess I like that she's "black" or whatever...but eh. That's not really helping anything for me either.

I'm neutral about Tanya in her MK4 appearance, but since MKD she is just another fire user, how many do we need? Like seriously, fire is extremely boring.

I loved Tanya in MK4 but, I agree that she was so lackluster in MKD. I always used to do her neck snap thingy too. XD
Now, as DLC for this game, I feel it'd be really awkward to have her in now. She could make a cameo, but her story didn't really begin until MK4.
And, honestly, I'd much prefer the next MK game to have a brand new storyline featuring a select amount of post-MKT characters (Tanya being number 1 followed closely by Kenshi, the rest can go blow).

Tanya is NOT a ninja. She is Lin Ku-.... Er, an ambassader's daughter.
Tanya's Special Moves:
-----------------------------------
Human Cannon Drill: This is arguably her most iconic special move, it can pop the opponent up for a few hits. In Deception, it was given a trail of fire.
Surging Blast: In MK4, this was a purple-ish, or magenta colored projectile, that was replaced in favor of fire attacks. It can also be done in air.
Air Fire Blast: See above, except Tanya jumps in air to do this move.
Split Flip Kick:This almost gravity defying kick, ended with her doing the the spilts and knocking the opponent down.
Find Me: This is another invisibility move, but she just spins around and disappars into a haze of flame.
As you can tell above, Tanya does not have the most orignal of moves, so that's why I'd like some to be replaced in favor of other, better ones.
Firstly, Surging Blast and Air Fire Blast would greatly benefit from a fireless version and if they cannot think of anything else, go back to the original. I'd also recommend a change to the projectile's color, so it doesn't look too simialr to Sindel's. They could change it to a yellowish tint as a reference to her fire attacks.
The trails in her Cannon Drill, and Split Flip Kick should match her projectile, along with the haze of her invisibility.
---------------------------------------------
Enhanced Attacks:
Projectile: (Both in the air and on the ground)
*Shoots a larger projectile that knocks the opponent back farther, or knocks down.
Cannon Drill:
*It's faster, has better recovery, and lifts the opponent higher. (Does less damage)
Split Flip Kick:
*Knocks opponent farther a greater distance.
Invisibility
*Does not lose invisibilty when hit, or when she does special moves. Harder to detect. (No predator style cloaking, or shadows).
As for new moves, some should include her boomerang.
An example:
Boomerang Toss:
Tanay throws her boomerang and it goes around the opponent and hits them from the back, slightly pushing the foward. In juggles, she throws it and it knocks her opponent towards her, so she can get more hits in the combo.
What do you all think?

I wouldn't give her an invisibility move, it doesn't fit the character much. I mean, Reptile turns invisible 'cause chameleons blend into their surroundings, Smoke turns invisible 'cause dropping a smoke bomb and going "Ninja VANISH!" is what ninjas do. What reason does Tanya have to disappear? Just being a tricky person? Shit, Shang Tsung's a tricky person, he doesn't turn invisible.
Definitely needs a boomerang, though. A real one that comes back to her, not a spinning blade that doesn't actually have anything to do with boomerangs like Jade's.
They could work like Batman's did in vsDCU, like she chucks it high, and that'll hit anti-air, but if it missed, then it comes back on the rebound and hits low.
And she's gotta have the shoulder-sit necksnap as at least an X-Ray if not a throw or command grab.
Also, her fireballs need to be purple again like in MK4. There are too many flame characters, she should appear to be more a sorcery character, at least visuals/special effects-wise.

I couldn't think of a decent Enhanced version for that invisibilty that'd suit her style. But even though it's a cool move, she could lose it.
The more boomerang moves, the merrier. ^_^ Just as long as it isn't overdone. I'm not sure if she should hold the boomerang like Jade holds her staff, or magically summon it.
I was just just watching a playthrough of her in MK4 and noticed the sit and neck snap was her throw, and I think it'd work best in her fatality or X-Ray, even though I had thought of a completely different idea for it.

It was her "Breaker" move. In MK4, every character had two throws. One actually tossed the opponent, the other was a "bone breaker", which just grabbed one of their limbs and snapped it gruesomely, then the character would just quickly snap it back into place and resume fighting.
Visually, it was kinda like the X-Rays are now, just without the internal camera view. In terms of that whole "How the hell did they just get their neck snapped backwards and can still fight?" thing, lol.

Visually, it was kinda like the X-Rays are now, just without the internal camera view. In terms of that whole "How the hell did they just get their neck snapped backwards and can still fight?" thing, lol.
Interesting.Though I wouldn't want it to be spoiled by having it as her X-Ray and fatality.

Well given a choice between the two, I'd rather it be an X-Ray than a Fatality. I feel like they could maybe come up with something better for her actual finishers. (I'd particularly like her version of the Kiss of Death to come back, where their joints all suddenly and horrifically bend the wrong way.)
Though the way the head wouldn't stop spinning after she hopped off in the Fatality version was pretty amusing.

I've always thought the idea of Tanya working for Shang Tsung, like his apprentice would be a cool idea

Reminds me of Vorpax from Mortal Kombat: Conquest.
Anyway, seeing Tanya with a mask would make me die a little inside. Come on. Must everyone be a freaking ninja? Let it go.

I move to bring both back as fatalities. Those were her greatest, imo, and I'm not too confident in their ability to make interesting fatalities for her. (Looking at you MKD.)
One of my absolute favorite MK4-era characters, and very possibly in my top ten. The boomerang should absolutely make a return; were it up to me I'd straight up replace her fireballs with it. Didn't really feel the Kobu Jutsu weapons from MKD - now that Stryker's back in the house, I feel he should have a monopoly on things tonfa-related. I'd also ditch the MKD invisibility, though. Enough people have it already.
Those aside, I wouldn't change a thing about her moveset. She feels kinda like a street fighter character in an MK game - Chun-Li's hazan shu, Cammy's cannon drill, Akuma's air fireball. I enjoy that.
Neck-breaking spin is a must. She needs something else though; too many ladies kissing enemies to death already. Something completely new; for the life of me I can't even recall one of her MKD fatals off the top of my head, and I remember her ripping out thigh-bones or rib-bones and jamming them into her enemy's neck for the other one, which I found exceedingly clumsy and dumb. Maybe she could whip out a kobu jutsu or boomerang, jump into the air, set it on fire, and whip it down into the enemy's chest so the flames spread and they burn to death.
Always had one of the better designs, but boy, do I ever agree that this is the one lady who should be rocking heels. Those giant yellow galoshes from Deception pissed me off.
Were she included, I'd enjoy actually seeing her as a neutral figure under Kahn's regime, always out for self, someone who plays both sides. She could help Kitana escape from Kahn during the MK3 period, perhaps for a price (IIRC we don't actually know exactly how Kitana managed that - Not that she needs help or anything, but she might have had it). She could then follow her in secret, find out where the Earthrealm warriors are located, and report back to Kahn so he can send out his extermination squads. That's basically the type of behavior I'd expect from her.
I'd have her ending be such that her capacity for duplicity hasn't gone unnoticed, and Quan Chi steps forward with his offer, which she accepts.
