I say who ever buys midway should fire the management that ran midway into the ground. The only thing with Warner Bros that makes me feel good about is that at least you know you have a company that you don't have to worry to much about money.Think about it,with WB owning Midway you could have a return of a new MK show that would be on the CW,you have another MK movie faster cause I am sure they would get the rights back from threshold considering their doing not a damn thing with it.And we know if anything else,we will have another MK game no matter if its a cross over or just plain MK.And we could have other little things like MK comics and so on.

Perhaps I'm one of the few that thinks Ubisoft would be good.

I think Ubisoft has a very good gaming pedigree, they're known for taking risks, and they have a wide spectrum of good games.

Prince of Persia, Assassin's Creed, Beyond Good & Evil, Rainbow Six, Splinter Cell, FarCry, No More Heroes, XIII, and other games are quite popular, either as massive critical hits or successful cult games.

Admittedly, they have a lot of crap out there too (really, another Ravin' Rabbids game?), but they've got a competent head on their shoulders.

Warner Bros., however, I can't see as anything other than a company that would force shoddy movie tie-ins at us and admittedly care less about gamers and more about profits with very gaming risks or bold new ventures.

Wow.

Well, if WB would let up on the "wholesome goodness" label for MK (forever, lol) I'd run with them. Vertigo, maybe? Way I see it is the WB should have less tolerance for TRUE MK games though(rules are meant to be broken blah, blah, blah).... On the flip side though, they got the money....and all the venues // resources.

Ubisoft is good too, but I'm not sure I see longevity over there. I see a couple of games churned out for the hell of it. But then again, I guess I see the same for if MK goes with WB. Like Garlador said, that movie-game crap is ludicrous, but that's just what they do.

MK would look like WBs linchpin for risk taking, not for Ubisoft. I guess that's how I see that. They'd stand out at WB, and I think that may even privilege them to bigger budgets, product lines, and longer development schedules. They'd just have to constantly fight over the whole M rated thing.

Another dynamic is that they'd probably need to hire better, actual game development talent. Something I trust Ubisoft with a little more than WB. Ubisoft at least knows what they're doing with a video game. lol And on the flip side of that? WB has the better writers.

Who's the unknown from Chicago again?

If they keep the MK team won't that just mean the only difference we'll see is the WB logo at the start of the game?

That wasn't because of MK. It was because of the DC crossover. It was also only 1 game.

Midway forced the team to meet dealines as they refuse to delay anything. Meaning games get released unfinished. This is the reason why there are 3 versions of MK3, and 2 or 3 versions of MK4.

Seriously, Ubisoft are not a good development company. They ruined the Tom Clancy games made them more childish, simplified and casual friendly. They rarely, if at all, support their games with patchs even though their games are in serious need of bug fixes.

Ubisoft is the second from last company I would trust with Mortal Kombat.

List of untustworthy companies:
1. Microsoft - Xbox only anyone?? No thank you!
2. Ubisoft - Pump a unit out as regular as sports games with no patch support.
3. Nintendo - Wii only, rated E for everyone, hell no!!
4. EA - Getting better these day but I can still imagine them releasing 1 a year.

Our best bet is a new company set up by the old MK team OR a company who cares more about making a good game rather than how many houses/cars they can buy next year with their fiscal earnings.

Edit your own, or shut up about it. It's getting god damned old.

So, explain to me why WB would keep MK sanitized outside of a DC crossover. I'm really curious about the reasoning behind this, considering they only had affiliation with a single MK game, and that was only due to the DC license.

Most of this thread: BAWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously.

"They are going to take Mortal Kombat away from us and release one game a year and neuter it down and I want to die...;_;"

Because Midway never did that?

Lets just look at the sins of the Midway:

* Sub par engines which gave birth to the palette swap ninja.

* Then they said: No you can't have any "ninja" characters in MK3.

* And no Raiden or Johnny Cage in MK3 and UMK3 because the guy who played him was a bit naughty.

* Proceeded to piss John Tobias off so much he either was sacked or fired.

* Mortal Kombat Gold. Buggy piece of shit, on MY Dreamcast? Its more likely than you think.

* Putting MK on hiatus. All the while not actually producing any significant games during this period.

* MK Deadly Alliance was released. The basic engine is useless. And the dark humour is mostly gone. Its replaced by in jokes.

* After the success of MK: DA, they announce a plan to release a new MK game every year.

* Deception is released. Slight improvement. Little roster continuity. Return of many old characters. Konquest mode is pretty crap.

* Armageddon is released. No bios released. Nothing is really explained. The previous 6 games of MK were just a play thing for a pair of demi god brothers. And no Khameleon in the first version. Fans rage.

* The constant failure to release the Kollectors edition of the games outside of the US.

* MK Vs DCU is announced. The MK Hardkore melts down.

* MK Vs DCU is released. The fighting engine is pretty bloody good. But the general feeling is we would rather have a 100% MK game or a 100% DCU game. But on the plus side we got Alex "Fucking" Ross to draw Raiden.

And somehow, WB or Ubisoft will do a worse job than Midway? I mean, how can they?

Seems to go right along with Midway's mindset.

DS as well. They also did "M" rated when Rare was on-board with Killer Instinct. I fail to see the logic behind that argument. MKA seemed like a good port on Wii as well.

1 a year is too fast for MK. Pardon the bolds...I suck at post editing, but Predator was whining about it.

lmaO! Haha....

White on rice it is then...

I guess from now on I could make a big scene out of it and give you skulls every time, instead of just making the simple request and apparently "whining" about it.

Wasn't a big deal really, but since you criticized me, I should at least make sure I tell you that there's a quality about multiple posting that is actually acceptable. But, who knew you'd react like that though? eh...

That ain't what I said or meant. We all know WB is critical of its own image, and since that is so, anything with the prized "WB" symbol on it yields a certain...."cleansed quality". This is so whether or not the product has violence in it, and regardless of the rating of the content.

So like I said, "duh".

I guess that's why Condemned 2: Bloodshot and F.E.A.R 2 (both published by WB Interactive) are sanitized, huh?

They're rated M, and gory as hell. WB Interactive isn't afraid of gore, and I doubt that will affect MK outside of another DC crossover. I really don't see how WB would "cleanse" MK if they acquired Midway.

If you can give examples of what you think WB might do to MK to screw it up, then, by all means, please elaborate.

I don't think I explained myself properly before:

Lets say Warner Bros. does buy midway and they keep the current MK team as developers of Mortal Kombat, what really will change?

I can't see it going as far as a new logo at the start of the game (and another MK vs. DC game, of course).

Exactly. This is, of course, assuming the MK team would stay with Midway. That's what my argument is fueled by. With any luck, one of the things that *will* change is the MK team will be given enough time to make the games without being rushed and shoved out the door.

Which happens to be something not many of us want.
After Armageddon we were told MK would go back to it's roots and be darker and grittier than ever before, with a whole new generation of fighters.

Then all of a sudden MKvDC is announced!
What happened to this all new MK game we were ALL looking forward to?? Instead we get this diluted cartoon crap-fest. Don't get me wrong, I like Superman, but not in a Mortal Kombat game!

One good thing is I get to repeatedly kill Batman over and over and over and over and.... furious

While I have some internal dread regarding mk ending up with Warner Bros and having to deal with possible corporate interference there are many up sides to it ending up with them.

Warner Bros are one of the biggest entertainment companies in the world. They own DC comics as well. This would mean we have a very good chance of getting more mk comics and a new possibly very well developed movie. Add to that the television ties they have and the ability to have a major financial corp backing it up and this could be a very good thing.

Could be. Maybe. I dunno.

If it's gonna be one of these 3 that get a hold of MK, I'm pulling for WB.

Pros:

- Money will not be an issue any longer.

- MK films and comics are a guarantee

- DLC almost guaranteed.

- Access to DC writers. We all know the story for MK has been deteriorating ever sense Tobias left. Getting Geoff "I Revitalize Franchises as a Hobby" Johns or Grant "You're in for a Mindfuck" Morrison on these games would be fan-fucking-tastic!

Non-issues:

- The company would NOT restrict the violence in a standard MK. Though they most likely would in the inevitable MK vs DCU sequel.

Cons:

- More MK vs DCU. Two more at the VERY least. While I don't dislike the game, I predict the novelty wearing off fast.

If it must be one of these, then PLEASE WB!!!!

WB is big, american and has a positive history with big franchises or taking over big franchises. Please god, if MK goes bye bye from Midway, let WB pick it up.

Ubisoft or this 3rd party company MK=fail

With all due respect, just be the bigger person and let it go; don't ruin the thread with your authority.

Anyhoo, to answer any questions about WB and its fooey:

Warner Bros. has never done anything off the wall before, not even with Queen of the Damned, which was quite a graphic book. They're so stuck on wholesome, they won't let things "go too far." Ubisoft might be good for MK. I like Splinter Cell, so...

Also, even though WB's got money, doesn't mean they can solve every problem. They obviously don't know what the MK fans want, for if they did, the wouldn't have even agreed to the crossover. To hell with Warner Bros!
