Now, anybody worth a damn in mk2 knows that is bull. You must be trying to play a joke on us or something. 3. Another thing, i dont think ANY of you know what high level means. I dont mean being the neighborhood champ. I mean being able to compete nationally. |
1. I never doubted that about MKL, I think he's great...just a little elitist and cocky, I don't get along well with the type.
2. I DID beat a really good Mileena player with Reptile, he wasn't just your run of the mill player he was the one winning all of the damn time everywhere he went. I was destined to defeat him with someone other than my own Mileena or Jax, so I did it with Reptile. It does not concern me if you think we're all scrubby itiots who don't know what we're talking about.
3. LOL, you think I'm an idiot? I've been around, "neighborhood champ"...fuck you JOP.

that's some limb you're out on friend. be carefull, you only have 4 for me to pluck.
neiborhood champ? lemme tell ya, for MK2 i traveled (more like pilgammaged) all over RI and Conn (and some Mass). we HAD to, no one would fight us at home.
go back into your coma and sleep the rest of this thread away, you obviously missed most of it already.
the mileena vs reptie MK2 debate is over.
in MK2 dispite what you think, anyone can beat anyone. especially at high level play. heres a clue: high level play means doing what is deemed imposible to lesser players.
unless you build us a time machine and we all go back for an MK2 exhibition, then this topic is over.
as to worshiping MKL, he never gave us anything on this thread but vauge negative criticism.
but he has given out good combos at some point, he is credited on this thread for them, and for that info i salute him.
also, his arrogance implies he probobly isn't acustomed to losing...
i never said he wasn't good, im sure he's very good. i wish him luck at TiT, win or lose, i'm truly jealous.
i only wanted him to embelish a bit on what makes us suck so bad.
ok, im thru with you, go back to sleep.
we'll wake you when we're done talking.

don't even think of attacking devilgene.
he's a good guy, and a great contributer to this thread.
also very open to listening to new strategies and concepts, until he proves or dis-proves them for himself.
as we all should be.

now back to bussiness...
fought some mediocre players last night who used sonya.
i personnaly never used her, and i don't often see people pick her im my little circles (our group is pretty like-minded in character tastes).
she definitly is good, as i'm sure most people (if not everyone) already know.
her kicks in tae kwon hit me pretty good,
she has a change up combo that hits high low high (or low high low?) and since i don't have a lot of experiance against her, i can see now why she is so highly regarded on this thread.
it didn't matter anyway as the two guys who used her last night were a little light on the block button.
enough skill to show me her potential tho.
her sticks looked pretty good too, nice low hit that took me off guard a few times.
i'll probly go back thru the first page of this thread and review some of whats been said about her, so i can brace up for the future. i know ther's tons of stuff on her that has been contributed by solid players like devilgene, MKL, konqrr, and manny others.

RoboJOP Wrote: salvadonblak, your absolutely wrong. You dont know what high level is my friend. Low level play, any character can beat any character. High level play, characters weakness and strengths become more obvious and tiers are laid out. You will never see a perfectly balanced fighting game, because there will always be characters that have advantages over the others. Look at MVC2, Magneto, Storm, Sentinel....you will never EVER see ryu, megaman or dan beat them. Look at tekken 3... you wont see Gunjack beat ogre or heihachi.....Mk2 jax and mileena ran shit, and thats a fact. Ask any mk2 expert, and they will tell you the same thing. Your obviously no expert. |
you are obviously vulcan or somthing and have no grasp of that beyond the cold logic of the parts and their sum....
your fighter is an avitar. you are saying that you cannot defeat your opponent, and nothing more.
it isn't reptile vs mileena...
it is YOU vs your opponent.
a HUMAN mind against another HUMAN mind.
when you perform moves as easily as thinking of them, and your opponent does as well, the game AT THAT MOMENT becomes a battle of psycology...
the higher the skill of the kombatants then the bar is raised with each new game...
gambit after gambit...
untill the first mistake is death.
tell yourself again how you cannot win and then tell me how you ever could win with such a belief.
don't ever dictate to me what i do and do not know.
'Son i've made a living, out of reading people's faces...

if what you are saying about imbalencd characters deciding the outcome is correct, then what the fuck is the goddamn point?
why not have MK with just Mokap?
then everyone is exactly the same.
or how about just a ninja?
you can pick a palate swap of him in any color of the frikin rainbow.
it seems to me if MK characters are imballanced, and thats all that will ever decide a match's outcome, then this should make for the best fighting game ever...
and every game will always be a draw i suppose...
at the highest of gameplay that is, of course.
it seems to me that true high level players would settle for nothing less.
as for me? if the only way to win was to pick a fighter i didn't like, i wouldn't play the fucking game.
i'd say let the franchise die.

-----------
Shang Tsung:
all i gotta say is Crane stance 3,3,2. that combo is broke. its unpunishible and shang can side step 90% of your moves if u try to punish it. Shang can actually side step 90% of the moves in the game while in crane stance plus hes got a reversal. also off his launchers which r the best in the game he can either do a 29% combo or do a soul steal and get his life back.
-----------
what's shang's 29% combo off his (crane) 3,3,2 which you speak of?
or does anyone else know?
i don't know if im the only PAL user to post on this tread, but a little misc info, seems scorpions free hellfire off a shove has been removed in the PAL version.

its not guarenteed in any version.

I will tell you you DO NOT understand what high level is. Yes it is human vs human and a game of psychology........but in HIGH LEVEL that does not change the FACT that some characters have advantages over others.
You should go and look at some tournament results for some of the more popular games. You always see a group of 2 or 3 characters that come out on top. Why? Because those characters are the best ones and have advantages over the other ones. Why do you think there are tiers in fighting games?
There are characters who simply cannot defeat other characters or have a very hard time doing so.
I gave you some examples in my previous post.
If you cant understand this, there is no more reason for me to arguew ith you.

the top 5 results alone were 7 different characters.
ivy, cervantes, maxi, xianghua, taki, astaroth & nightmare.
and thats just the top 5 alone. another fact, you go all the way down to the top 24 results and only 1 player used cervantes and he got 2nd! and if you look @ all the results in total more than 50% of the games characters were selected and ranked within the top 24 positions.
now if ivy and cervy are clearly the dominating characters why is it there was only 1 cervy in the top 24 and the only other ivy's were in positions 7th,13th and 17th.
and soul calibur II is a popular game and played @ an extremely high level!

RoboJOP Wrote: Look at tekken 3... you wont see Gunjack beat ogre or heihachi |
LOL...have you ever been to Japan my friend? Even against skilled use of Wavedash I've seen Gun Jack win. I'll go out on a limb and say that you can't win with Dr. B or Gon...but I'm sure you're talking about arcade.
New thread topic..."High Level Player Bashing"
Once you get to high-level gameplay, tiers make a hugh difference. And YES, no character is completed unbeatable 100% of time. Humans are playing the game and they make mistakes. But were talking a small, very small percentage that mid/low tier fighters are going to be top ones. Just a fact that there are characters in these games that are unstoppable, if in the right hands

haasjin Wrote: And YES, no character is completed unbeatable 100% of time. |
YES!! That is all I'm trying to say! I never said that I beat Mileena with Reptile on a regular basis, I usually got my ass handed to me...but I won some very intense matches. Let's end this.
JOP, I know that Japan isn't the best...but there are some Gun Jack players there that could beat just about anybody, even mishimas.
LET'S END THIS USELESS DEBATE...

1 of 144,000 - I See Through The Deception - Follow Me
in HIGH LEVEL....not mid level, or mid-high level....gunjack will lose to mishimas I dont think you understand what high level is. Lets face it, if that gunjack player was beating mishimas on constant basis, those mishimas players arent very solid

robojop Wrote: Lets face it, if that gunjack player was beating mishimas on constant basis, those mishimas players arent very solid |
You don't understand what I'm saying...IT IS POSSIBLE FOR ANY CHARACTER TO BEAT ANY CHARACTER, NOT CONSISTENTLY IN A MAVADO VS BO RAI CHO SITUATION, BUT POSSIBLE. EVEN IN HIGH LEVEL...WE ARE ONLY HUMAN FOR CHRIST'S SAKE.

MKL is right, and ive been seeing people escape it more and more.
not out of the d+4 sweep in hapkido, or the b+1 in pi...
but out of hapkido f+3,b+3. and some other ones that have been called gauranteed.
this is the first time this came up on this thread right? first i've heard it said anyway.

if you want to talk tekken go to the zai and do it there.

The shove, hellfire can be escaped? Strange, I've never saw anyone do this, maybe the timing has to be right...I also have a PAL version btw. What do u think of this konqrr?
'Son i've made a living, out of reading people's faces...

i'd give anything to be there.
i wouldn't even care if i was absolutly wrong about most everything i said and it was like;
flawless i lose,
flawless i lose...
thanks for coming out, have a nice trip home...
it would be worth coming back here to eat crow, because the positive growth in my (and everyone i play) skill afterward would be exponential. because if i don't know what high level gameplay is, then i can't even imagine the great kombat to be seen there.
or mabey i could hang after all and earn some respect, whatever... all i really care about is getting better.
by the way, i don't even know... is ther a prize or just a title(prize enough i suppose)?
anyway, for Khrist's sake, someone go, and bring a camcorder.
timco Wrote: I don't know if it belongs here but are MK5.org going to make movies at TiT5? I'd love to see some of that so much talked about 'high level' play... Any other sites doing a TiT special (MK:DA related so not the zai etc.)or something like that? |

timco Wrote: What do u think of this konqrr? |
Shove -> Hellfire can be escaped by a well timed jump or sidestep. It's not easy if you don't know how to do it right, but my brother does it all the time...nobody uses it on me so I'm not sure of the timing...no comp

jumping out is not the correct way to escape. and u can NEVER ss the hellfire after a shove.
