I don't think that's a very fair assumption.

They have shown literally millions of ppl some stuff nobody ever would have cared about or known of. Also, they have contributed large sums of money to these same causes, so have the listeners of the music.

Sure they are paid, and so is Audioslave I'm sure, but at least they have/had a message as opposed to the shit that's out there now.

If you want a good idea of what Rock/Metal is listen to AC/DC, Van Halen, Ratt, Twisted Sister, Ted Nugent, Lynard Skynard, Pantera, Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne, Zakk Wylde, Guns N Roses, Nirvana, KISS, Motley Crue, Poison, and even JetBoy! etc. You have to be just plain brain dead to say that that sucks.

I'm all for the old school even if "old school" was back in '93, as long as it isn't something cheap from today then it's probably good. I do still see a lot of skill in some Metal bands today: Arch Enemy, In Flames, Damage Plan, Slayer's "Ina-godda-da-vi-ta" is awesome!

I prefer rock, but not the mainstream shit. I mainly listen to Industrial, Grunge/Post-Grunge, and some Hard Rock/Hardcore.

I don't and never will understand people’s fixation with rap music... I think it suck's crap for the most part. There is the odd song that's actually good but as I said for the most part it's all garbage.

Rock... rock... I mean I will admit that some old school rap is ok... but merely ok... Megadeth is my favorite band followed my old school Metallica... other favorites include Blindside, POD(rap/rock), Papa Roach, Three Days Grace, Static X, Mushroomhead, Stone Sour, Tool, A perfect Cirle, Mudvayne, TRS, Nickleback, Zepplin, Sabbath, Aerosmith and many others...
I mean POD uses rap sometimes nowadays... in their new CD one song is rappish, but then the chorus rocks out... Papa Roach used to rap a lot too, on Infest it was very apparent, but a lot of people hate lovehatetragedy due to the less rapping in it, but I like lovehate tragedy as an album better...
Also, anyone who thinks that rock is screaming to noise... pick a guitar do Dave Mustaines solos in say Holy Wars, 1000 times goodbye, or any of Megadeth's songs outside of the ones on Risk(not all have solos...) or do Cliff Burton's bass solo on Anestisia Pulling Teeth(can't spell)... yeah...
There is some bad rock... I like a lot of new rock, but there is a bit that isn't that great... I seem to enjoy Crossfade's single Cold that is out... later
