Even though some of this is old or not especially interesting to people who kept up with the play, consider that Namco, Sega, and Capcom team leads don't personally post random art tidbits from the development of Street Fighter, Tekken, or Virtua Fighter games for their fans on social networking sites. To my knowledge anyway. So even if these guys post mundane shit, we should still probably be thankful. Because love 'em or hate 'em that's still a pretty cool thing to do.

MKO died when I stopped creating fan art for it. They couldn't even make me a shadow priest. I would've kept that forum alive and kicking. Ah well I moved onto bigger and better things.

Well yea, but member when "nobody" finished the game all the way? I sure do. At first I was elated to go back through it, but when you missed a day & time trying to find like...Liu Kang? Wowee I was pissed.
On another note, I always wished we could jump and climb on stuff in MKD's Konquest. But it was acceptable because of all the other stuff that was there.
You know what else I liked about Konquest? Running around smacking the crap out of the A.I.!
lol

I think another Vampire would be good...I'd take a clan to replace one of the others too. But I don't like the way their going with the design of them. The wings and all that? I mean, make the fact that MK's vampires have them a surprise or something....part of a fatality maybe?
I think the overall design should be simplified...contemporary even. Not all gaudy looking.

Cut these from some of the same pictures Boon is posting up. Did this about 2months ago when I was making animated GIF avatars out of the MKA roster.

With how negative you people are, it's no wonder we never get a "good" MK game. I don't blame them anymore honestly. This community honestly doesn't deserve it. I'd be ashamed to have Ed read any of these threads and see the way a lot of you are acting. I'd not give a crap about making a quality product for any of you. Most developers don't take the time to share little things like this with the fans, and all that's done here on what's the "biggest" MK site is moaning. I can't really imagine what any of them think if they stop by here. I guess they would realize their fanbase is composed of a lot of sniveling, whiny brats who don't appreciate friendly acts of kindness. He doesn't have to post this stuff you know.
I realize the every day threads were much, so I opted to make this one. Yet, people still post negativity. Can't please anyone I guess. I'm really fed up with attitudes of some of you at this point.

I totally agree with you. The problem is that MK community nowdays is full of underaged (20 years or younger) kids who are too hysterical and cry about everything. Many don't appreciate the effort of Ed Boon. I remember in 1993 when we waited the MKII every little MK news (even if it was only a gossip) from Boon and Tobias was like a gift from the sky. Nowdays kids are spoilt and don't appreciate anything. Some of us should create an MK-Veterans community with the oldschool MK fans. :)
Age has nothing to do with it. The MK fanbase is pretty bad, and it gets worse everywhere you go, especially Midway. This is probably the most ungrateful uncompromising fanbase I've ever seen, and while not all of us are like that, the ones that give us the reputation we have

Any news is better than no news at all. At least Ed Boon is talking to us and we know he's working on MK9. Oh, and the Quan Chi render was pretty cool. I'm just hoping he stops messing with us and post some MK9 screenshots or something lol.
You must think you're God's gift to the world huh?

I'd personally have kept up with it because I loved doing it, and loved the community, not because I was expecting some kind of forum promotion...
P.S. With that attitude of yours...good riddance.

Wow, still a self righteous asshole I see. You're the MK equivalent of Jin Saotome from the action figure community.

Mavado should have had that as an alternative costume. Damn right he looked like a matador.... a fucking AWESOME matador! Would have suited him since his namely is largely Spanish-inspired.
Vampire male would have been cool. Is it just me or does his costume look really familiar? LIke it was adapted for someone else? It's driving me nuts.
I really hope Boon keeps uploading this stuff. Especially more claymation figurines.

Forum users who complain about every little thing (especially on news threads such as this!) really bring down the atmosphere of the whole site. It is sad, especially when you look at other MK news sites and you see the lack of whining that goes on over there. I'm not sure what the answer is or what we should do about it.

Holy S***,so much drama in a thread that wasn't even created by me LMAO i am shocked lol,jk.
I am glad there is a thread though that helps to stay in touch with ed on twitter instead of 1 thread per detail even if they are minor.I actually like the Deadly Revenge thing for the gba game.I wonder if they will ever at least give a option to update MKvsDC to where we can get to see the so called, censored fatalities.
Good stuff,I'm looking forward to seeing something from MK9,soon hopefully.

As an in-study game developer and artist, I really enjoy seeing behind-the-scenes stuff like what Ed Boon is posting. And I'm looking forward to anything else he feels compelled to post.
And about the community... I can sympathize with both. I'm a disgrunted MK fan who keeps hoping MK returns to its former glory.... BUT that doesn't mean I should give up when there's plenty of potential for this next installment to really evolve the franchise.
My philosophy is to be skeptical, yet optimistic. It doesn't pay to be a pessimistic, but one can still expect the worst and hope for the best.

Updated with Dairou. This is the original sketch for Dairou they put in the MK:DA Krypt along with some message along the lines of "maybe next time". This is a colored version of that sketch, though. I'm fairly sure I haven't seen this anywhere before now.
Could be wrong though. It's been a little while since I've viewed Krypt stuff.

I've always felt weird about Dairous design. Never knowing whether I actually liked it or not. Usually though, when I feel that way about anything, I try again and maybe go in a different direction.
That's what I'd like them to do with Dairou. He's not a bad character story-wise, but his design drifts away from what his story says he's actually about. In this twitter image, he looks alot better thinner, but that's basically universal. Since all the characters probably would look better thinner.
The gripe would be more about the clump of concepts this twitter image, and his final design encompass. Keep the character, keep the theme similar...I'd just have them try it again, and base the design off of what the story element tells us he should look like, next time.

I always liked Dairou. I liked the fact that Ed said he was a hired guard for Shang Tsung. Man that would of been cool to have him in MKDA as a calling card on Shangs side to fight off Quan Chi. After Shang Tsung became greedy and wanted to Amulet.

I always thought that Dairous and Dairou looked too generic. They need a new look that will appeal to other players, such a look that they will be characters everyone wants in the next MK such as Scorpion or Sub-Zero.Darious needs to lose those sun glasses as well.Always hated them.I've always felt weird about Dairous design.
