EDIT: Just watched the vid. Hec seems like a cool guy, a good speaker for the game. Not really much new info, but it's not to be expected at this point. I do like his taste in characters, though, lol. Sonya's more popular at the MK HQ. than I anticipated! Being popular with the creators can only help her as an MK character, arguably even a tiny bit more than her already big fan base among the players.

Jax is MK's token. I don't really want him in the game, he doesn't have a lot going for him. I don't think we need him if we're talking iconic characters. Kabal had potential, but now that we have Flash using up all his moves, there's no point in adding him. With a simple roster of only 10 from each side, I'd be upset if two characters had very similar styles and moves (exception of the generic punch combos) such as Kabal and Flash's speeds. Hell, I'd take in Kabal if they completely revamped his moves, and gave him a whole new set.

Jax is MK's token? At first I wasn't sure what you meant but lol. Jax is so boring, I'd much rather have Ermac, Smoke or Fujin someone like that over Jax any day.


I think any game Kabal is in he'll have the spin by move, as he should and some kind of projectile. As for newer moves, they did give that new TK slam move in the 3D games in replacement of that ground saw back in MK3.

I'd rather not. If there is too much time between games then it wont matter how much I read will it? I don't know about you but sitting around for a year or two waiting on a real MK after we get an MK vs DC sounds rather boring to me. Then again you like DC so for you it might be party time. For me though, well that's when I've finally had enough of Boon's bullshit.

Ohh I agree...of course at this stage, such statements should be taken with a grain of salt but he pretty much hinted at "future MK/DC games" even though they'll of course be separate. But it's like you said, some of which like say Cap Marvel were said NOT to be in yet Cap Marvel is indeed in the game.

Ditto! I think the inclusion of Captain Marvel really highlights the fact that this couldn't be farther from a battle about common ground, but more about indulging the juxtaposition of the two brands. Which, personally, I think the game will be better for!

I was pretty sure she was the main female fan fav. Either her, or Mileena. Just because of the "surprise" under her mask. Well, that, and the fact that she stands out now because she's the "sexy" female on the roster. Those things make Mileena more "popular" than Kitana.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I recognize that Kitana has a following. But as much as I've seen, it's not as big a following as Sonya, or Mileena,....or as matter of fact, maybe even Sindel. She probably compares to Sindel or Jade in her following fanbase.

Flash is like the owner for Kabals moves, so of course Kabal's not in. I don't see how there's confusion about that.

And they gotta figure out how to make a decent black guy character (like Kai) and actually do something with him first before I'd like to see Jax again. Jax was alright in the earlier games, but just barley iMo. He was way too stereotypical back then even. MKDA-A he was a waste he was so sterotypical. Nobody from my hood liked anything about him except for his "Terminator" Fatality. That stomp thing he had was so lame it was crazy.

With that said, the DC characters with those powers are "bigger" than the MK characters with those same powers. So, if anything, it can be looked at like they stole their moves, and are now correctly placed back where they needed to be in the first place. But that's too vague I guess.

It wouldn't even be appropriate for Jax and Kabal to be in, knowing that Superman and Flash are in. They're no where near as iconic (or as good a characters as Flash or Superman as a matter of fact), and they're stale characters at this point. So I'm pretty satisfied that they're not in, even though I'm not looking forward to this game.

Doesn't make sense to have them in there along with the DC characters with the same powers anyway.

Hm, I'll agree with you on that one... I tend to respond with the same amount of negativity that I was given, and may have exagerated on that one. It's just that I absolutely knew that someone, probably one of the hardcore Kitana fans, was going to go down that very, very annoying route sooner or later, as usual.

I know it might sound "catty" (hehe) coming from a strong character fan like me, but that's actually exactly how I see the "mighty female trio" of MK, and the #1 reason why I jump the gun whenever there is injustice (I'm like a less-important Superman... with cooler clothes). One of the big things that draw me to like a character in any type of story is that character's popularity with others who also are "part" of that story. In my very early days of playing MK, Sonya was practically always the best-liked female in the games around the arcades, etc., which may even be an influence to me liking her now.

I do see her as the main female fave, having a huge fan base, being that those who love her far outnumber those who don't, being that she's continuously the most marketed, most-used to represent MK (such as the new game and most past). Of course I also do recognize that Kitana and Mileena have an excellent fan base (I'd deserve being called the most bitter m-effer in the world if I didn't realize that), but with all honesty, it's like you said, it isn't AS big as Sonya's. The reason why is debatable.

Anyway, I can talk and talk and talk, but Pred really summed up how things are in much fewer words... I shouldn't have written so much -_-' ... Everyone just ignore what I said and pay attention to Pred... better yet...

People used to constantly count Kabal in using Flash's presence as evidence (I think they still do), which is ridiculous, IMO, as I see things as the complete opposite. In the end, it's just people taking the "MK chars. match up with some of the DC chars." theory too seriously.

Well, Jax is an alright character, but I do see the reasoning behind his persona being labeled as stereotypical. They do have counterparts to that, though, Kai being a pretty good example. It's all a matter of which is the better/worthier one of the two to continue onto future installments.

I actually lke Jax. I didn't like his whole stereotypical "ghetto" look in DA-A, but I've always liked the metal arms. Even in 2 I thought he was somewhat cool. It's weird writing this, though, because I'm usually really harsh on him because of his uber, hyper, ridiculously bland "blackness." (He's like a freakin' rapper, pretending he's part of a fantasy lifestyle) Honestly, I hope he makes it. If he don't, though, no biggie. When I saw the interview, I walked away with the impression that Kabal wouldn't be in as well, but I didn't get the same impression with Jax--and I was being an impartial listener, I wasn't just hearing what I wanted to hear. I'm not saying that means he's in, but I didn't get the impression that he was KOing Jax. It DID seem as though he did Kabal, though.

MK Vs... will probably become a series, I don't think Boon meant MK vs DC, though there will almost certainly be a sequel. Think about it--DC fans have NEVER had a good video game. This will be their first, if it does, in fact, turn out like I think it will. It'll make money, and the "T" rating assures more people will be able to buy it than previously possible. It may lose a few MK fans (I honestly doubt this, though. I expect a slight loss, but not nearly as much as some are calling for), but it will pick up a ton of DC fans and ordinary gamers who simply want to throw down with Batman. It's win-win. If you don't like it, just be appreciative that it will boost MK's fanbase in the long run, ensuring more games after many of us quit caring (if that evr happens).

I think he meant DC to be honest, look at MVC series which had 2 games, Capcom vs. SNK, etc they each had at least 2 games(sometimes 3 depending on crossover)

Not to say MK won't be vs. someone else perhaps in the distant future, but for the near future next few years, I'd say MK vs. DC will be the only likely crossover and/or MK of course alone separated from the crossover with DC

Both are great characters, and I think some people exaggerate with the whole “ghetto* thing on Jax. Sure it was implemented, but it seriously wasn’t that horrible. Sure it would had been nice not to see him stereotyped, but it doesn’t really destroy the positives of his character.

Jax is a great character imo, and he was starting to feel AMAZING thanks to his MKU bio and ending, and specially, thanks to what his story implied in Sonya’s MKA bio.

But I must admit, I would find it completely annoying and would be upset if special moves were “stolen” and just “copied/pasted” from MK characters to DC characters, but since they are actually improving them and all, its cool. They aren’t just cheap paste excuses, they are looking new and better.

And hey, both Kabal and Jax are iconic in their own right, and Kabal is a fan fave from Mk3, Im sure he could had been well received my fans, but I guess its more then obvious they are implying he and Jax wont make it. Oh well, at least that means theres more chances for Sindel and one of the Cyborgs or even (but I doubt it) Nightwolf!
