Tanya is more of hardcore bitch than Mileena. Tanya will make you trust and love her and then screw you over like no other. I love how she is the most deceitful conniving female in MK. Plus she has the best moves in MK. The cannon drill, the flip kick, invisibility, her weapons in MKA. I am unstoppable with her in MKD and MKA.

MK9 will probably be called MK Old School and be a re-make of the 2nd MK with "new" graphics. Ed does love starting fresh like he says..........

I just have a feeling there will be lame fighting styles and the fighting system will probably be the same lame way it was from Armageddon. This game has potential but it is gonna flop IMO. Ed Boon just seems like an idiot to me lately.

Sounds like a decent amount of characters. as long there are a few of my faves (e.g jade, kitana) I'll be sorted.

I think 20 is the current number they have right now, I bet six or four more characters might join some time later as to where it's like this:

DEFAULT: 10 (5 MK, 5 DC)
UNLOCKABLE10 (5 MK, 5 DC)
SECRET UNLOCKABLES 4 (2 MK, 2 DC)

I hope and think that this is not MK8. Once Boon sees the negative feedback and reviews to this game, most specifically to the story aspect, he'll say this game is just a spin-off/noncanon/what if game. A game for shits basically.

This is the only way to save MK's story. Even if he wants to go on from MKA continuing the story for that and skipping this, it wouldn't logically make sense to consider this game MK8.

Kinda like MK3 to UMK3 to MKT. The last two are still a part of the first and the story remains the same. This game will follow that "extra" game although it won't and shouldn't affect the true MK8 we will probably get in two years.

So I'm thinkin that either Boon really did plan to do this, or they just couldn't come up with a story following MKA so they went with the crossover, buying them more time to develop the canon story.

On point however, 20 characters total does suck, especially since half will be about characters we ultimately do not care about. Hopefully he'll up that or hopefully the MK half will be very bad ass.

I don't like think on so many levels:

-We were told MK8 would be all-new, a clean slate. Does "no new characters" sound all-new? So all that talk about MK8 starting off fresh and being wiped clean was bullshit. Big surprise when Ed Boon is involved, right folks?

-This apparently won't be an official MK game as we all that. I mean, what, is DC part of the MK Universe now? I don't believe this is a real MK8 for that reason, this is more like a spin-off.

-And personally, I don't really like any females from DC that much so that side of the roster is gonna bore me for sure. That's mighty discouraging.

Like many here, I'm disappointed. I was hoping for a real MK8 not some Icons vs. Icons thing. If they were icons I liked, I'd feel differently, but DC mostly bores me, and as for the MK icons, well it depends on which they choose and how they make them look and feel in the game with the gameplay and special moves.

The one key thing though that I liked that Boon said when asked about the storyline is that "it's yet to be decided IF this will be a canon storyline or not" he said once MK9 comes out they'll decide that if the events of MK8(MK vs. DC) should be interesting and well received by the fans.

We don't know the storyline yet so I don't think anyone should be jumping the gun here....DC inspired Marvel with great stories, characters the Justive League etc with Stan Lee making X-men and Spider-man so I really think this idea is interesting and fresh, something new.




No worries man, not sure if you heard by now or not but there will be no weapons, no multiple fighting styles. Did you see the new teaser vid? That's nothing like MKA....and I'm speaking from experience here being a huge online player, the gameplay is way different. This new game has grapples, more counters I bet and throws along with the punching and kicking up close. I don't see dial up combos and there's no fighting "styles" which I'm happy they got rid of.

My Knowledge on DC Characters isnt great so throwing in all these Obscure Carachters that only die hard fans would know would be pointless to me.

Likewise for the MK side, a DC fan whos not really an MK Fan is more likely to notice Sub Zero and Scorpion than they are Hsu Hao and Mavado etc.

I too would have rather just an MK Game, But it's not worth starting a full scale riot over.

I've come to accept this, after being shocked and of course disapointed yet still slightly excited. I really am looking forward to it.

20 characters sounds pretty good to me, I was expecting around 24, maybe the roster number will change later, but it's still good I won't complain. As long as Subzero and Scorpion are in, I am happy. Just bring back Kung Lao and Liu Kang.

Anyway, Boon didn't say it was specifically 20, just around that number. He said specifically "20-22" in the Gametrailers interview.
