Midway Announces Four New Characters from MK vs DCU!

As the Leipzig Games Convention gets underway, Midway has gotten things started with a bang by issuing a press release announcing four new characters from the upcoming Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe! On the MK side, the thunder god Raiden and the Black Dragon Kano will be joining the fray! On the DC Universe side, the Amazon Wonder Woman and assassin/mercenary Deathstroke (better known to Teen Titans viewers by his real name, Slade) will be taking part.

In addition, Midway has released three renders of Wonder Woman. Two are the standard black and white background images. The third image shows Wonder Woman at what appears to be her homeland of Themyscria. A high-resolution image has not been released yet; as soon as it is, we'll post it here.

EDIT: The high res render was released soon after.

Finally, Midway has released a 30 second high-definition trailer from Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe.

EDIT - 3:45 PM CDT - GameSpot has posted a video of Ed Boon announcing the new characters, complete with renders. Deathstroke looks much like his comic version from what little can be seen. Raiden's outfit is very much like a cross between his MKDA and MKII outfits. Kano, on the other hand, looks more like a cross between his MK1 and MK3 outfit (with the MKDA color scheme), and has a full beard now. Our thanks to forum member for the info on this new video!

Good to know that Raiden and Kano are in.

I don't like Wonderwoman's hair... but the render is pretty cool.

Maybe it's just me but it looks to me that they put much more effort and work on DC characters than on their own MK characters. Maybe they want to please DC execs and fans and want them to be happy with their work...

bullshit! i can't believe that Kano made the list. Why is Ed Boon choosing the worst characters for this game. Kano and Jax? Raiden was obvious and so was Wonder Woman. Then again, i don't give a crap about the DC side. They have one last character to announce. PLEASE ED BOON, PLEASE GIVE ME MILEENA!!!!!

Mileena isn't nearly as iconic as Kano or Raiden.

In fact, with Kitana in there she is completely unneeded.

Wonder Woman's render is...bothersome. Her skin actually looks blotchy. Like she's got a bunch of age spots.

i disagree, Kano is a stupid character. Their are many other characters that are more iconic.

Mileena is very iconic. Mileena is just as important as Kitana. Ed Boon said it himself that Mileena and Kitana are the female equilivants of Sub-Zero adn Scorpion. You have to have both.

@ immortaldestiny09: You have no idea how much I agree with you. Yes Raiden and Wonder Woman were obvious from the beginning, but not to have Mileena in this is 100% blasphemy I tell ya. I can't believe there are only going to be two playable females from either side. The male/female ratio is way off balance. DC side needs one more female, either Zatanna or Poison Ivy. And the MK side needs Mileena!

I believe it was MK3 that didn't have Scorpion although and had Sub Zero even when Scorpion is iconic. And that was Mortal Kombat plain, not a vs. game. So, it doesn't matter if Kitana's in, she's more iconic than Mileena and she doesn't need to be in the game.

Yes, i completely agree. I want Mileena in this game. For some reason, people tell me it's strange for a straight guy to like a female fighter so much but the thing is that i don't care how many females are in this game. I didnt care if it was only one. I just wanted it to be Mileena. She's been my favorite character since MK2 and the fact that Ed boon chose Kano over her is simply ridiculous and unreasonable.

But there is still one MK character to be announced and if its not her then hopefully their will be downloable characters from the internet.

Frankly, I think Kano shouldn't be in. Or Jax. Granted, I like Kano a bit, but first we have Sonya's Sidekick, now her nemesis? I feel that we don't really need both; and would be better served with a different character (Reptile or Mileena).

Deathstroke's good. I guess he'd show up, and I could kinda see him fitting in. A much better cycloptic villain addition to the roster than Kano.

As said before, Wonder Woman and Raiden were a given. I'm content with having them both appear.

Finally watched the 30 sec trailer. It was ok, glad they amped up the music to an epic level, which made the in game footage seem that much better. I just hope they keep that epic orchestra sound for the actual game as well. Fights tend not to feel as grand as they are suppose to when you're listening to a synthesized track with odd bass lines and drums.

I knew somehow that Kano would make the list. Sonya and Jax being there. The need of a black Dragon member was obvious and the best member is Kano.

WW render is great imo.

I am a little pissed that there is no Johnny Cage... but DEATHSTROKE!
If they are going to announce one more character per side, it better be Cage and Lobo.
