Earlier today, Midway released another trailer for Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe! This trailer shows the one part of the game shrouded most in mystery thus far: the story mode. The video acts almost like a movie trailer, consisting entirely of cut scenes; in the video, characters from both universes discuss the events happening from their own perspectives; in addition, characters such as Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, Raiden, the Joker, Liu Kang, and Kitana. The trailer ends with all kombatants (save Shao Kahn and Darkseid) facing each other, with Raiden declaring to the DC Universe characters, "We have come to challenge you in Mortal Kombat!"

For a dark man shall enter the House of God...

Kahn and Darkseid have to be in that angry mob somewhere! I tried looking around like I did with MKA (just to look to see if all the characters were part of the mob) but it's odd that they didn't include Kahn or Darkseid to the mix. You would think that maybe instead of Raiden and Superman leading the team, it would be the big bad bosses. Then again, that might contradict the whole merging together to defeat everyone and everything idea.
Come on, you know how these cross over things go. The two sides fight, then they unite for a common goal, and beat the shit out of the main bad guys.
Exactly what happened in Smash Bros.

True but not if somebody on each others side gets killed and besides I dont think everybody will fight Dark-Khan unless you choose a person and beat him with that person and it makes out like everybody fights him.

Subman brings up a good point though. I haven't played the latest Smash Bros game, but that story concept is a common one that has been used quite often, so I can understand it. That's probably where the whole Dark Kahn idea will come into place while so strong the DC and MK will unite to defeat it. Makes sense...

WAT DA FUCK!
Vomit, you haven't played the latest Smash Bros. game! AHHHH!!!
*eats a kitten*
But yeah, Dark-Khan will probably be all powerful, and fight the whole cast in some crazy showdown. I hope that's not the case, but eh, it's gonna happen.
Wouldn't The Joker just stand by and let everything happen and laugh his @$$ off and not join forces with Batman?

Nintendo is comprised of three Japanese words. Nin, Ten, Dou, and when combined it means we kicked the holy shit outta Atari.
Question:

Yes. He'd revel in the chaos of it all and wouldn't even think of trying to "fix" the problems. Hence he is acting extremely out of character in this game which bugs the hell out of me.

I'm positive the DC folks working with Midway are making sure The Joker is being represented correctly. I doubt any of the DC characters will be out of character.

He's alongside Superman and friends during their bum rush of Raiden and pals. That alone says he's out of character.

Pro:
: Well.....I love the voice acting and the music. The folks associated with those things deserve a crapload of props because they've done a really good job from the actual sound of things.
I think it may be more, that they picked the right voices for the characters. Which is great. But the downside is that things still sound scripted.
Con:
:Still sounds scripted. The difference between actually saying "Isn't" & "Is Not". Inflection is important too.
::"DC Universe with MK characters in it" should be the title of this game. Music helps drive this perspective home. Even though it's excellent music.
:::Facial Animations are convincing, but not quite good enough. More "Heavenly Sword" please.
::::Graphics aren't good enough for how good this needs to be. Maybe this is just the tone that is set in the vid. I'm not excited.
:::::"Assigned Characters" in the mode. That's a huge No-No, MkTeam.
--Other--
- There are some scenes in there that are too reminiscent of past MK games. "Everyone again running towards something like mindless tools. -- "Raiden again gathers everyone up to go fight."
Doesn't do much for changing things dramatically.
- There are some scenes that actually do the "novelty" some justice though. Like mostly Batman vs Sub-Zero. Raiden vs Superman doesn't do it though.
- Overall I'm still supremely underwhelmed.

We discussed this in chat, TTT, but I'd like to repeat here for benefit of the forum readers...
This actually is in character for the Joker, for one simple reason: he'd be the first one cheering and egging on the end of the universe... if he was actually involved in it. He's NOT involved, though, and he HATES not being in the limelight. So, he's fighting alongside the other DC characters due to pure ego. He's not part of the problem, so damnit he's going to be part of the solution. Either way, he's involved and has an audience.
It's the same reason he murdered Alexander Luthor (NOT Lex Luthor) at the end of Infinite Crisis; Alex wouldn't allow Joker to take part of the event, so Joker killed him out of spite.
... besides which, now he has new people to play with, some of whom have tinier sense of humor than Batman.

There's another school of thought that says the Joker wouldn't lift a hand to help, instead opting to enjoy the show.
Then there's another school of thought that says the Joker is pretty happy with staying alive and that might be the right circumstances to persuade him to team up with the good guys.
There are other theories, like the thought that he'd be too scared to help, or... actually, that reminds me of a joke... he might wear zoot pants.
I guess it depends... Is this all pre-Crisis or is it a Thursday?
See? It all makes perfect sense!
The Joker does what he wants to do for whatever reason he wants. Trying to psychoanalyze him is the fastest way to go psycho.

To Live in silence is to live in fear
It's just too bad that we know how much the game isn't gonna live up to any MK expectations.
This may be the first MK game I do not get. It kills me to say it but it's true. Maybe if it gets to a reduced price or i have a gift card then yes, but as of now im not thinking about hoping on the bandwagon.

Absolutely loving this having played it at an EB Vendors show also helps.
I don't care about toned down fatalitys either.
