Shinnok was just an Elder God just like his fellow Elder Gods. Raiden is an earth God who answers to them. He is in charge of the Lightning element which would explain why he is the god of Thunder. When Shinnok was defeated, he was stripped of his Power and Status as an Elder God by his Fellow Elder Gods and Stripped of his Amulet by Raiden himself. So after those events he is no longer a God

Just a tip, do not post in threads that are over 3 months old. It's against the rules.
On topic, I think that he has a tendancy towards darkness. I admit that. But he was an Elder God, not a god. Therefore, he wasn't the god of anything.

The last thing I expected to see when I came in here was something agreeable. I certainly prefer to think of Elder Gods as distinct (and more expansive) than their sanctioned subordinates.
Lord knows making an Elder God a non-descript patch of swirly mist or flame isn't terribly ominous.

If you want to bring the movie into it, it seems he was an air/wind god of some sort. However I always like the idea that he was the Elder God of Shadows...where I got that idea I have no idea but it seems to suit him especially since he was defeated by someone who uses LIGHT-ing as a weapon.

MKA movie messed up so many things, that was one of them. Besides, I don't think he was ever the god of wind in MKA. When Raiden was resurrected by the Elder Gods, they made him the God of Wind at the End(or so it seemed anyway) in an Elder God form.
