After seeing Mortal Kombat Armageddon and how rushed it was, I would not care if it took them another year as long as its finished.

Don't get me wrong, I thought MKA was decent, I liked playing someone online having a fun time with people at my level, but the whole game itself... wasn't complete and felt rushed all together, hopefully they weill have plenty of time with MK8 and let it be worth it.

How long have they been working on MK8 and how long have they been working on MKA?

If they actually said they were holding back the game I think I would be happy. Because the last 4 (which the last three still rocked) were incredible rushed.

Its the fans, thats the reson why the last few games, escpecially deception and armageddon, have been crap. I wouldn't mind if they set it for a 2009 release date, take yall time! Do it right! But you're always gonna have the noobs screaming "OMGZZZZZ HRRY UPZZZ!!!"

Yea, sorta me too. Except for, I'd continue to be preoccupied until the game called for my attention.

That's essentially wrong. Fans largely have nothing to do with when a game is released. BUT, the release does have a lot to do with when "people" feel like buying a game. Although that is simply a sub-effect of "when" to sell a game. It's partially why releasing a game "around Christmas" is a good idea.

How would I react? I'd probably be ecstatic actually. I've had a similar reaction in the past when games I don't even care about are delayed. I tend to look for "why", and then try to understand the effort that goes into "trying to get it right".

Yea, I'd be disappointed that the game didn't come out when they said it would, but I'd happy that they need the time to make the game better. I think that aspect humanizes the company as a working force too. Instead of just being this big mysterious output faction that releases gaming titles.

Afterall, I would rather have the "best game of the year" released late, than have a broken game that I wish I could forget, released on time. I'd take the trade any day.

Hell, I'm currently waiting to get my Xbox360 Elite(the most expensive version with the biggest hard drive), even though I have had more than a few good chances at getting a regular "Core" Xbox360. I want the best possible item from that product line, and if I can't have it right when I want it, but it's still not out of my reach......I'll just wait, and get what I really want later.

Same principal applies to Mk games.

That would be the best news possible. It means they are actually serious about not rushing this one, and thus want to release a finished and desirable product.

Also the fans are NOT responsible for the rushing of the games. That blame is squarely on Midway for rushing the creators to release games by a particular deadline (Christmas/Easter, etc.).

And why do midway rush the mk team? Because of fans. Ok, they may not be the number one reason, but admit it, us fans is a large part of why they rush the games.

I beg to differ with you, ProfesserAhnka, MK Deception is the best Mortal Kombat game they evey released. But I agree with you about MKA.smile
I say let them take their time if then need it, but Midway needs the cash from MK, so it can't be delayed for too long.

That is a joke right? MKD was rushed and crappy. MKDA, now THATS a MK game. If only they took a few more months, MKDA wouldve been perfect. But its good enough!

That doesn't make good business sense. The only time fans affect when a game is released is when we have already been told the specific date to expect the game. When people have high expectations for the game, and when they(Midway) have put in motion such things as release parties, tours, and of course allowing fans to pre-order.

THEN, I could see an adverse affect if the game was delayed, because disappointment is a real possibility, and a significant decline in sales would be the end result. That being because word of mouth can be nullified, from a cause of confusion surrounding the release date.

Midway doesn't rush a game "because of fans", they rush a game to continue receiving strong profits. So they can "relieve" investors for other projects that have been released. So they can pay peoples salaries...."pay bills"(so to speak).

Like, say Stranglehold, or Blitz (two other large name Midway games) did terribly...

The investors for those games still need to see a return on their investments (have to be paid back for spending money on advertsing, manufacturing, and other things)...and the people who worked on those games still have to be paid....

Now, if Mortal Kombat is the next big game that's being worked on, Midway might push for that "cash cow" to be released. Because Mk has a record with Midway for having big sales(big paydays). Which, would sort of compensate for the failure of another big investment title such as Blitz or Stranglehold....

This is all hypothetic btw, I don't know those games' track record. But just know it's all tangled in contracts. So, if you don't have at lease a vague understanding of how contracts work, and you say "Midway rushes a game because of Fans", you are pretty much being unreasonable.

It would be nice if MK8 got delayed and it'd be even more brilliant if they said it was due to more time needed to fix up gameplay and things like that but I don't ever see that happening. To be honest, given MKD and MKA, whatever they do, I probably wouldn't care less.

Now to me, thats a fan boy. I would not buy anymore rushed mk games, I find it disrespectful for them to think i'll be dumb enough to waste mny money on a game they didn't even put effort in to make.

i'd would be happy, this means that the game is going to be good.
at least they have to give us some vids or pics of the game.
i'll wait until january to see what happens.
if the changes they make will be dissapointening for me,i'll leave mk,and armageddon will be my last mk game.
