I think the best renders are Sub Zero, Catwoman, and Kitana. I really enjoy the small details of Sub Zero's new costume and the background. Catwoman's outfit is textured really well. Kitana's render is very soft and the background is really pretty. Plus the floral design on her outfit is a nice touch. I suppose the Green Lantern render isn't bad either. I don't have much critique for it.

The worst renders are Sonya, Wonder Woman, Jax, and Liu Kang. Sonya doesn't even look female. Wonder Woman's skin is blotchy. Jax doesn't even look like Jax. If it wasn't for the metal arms I wouldn't even know it was him. Liu Kang's skin also looks really bad. The belt and the rope details are pretty bad too. I would say Superman as well, but I can't blame the MK team for that one. Superman's costume is fairly boring and there isn't much that can really be done with it to make it stand out. The background of Superman's render saves it from being on the worst list for me.

Worst: Jax

You know, I don't really mind the Jax render. When you think about it, his look has changed a lot over the years anyway. The face of the character in MK4 looked nothing like the face of whoever the actor was who was digitized for the Jax character in 2 and 3, and he wasn't as ripped either. Then we all saw what we ended up with in DA and Armageddon. I don't have strong feelings for the Jax render (or even the character), but I think it's 100x better than the thugged-out bling-covered gangsta from the last couple games.

My personal favorite is Raiden's render, but that's really because I'm a major fan of his. I thought Sub-Zero's was good, and Scorpion's was okay...Sonya I kinda thought looked alright, but upon a second review of her render, I feel inclined to agree with Pink_Ranger. Her body looks good...but the face...something about it...

Same goes for Liu Kang. I really wasn't digging his face. For a guy who was based off of Bruce Lee, you'd expect him to look a little more like Lee, but facially he doesn't. I would know because I'm a major Bruce Lee fan as well. I also preferred Kang with shorter hair myself, sorta like what he had in the first two games and Deception (his zombified form was what actually reignited my interest in him to begin with...). When MK 3 rolled around, I really wasn't digging his hairstyle...

Superman...well, there's only so much you can do with him in terms of appearance. Jax does NOT look like himself...Kano actually came out okay, kinda like a throwback to Trevor Goddard's portrayal of him in the first MK movie (I mention this in the Kano render discussion thread). Still, not too excited he made the cut, or Jax, but I can't really complain about that now. They're in...now I'm praying for some DLC...and Kung Lao.

I won't overly criticize DC too much; I'll save that for other people who are more familiar with them than myself. I just wanted to get my opinions on the MK characters out there because they're what I know best.

Now to go take some shots from the Six Demon Bag...

Best: Jax, Joker

Fires on all cylinders. Minuscule infractions on technique at best.

Middle//Upper Middle: Shang Tsung, Liu Kang, Raiden, DeathStroke, Kano, Catwoman, and probably Kitana.

Too much of this effect, not enough that effect....um cutout issues, okay pose, ect Overall minor stuff wrong.

Less than Middle, but not the worse: Wonder Woman, The Flash, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Green Lantern, Batman.

Too much of this effect, not enough that effect....um cutout issues, maybe had a bad pose, ect Old technique is apparent, but not necessarily bad.

Worst: Superman, Shazzam, Sonya.

Old technique, bad texturing, bad design (I know, "it's Superman//Shazzam", but still), pose didn't benefit the character like it should have //bad pose. Any critical mistakes like Sonyas face, her really short top, and overall upper bodies build.

All of the MKvsDC renders however, are a couple steps away from "next gen" renders though. They all suffer that way.

If you zoom in on any of these you see some flaws.

Like Kitana is friggin cross eyed.

And she's got a huge package.

Kitana - love the background, she actually looks good (minus the bulge, why is it the MK chicks seem like trannies?)

Scorpion -detail, outfit, appearance, pose, all fit well.

Shang Tsung - Pure awesome

Wonder Woman - God awful, didn't like the look of it at all, face loks terrible, the skin is like, 5 different shades

Shazam - just plain BORING background is unattractive and the post is just strange.

Best: Sub-Zero, Raiden, and Scorpion. I love the updates to Sub-Zero and Scorpion's costumes and it's nice to see GOOD Raiden back. I didn't like the direction he was going in with "Dark" Raiden.

Worst: I hate to say it as she's my favorite character, but Sonya. She just doesnt look right. She looks too manly. My favorite Sonya is MK3 era Sonya and this is a far cry from that. Hell, I wouldn't even care if she looked similiar to the DA era Sonya.

Best: Sub-Zero, Kitana, Kano

Worst: The rest.

Best Render: Wonder Woman , Catwoman, Green Lantern and Kano.
Worst Render: Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Deathstroke and Sonya.

Best: Catwoman...without a doubt. Maybe it's the placement of the zipper. It's also my favorite likeness of her.

Worst: Sonja...she's always looked really hot. She's too military. I don't care much for the outfit or the look on her face. I prefer her original likeness.
JAX is next in line for the worst. He looks way too basic. I liked him better in MKDA. Sunglasses, hat, and metal arms.
