Summon Hellfire is like any other stun in the game, all it does it set up your high/low game. Your opponent can block anything you throw out while they are being burned. The computer will never block it so it seems like a guaranteed combo.

Versatile...I agree with you that wall combos are hard and risky and not worth it most of the time, but I'm looking for the highest damage combos for each character without opponent being in weapon stance...we'll discuss later the non-wall combos and "tournament" combos, which are ones you'd use for sheer damage that are easy to do...like Cage's Karate f+2, 2,3,4 is extremely easy and does 26% with no skill involved...a great tournament combo although the initial launcher takes forever to execute when you are trying to retaliate after a blocked sweep or whatever. Jeet Kune Do b+1 is much faster but weak.

for me, the computer ALWAYS blocks follow-up retaliatory strikes immediately after a 'burn'...
maybe it's auto-compensating for my high skill level or something? tongue

konqrr: the wall combos are uber-cool, but these stand a strong possibility of never seeing the light of day at a tourney...let's try to focus on stuff that has a higher probability of connecting in actual gameplay. (like bo rai's infinite! he he grin)
peace out bros!

Thanks for clearing that up for me - I haven't had an actual human to test it on. However, I would like to know what other stuns will actually count when done in combos besides the Summon Hellfire, b/c that's the only one I've seen work so far. This is a good test to count the number of frames per animation.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1)there are no 'simple-stun' follow-ups that will 'count' against a human who can block, because said follow-ups aren't guaranteed. like kelly-kell said, simple stuns only give you the initiative for your high/low mix-up.
2)however, immobilization/incapacitation-type moves such as: sonya's kiss, subzero's freeze/shaker, kitana's fan lift, scorpy's spear ETC..offer guaranteed follow-ups on hit and i guess you could refer to these as 'stuns' of a sort...but everyone knows this already tongue...
peace out bros.
I totally agree that we shouldn't focus on difficult and unlikely to be used combos...but those are the most damaging and I want to know what they are grin
In the meantime...I made some Kano combo vids today, go check 'em out!
While playing Kano, I found that if you connect with d+3 you can quickly switch to Aikido and mix up d+4 and throws. The only problem is that you have to be really close for d+3 to connect.
And his Eye Laser special is absolutely useless...
I like the laser, it's insulting. Especially if you hit the guy like three time in a row...
Okay if this has been posted Already I'm sorry but here's something I wanna share with you all. I don't know how helpful this may be so just take it for what it's worth.
You may have seen my post on either SRK or TZ on this matter, but I think it fell on deaf ears because people were more concerned about the secrets than they were about the gameplay at the time. But this discovery makes poking possible in this game and makes it more competitive.
This tactic is what I like to call a " backdash Cancel"
A backdash cancel is executed by quickly tapping b,b when the move/string is about to end. Now, alot of you know that MK5 has certain characters and moves that have slow recovery time. however what the backdash cancel ( BDC ) does it shortens the recover time of the move and you backdash out of harms way. For example, in kano's Xing Yi fighting style if you do 1,1 by itself the recovery time is not so good. However, if you do a BDC (which is 1,1 and right when the second punch cames out tap b,b) the 1,1 move has NO recovery time. Scorpion wasn't a broken character, he is now cause in the Pi Gua stance he can BDC out of almost ALL his moves. However the best character that can take advantage of this is Shang Tsung, especially in Crane 3,3,2 BDC mixups. with this he can be one annoying character.
another thing you can do instead of the BDC is the Jump Kick cancel. Same thing like the bdc except og uf twice and try to kick as soon as you jump. That way anyway that tries to punish you for the BDC ( i.e. kenshi's telethrow, kitana's fan lift) the jump kick will smack em in the mouth. that should make em think twice about trying to punish you, so it can create alot of mind games. I wish I can tell you if this is effective or not, but unfortunately i have no one to play here in Tampa. I hope my little tips helps
I figured it out on day 1...it's not like I found it out and let the world know, only that I discovered it on my own and came up with the abbreviation BDC on my own as well. No big deal as you and many others probably did the same.
Anyways...welcome to MK5.org, hope you like your stay. Check out my combo movies (link in sig).
Just a small note, when doing some of JC's combos sometimes it's better to end the combo in a shadow kick cuz you'll get the wall hit which add's more damage than other moves. Arena specific when your opponent is with his back towards the budhas...
ya, and whats up with that place?
no offence, cause mabey it was more impressive than it looks in those pics, but it looks like an indoor flea market.
those T.V.s are tiny, i thought everything was BIG in texas? we were supposed to go all the way to dallas for that? i was picturing like that Fred Savage-Nintendo movie (can't remember if i ever knew the title to that one)
christ, with the tournament looking like that, we could have had this thing up here in Hope Valley, a few miles from me... (if you don't know R.I. and have never been to Hope Valley, the rednecks there like incest, cannibalism, and burrying bodies under their house to simmer for a decade before blabing to the police during a D.U.I. stop... Don't ask how i know these things, i'd sleep better if i didn't)
anyway this pretty OT, since i have nothing usefull to add.
just wanted to congratulate MKL.
Grats man, i still wish i could have been there.
There were several tournaments going on at once and in order to accomodate that many people it had to be that way.
TTT, T4, Guilty Gear XX, VF: Evo, MK: DA
I mean...come on.
amen. d+3 is one of my best moves, though i don't really like shotokan, in favor of dragon and kori blade style. d+3, switch to kori, pretty good.
dammit, subzero's cool!
nice video from TiT Konqrr.
ok, i will say it looks much better there from that clip, didnt know there were that manny TVs.
very smooth playing by MKL, poor shang looked like he was a bit frozen with feargrin
how early or late in the tourny was that match?
no offence to either fighter, but that was pretty one sided...
looks like drahmin was human and shang was computer AI set easy (tell me he dosn'tgrin)
actually, i think i've fought a human drahmin like twice, so MKL would have made me look like his sad pathetic bitch right there most likly.
by the way, just curious,
MKL, was that local for you? or did you have to travel far to get there?
Grrr, i wan't another one, but with like 200 ppl... near me... like NOW.
i guess thats not gonna happensad
ok watched the fight a few more times, MKL i do love your mind set.
relentless on shang...
just dosn't give him a second. i love it, i love offence.
kept circling him...
the round never reached any corner combos, it was all simple stuff, 3 and 4 hit combos.
low hits kept opening shang up for more of the same... not much abuse of a single tap move, untill it was all over.
nothing in game that led to a solid pattern, just solid knowldge of drahmin's iron club stance i think.
EDIT_______________________________________
i take that back, the soild pattern is that everytime shang is out of reach, Drahmin does the ground pound... a jump kick would be the only way to stop it, and if you guess wrong, im guessing you will be punnished if the ground pound was'nt comming after all...
ahh, but thats what makes the game fun.
___________________________________________
very good stuff, i hate that i don't know drahmin tho.
i need to see what you do with scopion and kung laogrin
question, could shang have rolled on the ground after drahmin bounced him up in the air?
i'm assuming no, or else shame on him.
