Sort of yeah, I'm mixing the real horse and game motaro anatomy to my taste.

You can't see what Motaro's front muscles look like in the game anyway because of the armor, but I can use a real horse for reference, so this is the result.

A small update

Stretched the back of the horse body.

expanded the rib cage side ways.

added an extra muscle to the buttoks

made the hooves

Added spikes on the back of the fore arms.

pulled the front end of the hip bone forward

Moved the hip bone in towards the spine to round out the back end.

Moved the top of the butt down a little to make it more pointed.

Edited the abs a little. Rounded them out some.

And I moved the lower part of the thigh forward some so it looks more realistic.

I'll see if I can get some more work done by tonight.

When you finish up the model, are you going to have him do some cool animation thing like with what you did with Rain and the lightning from his hands?
Yes...

I came up with a bunch of new moves for him that I want to use for an interactive movie.

Like if you don't do anything, he'll be in his fight stance animated, if you press the Keys in the number pad on the key board and He'll do different attacks or roar....
Also using the arrow keys, if you press up, hell stand on his hind legs and roar, if you press > or < He'll walk if you press Down, he'll do some taunt.

I'll try to make a lot of animations for him.

I still have to figure out exactly how I'm going to design this interactive movie.

That is simply amazing, bleed. I used to be big a Motaro fan and seeing this 3D artwork of yours ignites the fire once again in me, Its got me in the moon to play MK Trilogy again!!
What I REALLY love is how you've been able to recreate his same facial expression as in MKT, that really lowered frown as if to he's looking down his nose at everyone.
That metal protector around his waist could really be an oportunity to give him a little originality, maybe come up with your own designs or enhance his old one, but either way Im sure you'll make him look stunning. wink
It's clear you're great skill and motivation would be a real asset to Midway. I really pray one day they'll give you a shot, dude.
Damn! Great job, cousin! Every time I see an update I like it more and more. It looks great so far. Can't wait to see it finished.
Keep us updated. wink
Hi Bleed, it'z me again.
I'd like to say I loved your progress on Motaro's modeling so far. Midway really should hire you for MK: Devastation XD
The only thing I actually didn't like is his expression. He seems to me a little indifferent, instead of his usual badass look (like in the picture of his ending you even posted some time ago). But, let's wait for more updates, right? ^^x

I haven't updated in a while because I've been busy with MKD. But I'll get back to work on him now.

I am going to make new armor for motaro Look in my Sig for a Motaro WIP page link.

You can see the sketch there.

And I came up with this idea for Fujin, I just sketched this out real quick, but you get the idea.

I'll probably make Fujin too.

Oh my god. did you just just say that Bryce is the best... for anything. Bryce is easy, but even Terragen which is free, yields infinately better results than Bryce. Terragen is actually easier to use too.

Here's the link for it

If I want to have a back ground, I'll either paint it, or model it my self. I don't want to take any short cuts.

I'm doing this to improve my skills.

Anyway, I finally backed off of MKD and I got a little work in on Motaro.

I did most of the work on the abs, but I reworked the entire trunk in one way or another.

Oooh, nice. If anything, he's a little _too_ cut.
Hmmmm, that's the way I want it, I like the comic book look. I understand what you are saying though.

I can smooth him out for relaxed poses and then just have him get ripped for certain poses.

I'd look better that way. I just have to figure out how I'm gonna do that.

He'd look pretty cool with some hugeass veins.
Well I have kind of a big update here... but I had a lot of help from this guy. He's a pro in the field.

He reworked the proportions for me and I love what he did with it.

He totally opened my eyes to ideas I hadn't thought of on my own. I was stuck trying to keep things looking more true to life instead of editing or exaggerating them to make them look better or make more sense.

This guy did me a huge favor.

I'm going to change some things though from what he did, so it looks a bit more like the MK3 motaro.

OK, so now that the proportions are good IMO, I'll get started on the detail work.

Finally

I still would like to read some comments on the new version of this model. Point out things that you think would look better one way or the other. Nothing is set in stone.

I see some things my self, but I want to know what everybody else thinks.

I don't like that new look at all. He took your design and made it look... goofy. The tweaks almost look opposite to the direction you were going, realistic. The one thing that looked odd in your original design was his big butt. I always thought in the game he was more streamlined. Depends on what you are looking at too. Screen shots in the game have a different aspect ratio than monitor shots.

Anyway, that's my opinion, much as it's worth.

That's my opinion if thats the new one.

I agree the editing the other artist did for me made him look more cartooney than what I'm going for, but It does give me some ideas when I edit the original one my self.

For example some of the stuff he did to it that I like are The thicker wrists, the more slender horse body, the horns and top of the head, the bigger hands and the curve on the horse's back.

Those are some things that I can take from his suggestions and implement them to the more realistic model to make it look better, but still keeping the more realistic style.

That's also why I post all this stuff. A lot of times other people pick up on stuff that I don't.

Keep the critiques coming!
I freaking LOVE your Motaro! It's 1000x better than Motaro from Konquest mode. I also love your take on Fujin. VERY nice.

Incredible... I personally like your rendered work of Motaro better than the guy who edited it. The whole insanely muscular look along with his muscular and somewaht wide face really defined your Motaro. As for the whole horse body, I thought Motaro's body was more of a Gazelle-like animal's body and not that of a horse. Not that it maters cause your version is a lot better than any other rendition of Motaro I've seen. Major props for your skill in 3DS. I'm hoping to begin evolving in my skills at the program myself and its nice to be able to see what an advances user can do with the program. I can't wait to see the finished textured beast, I look forward to it with great anticipation.
Yeah, the Motaro I'm making doesn't look the same as the MK3 version.

I'm making my own design. Armor and body type.

I was also thinking of experimenting with different colors for him.

Maybe a black Motaro, like the typical evil horse.

I can make the 2 versions very easy, it's just switching one color for another on the texture sheet.

If you want to learn a 3D program, I would suggest Maya.

That's the program almost every company is using for both film and games.

I need to learn that program bad. It's holding me back not having Maya in my resume.
