Fatalities: Fatal or Not?

This has been picking at the back of my mind for quite a while now, and I just thought I'd bring it up to see what some of the other MK fans think.
I'm sure that some of you have noticed some inconsistencies between what is fatal and what is not in the MK Universe.
For a few examples:
+ Sonya's Neckbreaker
+ Impaling - Not fatal in DA, fatal in every other game
+ Superman/Sheeva's Railroad Spike
+ Falling from heights - Meteor Storm arena was ok, Pit II - you're screwed
+ Other stuff I can't think of right now
So, how do you all feel about this? I'm not trying to complain, just trying to gather opinions on how the users feel about the inconsistency in certain moves considered fatal in one game and not fatal in another.
And before the complaints roll in, yes I'm perfectly aware that this is just a game and not beholden to the same laws as our reality. I just wanna know how we as a community feel.

We as a community never agree on anything. That's what we as a community think.

Whether you agree is not my concern, nor my expectation.

You know, I never truly thought about this until now and you have
definitely brought up some very good points. In MK Armageddon,
being kicked down a staircase and surviving, I can see happening.
However, being knocked off a bridge and and hitting the concrete,
you're not getting up from that. MK certain is not consistent with this
type of thing. But I guess at the end of the day, its all fun. But it would
be nice to see an MK game where those inconsistencies are utilized
in a more realistic fashion.

I agree with warrior Princess. But I think Sonya's and Tanya's neck snap throws would make for good custom fatals. Think abnout it, just press one button and your character quickly dispatches the opponent, but the REAL fatals will be cinimatic like always.

I , for one, enjoy Neckbreaker fatalities. I just like the concept, and that wonderful "KRAHCK!" sound they make. Sure, there is almost zero Blood/gore, but that's the most realistic fatality, probablly.
Now, if only I can see a Neck Breaker Fatality, performed via Tombstone Piledriver..........
