Well, I personally hate the idea of micro transactions, but with the success of its implementation in such games as Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, I wouldn't be surprised if Boon and Co left out a few name characters from both worlds and allowed us to buy them for $5 a pop on XBOX Live or PS3's markepace (whatever the heck it's called).
So... what would the rest of you think of this? If my favorit characters were added later, yay. If not... I'll pass.

$5 for a single character is unacceptable. They should come in packs of 3

Does the PS3 even have a "marketplace" equivalent where you can buy downloadable content?

Yes

Interesting. I did not know that.

I would support the idea of downloadable characters. It's a reasonable way to include more characters...and it's optional if you want to download the characters or not.
Good idea.

nahh
three is odd
packs of 2
1mk 1dc
that would be cool

Yeah, and that'd be cool if you could download some Marvel characters too (Unlikely.) Just throwing it out there...

well.... i think its bullshit if they were to do such a thing.... i mean id rather them delay the game and add those chars or whatever DLC they may be thinking about having..... but yeah.... ah...... sure i guess..... but i dont like the idea of some one having characters i dont and they use them against me online.... that could be some thing that will prevent them of doing such a thing though so we'll see.... at the moment im just not thinking about DLC at all.... never been a game yet that had any DLC that i felt i needed to get.... not even games like Oblivion or Mass Effect cuz there so much else to do without the DLC..... all in all i actually doubt there being downloadable chars, but perhaps costumes or stages.

The MK team is already pretty notorious for 'running out of time' when finishing games. Sure, DLC is potentially a way to rectify that, but I'd much rather see a solid, polished, well completed game.
I really don't think they need the license to relax when a game isn't finished. DLC is fun in theory, but those dark edges are always bothersome, especially with a track record like MK's.
Like Street Fighter, I think they should just focus on putting their best foot forward onto the current generation of consoles. No shortcuts.

I totally agree but I see nothing wrong with continuing to develop content post-release. With so many characters to choose from on both sides, it's doubtful that they will be able to please everyone with the initial roster.

It's a slippery slope.

Why in the hell do you want to spend MORE money?

That's what I was thinking. Why do I have to pay 5 bucks for a character when they could just put him in the game in the first place.

I think it's a great idea! For both MKVSDC and Street Fighter IV. I'm an avid Rockband player and I love getting new content, it adds so much more replay value to the game. And I like the two character idea, 1 MK 1 DC. If you don't want to pay for more then don't. It helps appease a lot more fans if their favorite fighter doesn't make the cut. I don't think I'd buy the game if it doesn't have Shang Tsung, but if they release a date when I can get him online? Sold.

not just for one character.
For example,
one MK character,
one DC character
One stage
bug fixes
More custom character builds.
For example, Having a lightsaber wielding Batman with TK, or Joke that can freeze and spear you.
Similar what we have in MKA in kreate a fighter but without the bugs and more indepth

there'd have to be like two or four characters a pack, and maybe a level or two

IF, it's a great game, it's worth it. It's also a prestige and bandwagon issue. "You don't wanna miss out on this."
I bought UMK3 from off XBoxLIVEs marketplace. Even though I have MK1-trilogy that I used to play on my ps2.
A better example is Call of Duty 4 where, within I believe it was...2days? More than a million people downloaded the new expansion pack. Which, the main attraction was new maps to fight in. Great game so, 800 xbox points=approximately 10$ for new experiences, is a good idea.
Makes the fun of the game last longer for the players, and the developers get paid more too. The next game should be bigger and better as a result and makes it a good idea for investors to throw money at too. Win - Win - Win all the way through.

I'd be for this idea. But only if this game is fantastic. Midway and the MKTeam have a few things to prove to me with this one.
