Unless the harpoon is not just a Scorpion thing, but a Shirai Ryu thing. And then he'd just compensate for the lack of hell powers with generic ninja techniques like smoke bombs and shit.

That way, he'd play more like a mix between Scorpion and Smoke. I can dig it.

Just read it. I'm kind neutral right now 'cuz the plots just getting set up. Things did feel a bit fast paced, like "MUA HA HA I'M THE VILLAIN NOW I'M DEAD". I would have kept the mom alive, tho. Showing relationship can help develop the characters in a "Why? What the hell did you see in them???" kinda way. Then again, I do have a habit of focusing on useless details like that a lot. That kid better not get annoying.

The timeline will jump around even in the comic book. Quan Chi is suppose to send Scorpion to fight Raiden in one issue and I'm guessing its during the Netherrealm wars so that'll be interesting. So we may see more on Hsu Hao's involvement into the red dragon and Kenshi's relationship with his wife/gf. We won't always see bad guys get killed I suppose. I don't feel like Kai has a good chance of getting in the game and he may be on the receiving end of a fatality. I can also see Jax making it out of the Quan Chi's control only to get killed by a character like Movado.

So, Kenshi is basically a playable character. He's becoming very central to this storyline.

10 bucks says Deagon is the final boss.

I'm beginning to think that Netherrealm is finally going to make Scorpion an integral part of the story, especially when you look at how they are setting him up, actually giving him a personality and not chaining him down with the same tunnel-visioned revenge story.

This was fucking amazing. Scorpion ACTUALLY gets character development and this Hsu Hao is better than his game counterpart. I knew he was going to get killed off lol.

Takeda will probably be a playable character i'm guessing

And Sub Zero looks sick. I think it's Kuai but I could be wrong.

Yeah, I'm thinking Takeda is just about 100% confirmed. He'll be apart of the new crew of descendents, alongside Cassie Cage.

Making me wonder what his moveset will be like. If he's being trained by Scorpion, maybe he'll have humanized versions of his attacks or something. Or

if Kenshi's telekinesis abilities are genetic, then maybe we'll see a fusion of Kenshi and Scorpion movesets.

This was Excellent! The art was great, and I really like the tone they are setting up for the story.

A few thoughts:

I agree with most of you that Tekeda will likely be on the MKX roster. He's set up perfectly with having Scorpion and Kenshi as father figures. I know most people are sick of seeing so many ninjas, but they can make them all look so individualized now that it does not feel as redundant. It's not like the old palette swapping days. As far as his moves go, I think they should be mostly fresh. Maybe give him Scorpion's teleport and a couple of Kenshi's psychic abilities. But give the kid some ninja stars or something as projectiles.

I hope that Suchin is somehow not dead, because in her brief scene, she was AWESOME! I'd love for her to be on the roster.

Liking Scorpion's Jedi look.

Sub-Zero's personality was very present. Still no idea which one he is, but I'm excited either way.

Can't wait 'till Sunday!!

Looks great so far...

- I like how they re-used the Takeda name finally. I've always liked that name.
- Also like the changes to Scorpion outside of the seemingly small location foul up. Scorpion is JAPANese. - Other than that, it's about time! Maybe I'll start to like him more now.
- I like how they changed Hsu Hao...and killed him, from what I've seen. Well played.
- Kenshi was a badass when they introduced him way back in MKDA...and still is. I wonder who Kenshi's "Billie Jean"/"Baby Momma" is?

Everything looks good to me so far...bring it on!

I liked it, but it felt rushed. Like the nonexistent Kenshi Vs. Hsu Hao and Hsu Hao vs Scorpion "fights". It just kinda cut to the end result, but for some reason Takeda's Mom, a non existent character, gets a three panel fight sequence. For a game centered around martial arts and fighting its disappointing to not have any actual fight scenes. Just instant fatalities. Like I can understand just dropping goons, but for legit characters? C'mon, show the action. It was also weird seeing the Red Dragon goons riding motorcycles and shooting arrows, like its obviously present time why not use guns? But thats just MK for ya, so I'll let that pass. And I guess in this universe Sub Zero (who I still bet will be kuai liang) gets his iconic scar from a minor run in with Kano. Kinda underwhelming and insignificant imo. Overall these are pretty minor gripes, I'm for sure looking forward to the next issue to see it develop more. Love the way Kano was briefly portrayed and liked that, so far, its not just good vs evil, its a bunch of different factions doing their own thing.

Also, damn, lots a people jumping the gun on Takeda as a playable character in the game. I'm sure the writers have created a surplus amount of characters to further the story, doesn't mean they're gonna be playable or even in the game.

Everyone here mentioning Takeda possibly being playable... Don't forget we still haven't seen either Sonya or Johnny playable yet and Boon's (I think it was his) comment about children fighting against their parents or vice versa. Even if Sonya or Johnny are in the game, it's still completely possible that both Takeda and Kenshi could be playable as it was never limited to just one MK family in the game. As someone else mentioned, Takeda more than likely will have his own move-set to set him apart, something a little more ninja-ish. I highly doubt he would have anything telekinetic because I'm also betting Ermac will be in the game and 3 is a little too much, especially with the different variations. But it's NRS, you know never. Or perhaps Takeda is just something for the comics? Our 'way in' to the comic storyline per say.

I'm not entirely sure why people think Kenshi couldn't be in if Takeda is in. It's not like we can't have both or anything. And really, it's not guaranteed Takeda will be playable or even in the game at all.

Yeah same here. I was wondering when it's getting released on print? I saw Issue #1 a while ago up for advanced order on Mid Town comic's site, but now it's gone. They only have issue #3 and the full graphic novel up for advanced order now. I want to get issue #1, because they're offering 2 different cover variations. One with scorpion and one with Sub-zero.

I'm concerned about one thing if the comic is indeed cannon with the MKX storyline, if Hanzo did indeed conquer Scorpion, he sure seems his old vengeful self in the game. I wonder if there will be a turn of events in the following issues that will bring Scorpion (wraith) back just in time for MKX.

Our best estimate puts the present of the comic book in around the middle of the MK X timeline. So the asshole Scorpion probably will come around in the first parts of the story.

Unless he goes full self-diagnosed Aspergers-mode and revenges everything including his fridge.

Somebody posted this not too long ago and it saddens me a bit.
"After horrifically disfiguring himself and massacring the rest of the Shirai Ryu, Fox, possessed by an unknown force, implores Takeda to finish Scorpion or suffer the same fate as the rest of his clan!"

If this story arc is in the comics then Forrest Fox possibly possessed by one of the Kamidogu(and the self mutilation suggests Quan Chi's involvement) has murdered all of the Shirai Ryu and is trying to force Takeda to kill Hanzo.

I'm wondering that since Hanzo has control of Scorpion and he came back to earthrealm has he become weaker? His powers grew in the netherrealm but do they diminish in earthrealm? It seems like Forrest Fox has gone Sindel and kicked a whole lot of ass but I would think Scorpion would be capable of stopping it unless the curse of the Kamidogu is of extreme power or Hanzo has lost his edge since returning to Earth.

I read the review from the original post, and I didn't think so critically of it. I thought it was an awesome read. I'm assuming that the comics are going to jump back and forth in the time line just how its implied in the game.

Now here's what I'm speculating based on what I saw in the comics

Part 1 Spoilers

Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
So seeing how Kenshi and Scorpion have an already established relationship and their mentioning of a past event of the Netherealm war, I'm assuming that in the game we are going to be playing that part of the story and the comics won't show us anything that happens. Seeing how Sonya was calling him on his satellite phone I believe she's going to be the one who reaches out to him and recruits him in the "Netherrealm war". I believe that Kenshi is most definitely going to be a playable character in the game, seeing the image of the mocap actor with Kenshi's telekinetic pose makes me feel very confident about his inclusion after reading this issue. I have a strong feeling that Takeda will be another character in the game as well. The idea about offspring killing their parents makes sense in Takeda's case because he may feel that Kenshi was the reason his mother was killed. Takeda most likely will be a ninja character and a protegee of Scorpion as a member of the Shirai Ryu.

Part 2 Spoilers

Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
Sub-Zero's fusion of his MK9 and MK3 look was amazing and I hope we get to see an alternate costume in some shape or form of that. It's a coin toss to see who the identity of this Sub-Zero is but I have a strong feeling that the Sub-Zero we are looking at is Kuai Liang because he mentioned Raiden. I'm speculating that Raiden triggered the Netherealm wars to break out the rest of the Earthrealm warriors. All signs point to this seeing as how Scorpion now has a mortal form, and we have Kung Lao back as an old man. I believe that Raiden sprung Kuai Liang out with the rest of the good guys and now we have a human Sub-Zero who is indebted to Raiden and serves him. This would explain why the other Red Dragon clan member mentioned him serving Quan Chi. The only thing that makes me not fully commit to this belief is that the images we saw of Sub-Zero in the game features him without the scar, which he clearly has by Kano
