Can you back up your statement with stone cold evidence that Linden Ashby actually said that.
There are a lot more "younger" guys to fill the role of Johnny Cage. If you haven't notice, Linden is a bit older than what he was back in 1995.

A CG film would be the way to go, that way the costumes and fight scenes don't get too silly with live action. Plus they could get some grade-A voice actors.
Crispin Freeman as Raiden
Johnny Yong Bosch as Liu Kang (he could do Liu live action as well)
Stephen Jay Blum as Kung Lao
Michelle Ruff as Sonya
Whoever voiced Scorp and Sub in MK vs DC should reprise their roles.

44-year-old eighth-degree black belt Chris Casamassa claims he’s set to start filming the third Mortal Kombat film in September. Casamassa is a stunt performer who played the role of Scorpion in the first two films.
From this, he branched out, most notably for his role as "Scorpion" in "Mortal Kombat," "Mortal Kombat: Annihilation," and as George Clooney's stunt double in "Batman & Robin."
chris wasnt in the second mk movie.
in mka scorp was played by jj perry (who was also the "stunt" cage in the first movie, and played sub-zero on conquest)
so...yea.

I don't think Blum's voice would fit Kung Lao. Don't get me wrong he's a great voice actor and a top notch one at that but he'd probably be more suited for a villain in MK then a hero like Kung Lao

We're not updating on this guys, please don't send any more leads. At this point anything the former stars say about a MK3 movie has to be taken with a grain of salt, and we don't report on rumors. Especially rumors that have turned out to be false several times in years passed.

I disagree, I can see him portraying MKSM Kung Lao (who I saw as more of a wild persona) similar to Kazuma from scryed or as a more calm and concentrated Kung Lao similar to Kyoshiro from Code Geass

I'm not going to bring up why Code Geass is crap (and the English dubbing only added to the horribleness of it) but for me his definitive voice portrayal will and always be Spike Spiegel in Cowboy Bebop.
I always have in mind when I see Kung Lao (because I never played MKSM), he was always a more calmer type persona, the monk to me then a wilder fighter. And Blum has an intensity he can bring that I think would better served for a villain or anti-hero type character like he was with Mugen in Samurai Champloo who was a great (and very well portrayed) anti-hero type character

I want another MK movie, but I feel this is not the right time to make one.
They should wait.
They should wait.

I guarantee a 3rd MK movie will be straight to DVD, UNLESS it is a remake like Batman Begins or Incredible Hulk which would therefore start a new series/trilogy.

Rumor or not, I think it'd be too soon.
I've never seen a game franchise build momentum starting with a movie.
a.) A good game comes first, then news about a second game, then the movie arrives, then the second game arrives.
b.) Or a good game comes first, then the second game arrives, directly followed by the movies arrival.
I mean, if they waited a year from Sept '09, it'd still be plenty of time to hit the theaters around the "MK10" or w/e. Year 2012 or something would see MK10 and a movie. Plus, they'd probably have a bigger budget to work with coming off MK9. Which would make the movie better, presumably. Better CG work, props & special effects..better screenplay and script writers, better actors can be paid ect ect
Yea, if this is true, it won't be good and I don't want it. Certainly won't be on par with anything cuz it'll be cheap as hell. And it won't make any sense...nothing. Think about it, what are they gonna do? Remake MK1? Base the story around MK2, or 3?
Nobody but us knows the story well enough. lol It would be a disaster. Going straight to DVD wouldn't help a thing because nobody cares right now.
We need a good game first. Then I could see a good movie following that up, that continued the story and events that happen in MK9.
"Reinvention", ya know?

I would kill. I would literally walk into the theater with my .357 Magnum and start shooting people if they made it CG! I want a real movie. I'm sorry, but I haven't been waiting since '98 for them to cheat me like that! Hell no...

I wouldn't call it cheating.. I would kill if they had crappy live action fight scenes and costumes that would look horrible on real people, or generic costumes which destroyed the look we've grown so attatched to.

Honestly, a bit surprised as to how many people are skeptical with various "hints" at this movie but I suppose I should be used to it by now.
I think now that WB has it, that might play a big role at some point if Threshold continues to be part of the problem.
I just remember when rumors flew all over about DD being in Smallville, nobody believed it but it happened....same with DC vs. MK. Remember when nobody believed it except a select few? Yeah...
This will happen, not sure when exactly but it will and I will wait

And Robin Shou just did that bad Street Fighter movie so he still acts and Chris Lambert is a must in my book he IS Rayden as far as I'm concerned.

I personally wouldn't mind Sandra Hess coming back, her sonya was way more badass then Wilsons. I always saw Wilsons as more "bitchy and stuck up" as oppose to "badass/don't take shit" from anyone which is more what Sandra did, yet was also likable and just as hot if not hotter. Plus, Sandra was better at the fighting sequences then Wilson easily. I'll make a prediction. Lambert, Shou, Ashby and Cassamassa will be back. Anyone new or else I don't know...mkflegend Wrote:

You don't want anybody new?
I don't really have any one in mind in particular, but I'd love to see them recast a few roles. Actually, here's a few tries:
[1.] Raiden - Michael C. Hall [Dexter], Brendan Fraser (w/training), or like Gerard Butler. Lambert and Meeks were both good, but I'd switch it up. Get someone who's capable of light and Dark Raiden. These three guys are good enough to do it.
[2.] Liu Kang - I believe Robin could still do it. All he really does is action films. But I might try Tony Jaa here too.
[3.] *Kung Lao - Tony Jaa, definitely.
[4.] Kitana - Talisa's still good to go.
[5.] Scorpion - Casamassa's still good to go.
[6.] Sub-Zero - idk who'd fit, but a martial artist that is of the size, or at least voice caliber of guys like Russel Crowe, or Gerard Butler sound good. Hard pressed to find a guy with those qualifications though, I'd bet.
[7.] Sonya - I liked Briget better. Better Sonya actor, but I'd try someone of the caliber of Milla Jovovich. She already has done a great job with a similar role in RE1-3.
[8.] Cage - I'd probably look at training Chris Evans, or James Marsden. Same guy basically. James is a little dryer than Chris though.
[9.] Shang Tsung - Bruce Locke is still the best I've seen outside of Tagawa. Locke is a good actor, and he looks about identical to the character.
[10.] Quan Chi - MKC did good with Adoni Maropis
yea, idk. But I welcome change though.
EDIT: I'll move this thread to the Media Forum in a minute.

I reckon a lot of you guys are high!
I mean i know the first film is not the best film around but for fucks sake it is a great adaption of the franchise for commercial interest!
Id like to see you do a better MK film.
