andrewbwm, very good breakdown of projectiles. That's something that sits in the back of my mind whenever I do or get hit by one.

The delay from a hit in our current games just gets on my nerves about how loooong it takes to recover. It seems like an eternaty to return to the "ready stance".

Good points though, I am definatly on board for a look into this little quirk.

Hey, that brings something else up. Has anyone noticed the ending of a combo? That looong pause? vs
Watch the end of Kira's combo about 32 sec's in
See what I mean? I think to take such stuff out would be an excellent last minute adjustment. It would allow us to just fight instead of having to wait for the opponent to totally regroup in order to resume combat. If at all reasonable of course. I guess that seeps into the mechanics of gameplay though.

Ahem...

YES! THE THREAD IS STICKIED!

I'd like to thank whoever is responsible. I sent an IM request to DArqueBishop, but SicilyzBabe86 said she'd talk to Crow and Tgrant. I don't know who did it, but thanks.

ThePredator151, you bring up a great point in your MK8 thread. Unlockables and secrets have been trivialized as of late.
I've always wanted unlockables in games that actually make the gameplay better/cooler. There's a problem though. Most of the stuff you suggested there would be too tricky on the gameplay. More stage interaction and the stage that changes shape are cool ideas, but they would make things too unpredictable for comfort. The crowd thing is isn't that bad, but that stage is just asking for trouble.
But your animality thing has great potential. Not the animalities, but the concept behind it. Maybe in MK8, every character could have an alternate version and unlockable codes/pathways for each character to make that version playable, or accessible during Kombat. That's if "Scorpion B" is different enough from "Scorpion A" to warrant the effort.

Later on, I'll probably post:
My little essay on making fatalities (a Work In Progress).
That "soul map" I was talking about in Kreate-A-Kharacter up above.
Tips on creating ideas.

Aside from more ideas of course. Right now I'm too tired.

Thanks again to whomever got this stickied.

Not sure what you're referring to man, I know I had that idea before anyone else on here did concerning the option for KAF alternate costumes, but after that I have no clue as to what you're talking about lol.I'm a bit lost man.

I didn't have much time last night, had to go out for the short answers if that's what you're referring too.

But now since I have more time, here's some more:

-KAF alternate costume idea which I mentioned months ago on here(that AXEMAN also just seconded me on from months ago)

-What if they make the option as Kabal20 and ShadowCat brought up that Khameleon will be Chameleon's alternate possibly.

-Wake up game, a better one even if it's not perfect because nothing is

-Improved online play in general, Deception was great but they can make it even better with MK:A

-An option to allow us to use any of our KAF's online with a load option and not just one or two of them.Say if we make 10 for example, we should be able to use any of them.

-A MK mini sex game, it's rated anyway so... lol

-An option that allows other players online to vote for the best KAF of the month seriously.I think this would be a GREAT idea. It's something that would NEVER die, once you win it, you can't win it again just to be fair with that same character but if you want to make another character then that's fine.Only to be fair.

You know, I cancel my remix of Soulwalkers idea in KAK. Hexadecimal is better. A PS2 and a computer know hexadecimal so well the feature won't take much programming or time to put in. Also, it's just a string of characters.
The KAKs could be downloaded from the MKA online server, or they could be printed for hand input from the MKA online site.
It's a great idea.

Now for the ideas and fatality advice I talked about:

Ideas: Everything new is a modification of something old. To come up with ideas, the basic theme is to look at a problem or existing thing from every possible angle you can think of. Make connections. It's great to combine ideas too.

Fatalities: It's hard to make new, cool fatalities for every character. The roster's been rising and some characters just suck. I can't offer a definite solution, but I can describe my process.
I start out vague and end specific. Unless I'm going backwards. Then I think of how the dead body looks at the end and I make up steps as I rewind them.
Think of this fatality: Quan Chi stabs his opponents throat. He jumps back and works some mojo. All the blood from the opponent's body shoots into his/her throat, building up pressure. The resulting explosion pops off the head. This kill could have had two origins...

Start-to-End way:
1.) I pick a type of fatality out of a mental hat and focus on it. In this idea, it was decapitation.
2.) I ask "how can I cut someone's head off?" That's too limiting for my "vague" clause. I go in again with "in what ways may I separate the head from the body?" It sounds stupid, but vague and rephrased questions can stir different ideas in this area. I came up with an internal explosion.
3.) I attach it to a fitting character. Most people start with a character before thinking of what he/she can do, and that's cool. I have a different look. Almost every type of mutilation has been done in MK, so I think of a cool way to mutilate before sending someone out to do the job. Quan is magic, but It could have easily Scorpion. He could have breathed into their throat and gave their mouth a little burst of flame from a few feet away. I also put some logic into it. Quan poked the throat first so there could be an exploding point for the blood. It's cool to have the characters use their abilities wisely. I love Sub-Zero's spine rip in Shaolin Monks because he freezes the the throat and then rips. It's more believable that way.

"Tarantino" way
1.) I think of how the body looks when "Fatality" dots the screen. In this case, decapitated with blood EVERYWHERE. This should stir up as much thought as the vague questions though.
2.) I backtrack. Blood is everywhere, so it could have been an explosion, or the foe running around. Explosion. Of blood.
3.) I attach it to a fitting character. This time, magic is a more accurate culprit than fire, so Quan Chi and Shang Tsung are very qualified.

That's it for now. Edits and detail could come later.

An idea for Coins...

anybody ever feel like the coins you get in Konquest mode lack purpose??

Here's an idea then. We pay for everything in real life, food, materials, information, AIR!!.

So while I have hinted on this in the past allow me to ellaborate a bit.

In future Konquest mode(assuming they will keep them) why not have your character pay for stuff like this??::

1. Room and board: I say this because it could be motivation to get out of the starting position//room//area and anywhere else that could be deemed as "no possibility of being harmed". Think about it, if you're being charged to stay "safe". Wouldn't you be so inclined to move out even more quickly. I think it might create the "Oh, Shit!" complex in the beginning of playing in this mode while eating up yoour --oh so valuble coins or exp points.
2. Information: Where to go to get whatever it cost you whever
3. Services: Alignment with others should cost, people don't work for free. Or getting some mechanical device to do something to do something should cost
4. Clothes: new costume stuff, Armour, weapons, ect
5. Moves: Lessons from a sensai, Special Moves, ect
6. Transportation: You can't "walk" everywhere. Maybe a toll for portals is nessasary. Of course sufficient ways to make money is nessasary. They were in MKDA with all the side missions, but you kind of start to wonder why you were doing them all besides just to have something to do or for somemore coins.
7. Communication: Maybe...*hesitates*...maybe he pays for the little messages we got in MKSM. I'd think you might really...REALLY want those hints. Don't just give 'em to us this time, make us do something for those cool little hints. Provides worth to the work, the gradification is in then, in figuring out what the hint means and aquiring the prize. Just my thoughts working through hesitation.
8. A night of passion with Mileena----just kiding
9. Boss fights: I think Bosses should be "Worthy" based. I mean the experience points we got in MKSM. Those points kind of lost luster after you beat the game. I'm thinking this was because we got to just fight everybody. If we weren't "worthy" to fight a boss, I think we would be more motivated to complete side missions//get the coins required for other things//fight Sub Bosses and tough multiple opponent fights/// and gain the "worthyness" to fight the bosses. Not so easy this time, the equillibrium between "easy to do" .....and.... "Not so obvious to figure out" should be raised a bit.
10. A visit from a God: I know certain stuff is non-cannon, but in the movies and even in MKSM Raiden visits you from time to time to tell you something important. Why not have the konquest character pay for such a visit?? This relates to info. But It's a special visit. You should make a sacrifice of some sort to see or visit an actual God. Maybe exp points would be sacrificed. Maybe a certain amount of coins would be sacrificed, shit maybe even an innocent person or animal would be killed for the visit. and it should jeopredize the alignment a bit too.

If you're "good", you turn a little bad by a known "evil" god, and if you're bad, you turn a little good by way of a visit from a good God
or. Or a lot, the sacrifice should be worth the visit.

What do ya think?, just an idea. I think it's good enough to put out there.

Ok image when you pick sub zero , and say the other person is cyrax, or any other character in the game. and the level is lin kuei. they show cyrax warmin up. you know throwing a few punches and kicks. Then you see sub zero walk out of the temple and up to cyrax. then it says fight. you could do the same in goro's lair if someone picks goro. Also it would only work if one person picks the character. it only works if it is that person level. so not everybody will have one.

I seriously agree with these ideas.
Also hi I just joined :D

I want some people to check out this system of tag team I made. I wanna try making it official.

The total limit is 3 players on each team (6)

Startup
You select tag team online or offline and then you go to the character select screen. Now you can select any char you want that is available in your memory card. There will different color selections of course like green, yellow, orange, blackm whatever.
To pick a KAK you must select your the KAK icon just like normal and pick. Same thing with the other team but only with the blue one. Nothing happens if you select the opposite KAK icon.

Game Start
The way the game starts is that the characters are lined up next to their allies of course and you can only see your health bar. The camera will show a birds eye view of the arena with the characters and will slide down into the arena where the game will start. The camera will be the same as in 1 vs 1 but you can zoom in and out with the one of the analog sticks (PS2). Even though you can only see your life bar you can press a button assigned by Midway to reveal your allies heal bars near yours for a short period of time. The opposite side has no icon untill you attack an enemy. When you attack their bar will show for 8 seconds and disappear if you don't hit them in that duration.

Lost System
K the way the lost system as in losing all your health will work like this. When you lose all your health a sound like "DEFEATED!" would show up only to you. When you lose all your health you also go into a finish him position (head thing) and lost all control. Now if your allies are still alive it automaticly goes into their view. If they change their view it changes for you too. If it's a 3vs3 match then you can press the left and right arrow to change views from player to player. And of course when a team wins it should say like.
When all your allies are defeated it locks on you again and your character falls.

Scorpion
and
Sub-Zero
Wins

Finishing System
The way the finisher system works like this. When all the enemies are defeated all your allies can do a finisher on anyone. When you do all the people's view will go to the fatality and then abck to them when it's over. After a fatality the timer restarts and your allie has a chance to do a fatality on the other person since the first person is dead by now or your allie couldn't kill them in time.
Then finally it should say like...

Scorpion
and
Sub-Zero
Wins
Fatality

Note: If no one reaches someone to finish them in time neither you or your allies can perform a finisher and then it just says you win as normal.

Also your allies take no damage from your hits and aren't affected by allie projectiles.
______________________________________________________
Here are some things I suggest.

1. Signature moves in fatalities.
2. Tag team hell yea.
3. More character moves.

And several more but I'm too tired.

How about this for "secret" characters:

Like how Liu Kang grabbed Reptile in the first movie.

In opposite of the arena fatalities, You do something
(opportunity based) during the fight to snatch the secret character out of the background.

Remember MK2's Living Forrest? The characters that poped in and out from behind the trees really quickly? Imagine how hard it would be to "catch" the secret character......litterally. The game might then pause to announce the character you found or maybe you would even have to fight that character and win in order to have them as a playable charater. What do you think that would be like?

I think this would be an excellent alternative to "just" litterally unlocking a character.

about the koins: I thought Boon was getting rid of the color koins and making just 1 kind for all things.

about the arenas: Well if they're bringing back every character, why not bring back every arena? that may be asking too much I know but I've seen the MKII Armoury and the MKIII Subway (should we be able to uppercut our opponent to the street above?) I just believe there is so much more I wanted to do in every arena.

Should the run button come back? NO!

From what I've seen and heard that this game has, I'm already sold, I'm gonna be at my store at launch day. I'm gonna get a copy, and I shall enjoy it....a couple weeks later when there is a free FAQ ready. I ain't paying 18 bucks for a flashy strat guide.

i think it would be cool if there was a combos in the hopkido fighting style and a few other like it where you can perform a take down on your apponent and give a few select combos when their on the ground. for instance you take them to the ground, perform a move that apperes to break your opponants arm, or wrist, or just gives a few blows to the body/head (mayby an ax kick to the face. but as to not let it get out of hand, the player can only do so much with his opponant on the ground befer he automaticly backs off allowing the opponant to get back to their feet.

just a thought

I was just watching that Jet Li movie, "Unleashed" again and it gave me an idea for a MK relative mode.

How about a mode or mini game that resembles that fight in the bathroom Jet and Sebastien Soudais?? 2min:44sec into it is the fight I speak of if you wanna see it. Or if you wanna see the whole scene try here, 6min:40sec into this clip to see exactly what I mean.

Extremely close quarters, hand to hand fighting. This fight could be in the form of a "Test your Might" or something and would focus on extremely short range grabs and bends of the opponents limbs. Knees, elbows, head-butts, etc. Like that fight I linked.

Rewards for finishing the challenge well could be:

1. Rank up in skill or unlock more special moves for that character. If the challenge was met by a KAK.
2. Coins or some sort of currency to be used in the Konquest mode. (armour, a cool weapon, whatever)
3. A new way to unlock or find a secret character. (if any ever again)

Might be a little bizzarr but this is the idea thread right?
"Put it out there and see what they think."

So wutdaya think?

I read page one but not page 2 so please dont be mad if someone posted these two ideas Idea one. I think it would be a good idea to be able to use your KAK for konquest but I recall seeing a clip of boon sayin that it would take up to much space but arent there some programms out there to make something such as this possible that could be used on the game.

Idea 2. I think they should bring back impaling enemies with your weapon from DA except for people like raiden who use a staff theres is they brake there weapon in half and then impale the apponent with the sharp points on the broken sticks.

Hopefully this hasn't been said before but I'm sorry if it has.

I say: Deathtrap Kounters.

You Say: But what is Deathtrap Kounters?

I say: Deathtrap Kounters are when you get knocked into one it will turn into a sort of mini game.
Examples:
Subway: You get knocked onto the rails and as the train is coming it goes into slow mo and a Test Your Might bar appears. if you are sucessful you will stop the train and people will come out of the coach and stampede on your opponent and allowed the fight to continue.

Falling Cliffs you get knocked off the edge and you are falling. Slow mo and a Shenmue style QTE Button Sequence appears and if you are successful you will balance on the spike and return to the fight.

You Say: Lol thats not realistic!

I Say: Its Mortal F'n Kombat. So Ed send a cheque.

i don't know if someone say this idea before but, anyway:

kreate a fatality: i think it should look like tony hawk create a trick. There is a 20 second time line where you first choose if its a weapon or martial art fatality, then you pick different move that you put on the time line, so a certain kick could be 6 second and a head ripping would be 12 second. you could put spin and flip to your move( not ripping thing, it would be weird). after that you save it and you can put it on your KAK.

is it good or not?glasses

I say: I really like this idea. Superb man...Superb.

I would love to see something like that in the game. It would give the oportunity to experience the raw power of a mortal kombat character and allow us a modernized version of the "Test Your Might". Who cares about realistic if you can stop a train right? It's a video game. Super stregnth and abilities rule.

If they're a "weaker" (less experienced, mortal, or novice KAK) character it should take more for them to defeat the "Test Your Might" Challenge.

Wow, you can always tell a good idea when it creates more new ideas.
Great stuff man, I love it.

Not too fond of the other one though, but still good.

Thanks.
The other idea comes about becuase I don't think a Test Your Might would suit a fall onto a spike. Its more about reactions than brute strength.

On the Desthtrap Kounters: Maybe Larger Characters (Goro, Shao Kahn etc.) Will have an easier Test Your Might than Smaller characters. But on the flip side Larger Characters will have a larger button sequence for the QTE Style ones than Smaller Characters.

Neither of them suit being stuck in a giant meat grinder though...
