New MK Movie In The Works

You know which forum this is supposed to be in. And of course it won't be Rebirth. Why would it be, after they spent all that time on Legacy?
Really hope they don't fuck this up, though if they're making it a proper follow up to Legacy, they already have.
Moving it.

Well it'll surely be a continuation of the Legacy shorts, Tancharoen always said that was kind of the point of making them, to give backstory for the characters leading up to a potential film. I just hope that with the addition of an actual budget, he manages to get better sets, costumes, and makeup when it comes to the Outworld stuff, 'cause that Baraka and Kahn were...the word I would use is "unacceptable".

Not really surprising, since it was mentioned sometime ago that a new MK would be made after legacy..

Hopefully it's not that rebirth crap.

Good find man and I agree although I liked Mortal Kombat Legacy sometimes, it's not really Mortal Kombat with the hyper realism and too many liberties were taken, I have no problem with some alterations in a few areas, but I'm just hoping for a truly MK movie.
I'm really happy about this, hopefully we get a nice balance of story and combat, the original Mortal Kombat did a great job of that and captured the personalities of all the characters surprisingly well.

Michael Jai White as Jax,Ian Anthony Dale as Scorpion are MUST!
Matt Mullins as Johnny Cage will be cool!
Darren Shahlavi as Kano? I don't know,he was ok,I guess.
Lateef Crowder as Kai(capoeira BITCH!
) or Kabal.
Scott Adkins as Kuai Liang will be cool I guess. And bring in Tony Jaa as Kung Lao!!!
AND PLEASE! Somebody change that horrific Jeri Ryan as Sonya, she is too old for that!

This sounds great. I am a fan of the Legacy series, and I was hoping to see more episodes soon, but a movie would be just as great, if not even more. ^^
I wonder if Jade will appear in it. If she does, I hope she will have a black woman play her, and not a white or Asian woman.

1. A new MK movie?.....dude...bitchin.
2. Yes it has.
3 So have you. Where were you Ahnka?
It was the MK movies and Conquest that got me into Mortal Kombat (and to this day I'd rather watch an MKC episode than play an MK game), so I've always been keeping a special eye on this sort of news piece. Ever since 2000 there have been on and off announcements of the next MK movie, with confirmed dates, confirmed actors, confirmed writers and confirmed producers. I stopped believing or giving a damn about 5 years ago.
So... I'll believe it when I'm holding the ticket stub in my hand. Having said that, I do admit that this has really brought my faith back.

I really wish it won't be like Legacy, but I'm almost positive it will be.
Nothing against those who like it, but I'm just not feeling it...
Whateva. My fingers are crossed for some cinematic gold.

i told you Legacy was just the "The Journey Begins" of this generation!

Based on my business sense, the same sense that allowed me to express Legacy was this generation's "The Journey Begins" what was planned for Season 2 will likely make the movie, since the first movie was practically short intros and then the tournament, almost continuing from The Journey Begins (except TJB started on the ship and in the movie that was pretty much the end of Act I).

It's fun to see MK reclaiming its relevance in the broader spectrum.
Would personally like to see a drastic change in direction, but I won't hold my breath. Will be interesting to see what a larger budget does for things.

Sweet. Legacy was by and large great fun with a few glaring errors, and I'm looking forward to seeing what else is in store. Let's just make sure our beloved cast looks and feels like our beloved cast, and we're good.
CS: Is this something that's going to continue elements of the web series?
Tancharoen: No, this is a new take and it's not going to continue directly off of the web series. There will be elements that are familiar to the people that have watched it, but it is its own movie. I wanted to make sure that, regardless of anything else, that it's a good movie. It doesn't have to be something that you will have had to have seen all ten episodes previously to understand or have played the videogame to understand. It'll live on its own and be its own film and will hopefully be something that can continue on. It's such a big story that you could have two or three movies, but I want to make sure that the first one is good on its own.
