If this game was a hoax, do you know how much DC will sue against Midway for false advertisment? It would shut down their entire industry.

I've resigned myself to the fact that the game is happening.

However, hypothetically, if it WAS a hoax and the "real" MK8 was coming out, I'd do a little happy dance, buy everyone a round of beers, and finally propose to my girlfriend because everything was right in the world.

I would throw a party in honor.

If we'd been on course for MK8 from the beginning I'm not convinced the reception would be much different. Which might not even be wrong. Lord knows there are always ways to be disappointed with an MK release, ie; Scorpion/Sub-Zero shoulder-pad-wardrobe-swap-palooza.

I'd probably explode.

Then...I'd go around ranting and raving, telling everyone "I fackin told you so!!!!" Scroll down a little..

By this point however, it doesn't seem plausible. Looks like they've invested too much time into it for it to be a hoax. Tell ya the truth.

If I remember correctly, I wasn't entirely discouraged with anyones design. I just really thought the graphics needed improvement. That, and the problems I did have with the designs themselves could be solved by simply taking note to critiques of those same images...Also, I would hope they take note to some of the fan contrived fanarts that we've seen from the past and present for each characters alternate costumes. Aculeus and JAX007 have my taste in mind.

On the other hand, and this is really the point, if I was to continue with the conspiracy theory, what we've seen so far could then be speculated as hoax propaganda // paraphernalia or what have you.

So, I'd still maintain my standpoints on those renders if the overall project was a hidden "mk8". The hoax prospect negates nothing as far as my opinion on those pictures are concerned.

I'd go on with life as normal because, after all, it's just a video game.

Well, the talk inside the industry is that the game might get sacked and there will definitely be a new MK game. Think about it, MK VS DC??? Common, this is Mortal Kombat were talking about here.

But since you guys are so cynical, and opt out to close your eyes to the truth, I will happily leave you in your blind ignorance.

I laugh at this post.

But seeing how my last post was too serious and probably realistic... I will just sit at home, and wait for some other Midway game to come out. Not like games are the "end of the world" if they don't satisfy those who are somewhat additcted to something so sheer as a video game. There's more to life than just being a sore whiner who is not pleased that the series is "toning" things down for a quick change.

i would simply show my support by playing justice league on my genesis again. i am so kidding.

I'd be the happiest MK fan on earth! Then I'd say " Bring on the real MK8!"

Hey, I'm a writer! I have to sit on my laurels waiting for other people to be my hands.

Ultimately I definitely come from a writer's logic, but because my interests are heavily rooted in the comics, that attention to concept and logic overlaps with visuals. For me it's much less about a uniform vision for the MK universe, and more about balancing the characters by drawing upon character, utility, and style. It doesn't have to live by an hard fast rule because the investment in the characters should inadvertently produce individuality.

It's a rule of thumb more easily applied to poo-pooing work, more than developing it oneself. As much as I'd pick the MKDA Scorpion look as the least of evils, I'd have to fully concede that it doesn't really connect with the character in his current state as much as the MKvsDC look probably does.
I think there's always been a lot of unused license to elaborate on Scorpion in more interesting ways, but as that hasn't been the case, I think the tangible quality of the MKDA look is by far the best. Especially when Sub-Zero and his ilk deviate toward their own version of the classic swap.

As I say, usually I tell other people what to draw, but maybe I'll try to take this up as a challenge. See if I can put my money where my mouth is.
It'll be tough, though. I feel torn between being very comfortable with the conventions that led to the MKDA look, and wanting to just streamline that a bit; and then also being intellectually pulled in the direction of something totally different. Something that gives Scorpion an even more individual identity in the series, even if it references other ideas.
