Aquaman and Thor 3 were shot in Australia and I don't recall them being low budget films. The Australians locations we've seen so far are gorgeous.

If Mileena’s teeth in this movie are practical effects then that would be fucking amazing

The caption says that she is getting her Tarkatan tongue created.. so if they are doing that, the teeth may very well be some level of practical :)

Greg Russo posted a tweet addressing fans’ concerns about the film.

Cage might appear somewhere in this film or in a sequel maybe?

Week 8 Production is About to Begin...

  • Mehcad Brooks and Max Huang conversed in the comment section of Mehcad's post of him on a plane to Sydney for the weekend. He will be back on Monday.
  • Max Huang posted alot of BTS training videos of him doing Kung Lao moves asking fans what they want to see him do.
  • SiSi Stringer took to Instagram to debunk fan hysteria that Mileena is an alien (technically, everyone not from the planet Earth is an alien so I don't know the meaning of this)
  • Quite a lot more revealing BTS photos have been revealed throughout the whole week. Don't assume because you see what looks to be a makeup artist making a mold/cast of SiSi's tongue that the tongue won't or can't be CG because it's way too early to even speculate.
  • One of the photos show a big tractor and what appears to be a white screen.
  • As for script order, I would say we are all over the place and possibly this was done to accomodate schedules of the cast, although like it was suggested, they hit up Coober Pedy before weather gets bad there. We are definitely at a new location (new to you aka not in the game or other movies, old to me) that will involve Sonya Blade.

It is very clear that the cast and crew are becoming pissed at the concerns being thrown at them as well as thankful for all the good vibes thrown at them (Jessica Namee shouted out some posts on Twitter mainly Halloween related).

However, I do suggest, do not prejudge this film without seeing it first. Even if you skip the theater and watch it when it comes out on home release if you are very concerned about this film.

What I will tell you is what the cast and crew are telling you - you're in for a treat. If you expect it to be a rehash of MK1-3 or MK9 verbatim then it's time to check yourself before you wreck yourself and just wait for the film to be released to home media. Please. For the safety of everyone who goes to the theater. Some of you, especially who waste the last page ranting, need immediate intervention with a psychiatrist and hospitalized.

On that note, don't take everything you see the cast and crew post to their stories responding to fans' concerns as some sign they may be telling you something. They may actually be avoiding the hint you think their story suggests and just trying to make a fan happy. Be thankful they are interacting with us and treat every post, story, tweet, etc. as just that - fan interaction.

Mortal Kombat "fans" are becoming as trollish as Star Wars fans.. it's a worry :(

No wonder more and more actors ghost social media rather than interact on it as much as they use to

Week 8 Production:

As Week 8/12 is about to begin, we are treated to the stars visiting a cube-shaped restaurant with a variety of rare offerings (from goat to what looks to be ostrich eggs?) and a powdery sherbert desert that Tan and Lawson joking use like it's cocaine; Lawson sucks it in his mouth whereas Lewis Tan snorts it. Both used a rolled up $100 American bill.

Now for those of you who followed me since 2011, you'll know I use to work with a former stuntman (Donnie Hair) from the first MK film. He died on a cocaine binge and cocaine deaths are all too common in Hollywood. So needlessly to say I did tell Tan they should be ashamed of themselves for that joke, especially since being in Hollywood he's not "above" cocaine as that shit flows like it's no tomorrow there.

Anyway, I saved a lot of photos from this weekend.

Mehcad Brooks is probably back by now and posted a funny photo from the plane.

Joe Taslim's wife joined them as well as Lawson's wife and they look like they had a fun limo ride.

Hopefully, that limo ride and very posh lunch isn't paid by the film's budget or I will be pissed since that's money taken away from the production.

Well, the fact that the cast and crew (and writer, lol) are using social media for Damage Control is indicative of how poor their communication has been so far.

Noone is overreacting for the lack of 1:1 Representation of the MK lore, don't even know where this false narrative is coming from, people are expressing their legit doubts about the movie based on the infos released so far (which are not many, but not even too few, thanks to the social media they are filling with movies and clips).

So far we know that the movie is low budget and that they chose Australia not for artistic choice, but for budget and logistics . So far we know that no famous names are attached to it. And that there is an unnecessary original character in it with a major role. Also, Johnny Cage is not part of the main characters group, but might be added in the future with a "big plan". Also, Mileena is played by an actress with basically zero experience and zero resemblance to the character. I mean, the other actors at least resemble the part, but Sisi Stringer is something else.

Nobody is saying the movie will be shit, but the premises are not encouraging at all and that some odd choices have been made.

Questioning people's sanity over legit complaints (again, for what is known so far) is shallow at best, stupid at worst.

And no shit, I know that A-list actors are no guarantee of success, but also this kind of movie needs at least one. And needs a more Eastern atmosphere, imo.

All in all, I want this movie to be successful and spawn sequels. I am worried about that.

https://hnentertainment.co/exclusive-mortal-kombat-movie-will-include-jarek-and-black-dragon/

If true, Kabal and Jarek confirmed.

Also the article implies that Joel Edgerton is all but confirmed in the role of Kano. But I like the idea of live action Kabal and minor characters cameos.

That article was way back in August. And it's not entirely accurate nor is it based on any legitimate sources nor is HN a legitimate news source.

Josh Lawson was confirmed as Kano about a week after that article. Here is the official source confirming Josh Lawson: https://deadline.com/2019/08/lewis-tan-jessica-mcnamee-josh-lawson-mortal-kombat-new-line-1202704502/

I love how it's damage control when it's something someone disagrees with.

It's like who felt MK11 was in damage control due to no Mileena - fact is it is the best selling, best rating of any MK game. Just because a very small % don't agree with it, doesn't mean it's bad. Just because the cast and crew are genuinely buzzed, doesn't mean it's bad. For a lot of them, this is the biggest thing they have done in terms of the legacy of the source material. Let the world smile :)

1) I am not one of those Mileena protesters

2) MK X is still the most sold MK game, 11 still has to reach a lot before that

3) it is damage control when there is outrage on social media and you spill the beans about Johnny Cage when you were supposed to say that since the beginning and when you need to reassure your fan base that "no one is getting replaced or is going to skip the movie".

Not's not at all what Greg Russo tweeted. Stop taking things out of context. This is his exact tweet:

I understand some fans are concerned that certain characters haven't been announced. Let me assure you that there's a plan in place for everyone. Has been for some time. No one will be replaced and no one will be forgotten. It's about making sure we do them proper justice! #MK

As I said before and as I said again, who the hell said his plans are for only THIS film? I'm giving away too much when I say this is a Part 1 or a prequel to the MK universe we already know (and STOLEN FROM "ENTER THE DRAGON") and I won't say any more than that. If you don't like it, get over it and move on until Part 2 is released. Bottom line. They are building up new fans to build a larger, global-scale because of "die-hards" like you who cry and try to use political phrases like "the narrative" and "damage control" like some nutjob conspiracy theorist wacko who needs medicated. Just stop already. I'm not spilling any more no matter how hard you try to fish it out of me. This movie is NOT for you, carry on my wayward son and let there be peace where you are from.

Week 8 Updates...

Mehcad Brooks is back based on his weekend notes.

Max Huang is talking about Day 1 on set... for some reason I thought he was already on set and if this is truly Day 1 they are getting into the middle and end of the film and very likely still trying to film in script order.

Max Huang is photographed with Josh Lawson so both Kano and Kung Lao are being filmed, which tells me we are in the tail-end of the middle part of the film leading up to the third act.

Jessica Namee (Sonya Blade) has revealed in her IG story an awesome BTS video of set design, it looks older and we have seen it before but it still looks cool.

Greg Russo's previous tweets are now directed towards fan concerns. His latest tweet responds to a fan asking why a release date of 2021 and he answers with "Greg Russo @WriterRusso Cause the world ain’t ready for it yet. #MortalKombat"

So there will obviously be a lot of marketing and probably some way of calming down outraged fan concerns.

I do believe production is seeing these posts. One big reason is because I asked for BTS footage and got it the next week thanks to the cast and crew on social media. Greg Russo had been silent for weeks until I commented concerns, asking if he was alright. I also noted his early absence from social media on here and that next week or so he's been more active. So please be respectful when you reply - you never know who is watching you.

Photos from today (so far:)

That's exactly what Greg Russo wrote, I didn't take anything out of context. Also don't know what conspiracy theory you are referring about if not the ones in your addled mind.

Also, nobody is trying to make you spoil more infos on the movie.

I just expressed my legit doubts for what ilittle is known about this movie, nothing more, nothing less. Just keep expectations in check because the MK franchise is not big enough to spawn a full fledged cinematic universe like Marvel.

For now, it this movie reaches the same levels of the first one is a great thing. I'd be glad to change my mind in the future, but right now the premise is that of a left on its own. That's it.

Re: Kung Lao.. I think he's been hanging out with the cast and crew for a few weeks, but I guess that was to build chemistry with the cast and maybe better understand his character, techniques, and vibe.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Kano looks - Lawson has a bit of swagger to him, and obviously looks different to the early games given he's not the Japanese-American ancestry.

Yes this is definitely a different look for Kano in some ways. Kind of younger in a sense.
