I realy hope that they release a demo for this game instead of giving us promises in trailers and not keeping them with previous games. Alot of games are getting demos like the new DBZ game which is pretty cool and the fans are happy too. The only reason I think they wouldnt release a demo is that they are afraid people wont like it and it would effect sales the easy way out is to make theses trailers that promise us things that sound so cool in trailers and hyping the game up to be something new like with all the different fighting modes and with armagedon boon was like we have all the charaters they all have stories and we are gonna get the truth about the MK story and we all know whay happened.

If boon is so excited I see no reason not to release a demo at least a demo with both sub -zero and the JOKER lolol hopefully, but more relastically batman.thoughts???

Yep, you said it.

If they're confident enough, a demo is inevitable. It's the next gen way.

But, considering the negative buzz they've generated thus far, at this moment, I couldn't see them releasing one any time soon.

Personally, I'd love to get it over with. Since gameplay seems to be a bigger selling point this time around, I'm interested to see how all the gimmicks play out. Too, a demo may even save me the trouble of renting if it's as bad as it looks.

Genuinely hope I'm wrong though. Wanted to love this game, but I'm nothing short of utterly disappointed at this point....We'll see what happens in the coming months.

I think they'll be too scared to release a demo.
Most fans are bashing this game enough as it is. The technical fan critics are going to rip the gameplay into shreds no matter how good it realy is just becaues its not like Tekken (whaa whaa boo hoo, ya faggots). Or they're going to make fun of the graphics because it's not all fruit-tastic with bright shiny colors like Virtua Fighter (more crying).

They're probably going to make you rent it if you want a test just so they can get SOME $$$ out of your pocket if you're not going to buy it (because rental stores still have to buy the actual game).

if there is a demo, I wouldn't expect it until after E3, since that's when they're shooting to have a playable build.

I'm with everyone else, if they're confident enough about the product, they'll put out a demo. Hell, if I were midway, I'd put it out after E3 to see what the fans say. If they rip the fighting engine, then they'd still have enough time till november to actually work out the kinks or with midway's quality over quantity mandate, delay it until it's great.

Subman799, are you referring to the editing of the playstation version to take out the fatalities? If so, I doubt this is gonna take that much flack, considering the rating they're going for.

The predator if they really have the respect for the fans they would release a demo It will be a risk but if all goes well it might win some of the MK fans back who are not supporting the crossover. The question is that are they willing to take the risk? are they confident enough as you said to release one? I guess will have to wait and see.

I will have the outmost respect for boon if they release a demo because just like you said theirs alot of negative buzz amongst MK fans and by releasing a demo it show that they wold stick by their game no matter what.

Midway used a demo to show-off Stranglehold, although I enjoyed the demo , review sites said the game wasnt so impressive. it's possible that mk vs dc demo will be relased as well. You can already download the trailer on xboxlive, maybe there's more to come...

Even if there was a demo, I highly doubt that it'll do anything. Demos disappoint me, for the fact that back when PS1 came out, they used to come out with a demo disc called Underground, where there would be like 5-6 games on the disc, all demos, and yet when I played the demo, you could barely do anything fun in it.

Why have a demo, when you can actually play the game when it comes out. That's all I'm saying. Demos don't allow that much gameplay to go around, and when you're finally in this gaming groove, the demo had expired. Lame.

Demo are like movie previews. They catch your interest without having to spend much money. It's a fantastic idea.

That's a really old reference though, Ps1? Wow. Most of the XboxLIVE demos I've played have been great for length and all that. You might just need to play more recent ones.

And besides, really the only thing to preview is the fighting portion of this game. I mean, I guess they could let us go run around in the Konquest thing with one or two of the characters until we reach a certain check point...but still, all the ones I've played have been great for letting you actually experience the game. Lara Crofts and Devil May Cry 4's demo let me get away with alot....as did VF5's demo, let me play for longer than I thought it would.

Demos are the way to go if you know you got something great on your hands. Does nothing but bump those sales numbers up. AND there's alot of stuff to buy with Xbox points that precede buying the game. So, if you liked the demo, but don't have the money for the actually game....you may just spend some Xbox points on other stuff first (which is actually even more money in their pocket) and then go get the game (which is money in their pocket)

But yea.

Demos are great not LAME especially on psn which are FREE so you dont have anything to lose well thats if you have a NEXT-gen console, and theirs a big difference between a ps1 and a PS3,lol you cant compare them unless you still have a ps1 lolol.

Lol! "You people" haha..

Anyway, you're right to an extent though. No matter what they put out, MK has competitors. So they will always be sized up to other fighting games. It's a competitive premise to begin with. But there is Nothing wrong with comparing them. Not one bit.

When it becomes so transparent that the motive for making a product is merely to cash in, your product will reflect that motivation. Boon is soliciting the "novelty" of having a MK and DC character on screen at one time, some modes, and some "other stuff".

They never solicit MK's "quality", or any salvageable integrity the franchise actually does have.

They'd rather sell a cluster of "modes".

To that I say: "Let's see all these modes MkTeam....but can you make sure i can turn off all the gimmicks so I can play what I like about MK? Y'know, the actual game?"

========

What's constantly being brought into question is MK's quality. Gameplay, Graphic, Storytelling, Art Direction....ect. But when they don't STEP UP after 15+yrs, you gotta wonder if a demo is even worth the time to play. Let alone develop.

Bottom line is, they need to stop trying so hard to sell the brand to people (a large amount of people already love the brand), and start trying to perfect what makes people like MK. Make the elements of MK the best in the business.

This is next gen gaming. Customers that motivated the business back in the day still are motivating the industry. Thing is, we are alot older now, and with that, alot more perceptive to what's a good buy or not.

=================

Oh, you're wrong about SF and SC being crap though. They seem to perfect more and more with each successive iteration of their games. Look at the jump from PS2 to PS3 already...Compare that (YeS, compare it.) to what we're seeing from MK in the same respect.
