Real psycopaths have no emotions whatsoever.
Most people who have some of the traits of psycopaths that do have emotions are more likely to be Anti-social. (this is probably where i fit in)
The sad thing is that the change from the lower level of psycopathy to all out sociopath is very subtle and difficult to detect.
For instance, let's say that a patient with lower levels of psycopathy gets help. Does that person get better? Or do they just learn how to hide it better?
These are the things that keep me up at night, wondering if i'm just getting worse. I think the fear that i'll mess up is what makes it so bad.
I'd like to think that love would help the problem, i'm not sure though. On one hand, it might complicate the problem, on the other hand it might help lessen the inadequecy I feel.
Mmm...I'd probably word it differently, and say psychopaths are simply utterly inconsiderate. Social media has played it up a little too much in my opinion. Personal emotion though, I think even psychopaths still have some degree of that. Emotions initiate the drive to do things, and psychopaths are not without this. Otherwise they'd essentially be vegetables. The mere need to eat and drink has emotional attachments, for instance.
Sociopaths on the other hand, I think they might just need to find something to do. Make something with their hands, or create something that can be seen as important to them, and as a consequence, others.
For your example there, what I propose is that if the psychopath gets help, and decides to hide it, "better" isn't the issue. Influence is, because, if by "helping" the psychopath, the help only influenced them to hide it, it didn't really help anything. It only suppressed the natural behavior of the patient and made them behave deceptively within their pre-existing psychopathy. I don't think that would help, it just made it "harder to detect for a fact".
You could probably surround a typical psychopath with persons and things they show appreciation for, and permitting they respond positively to those things, reward them for that positive behavior. Long route of course, but even persons deemed to be vegetables need this sort of stimuli.
Therefor, I'm cautious about implying that assimilating psychopaths back into a social-ecosystem is ever a feasible resolution. However, surrounding them with things and persons they show appreciation for, offers and reinforces emotional stimuli that could at least normalize sociopathic or psychopathic behavior.
I know a million tests have been done, but a simple one, would be to take someone or something close to them away for a while, and then return them. Watch their reactions to each these events, and hopefully it yields some tools to work with, the way of the patients social behaviors.

I think that if you're just anti-social, someone (including even yourself) that genuinely makes a big deal out of something simple you do could solve a bunch of your issues. Acting like a gateway to social contentment. I agree with you on the love thing though, unless it's introverted and ambitious. Love with someone new is refreshing, but gets complicated quick. It can either do wonders for social behavior, or have tragic affects. Or both I guess.
But that's enough from me, I'm starting to rant...
