I hope the mods are okay with this. Anyway...

WALL OF TEXT INCOMING

I'm a huge MK music fan. After years of prowling the high seas of the internets,I've amassed pretty much every single MK OST out there,be it from games or movies or otherwise (with the notable exception of a couple of rarities). Unfortunately, many MK games never recieved an official soundtrack release. If they did,I'd be the first one to preorder the entire fucking shipment, but that,to my dismay, never happened. That's why I've been searching tirelessly for the best, the most high-quality and the most comprehensive soundtrack rips of those games (well, the ones that matter, anyway *cough*SNES ports*cough*). My standards are very high when it comes to MK music,so some of the rips I found didn't satisfy me. Sometimes, the quality wasn't high enough, and the tracks sounded all muffled. Sometimes, the tracks just ended abruptly. Sometimes, there were stutterings. But most often I ran into the rips that simply didn't have all the music from a game. Considering that Deception and Armageddon have humongous fucking soundtracks,20 or so tracks from the sound test don't do them any justice at all.

This is why I decided to make my own rips, with blackjack and hookers. =)
Since I'm a lazy bastard,I tend to work in bursts, and then not return to my work for a long, long time. All in all,the rips of Deadly Alliance,Deception and Armageddon took me over two years to make, and I gotta say,I'm pretty damn satisfied with the results. They can still be improved, since I'm far from being a master ripper, but I know that I did my absolute best with these. Every single piece of music, right down to minor musical cues,in the best quality I could provide, edited manually,by ear and trial-and-error. I call these three - MKDA,MKD and MKA - the OMEGA series. And now,I'm happy to share them with you.

If you have any comments, questions or suggestions concerning my rip,my AIM nickname is sladetheraptor.

I'm pretty much always online,so if you want to,drop me a couple of lines.
Feedback is very much appreciated. =)

If you notice anything wrong with the rip (noises that shouldn't be there, stutterings, sudden drops in sound quality, even typos),no matter how minor or insignificant, let me know right away so that I can fix it.
Likewise,if you manage to identify any of the unknown tracks, let me know right away.

But this thread isn't about me. It's about the music. And I got so much more goodies to share.

An online acquaintance of mine did a definitive Mortal Kombat Mythologies rip, saving me weeks worth of work. I'll be uploading that as well.

And for the fans of the Sega Genesis sound,I'm proud to share the rips of the Genesis versions of MK1,MK2 and MK3,which were adapted to the Genesis format by one of my favorite composers of all time,Matt Furniss, who did an astounding job.

Fans of the classic MKs should've undoubtedly noticed that some tracks are missing from the official MK2+1 and MK3+4 soundtracks. Worry not,I got those too.

And now that I'm done with the OMEGA series, the only two MK games left to rip are Shaolin Monks and Special Forces (lol). So be on the lookout for those.

Finally,I got the official movie soundtracks,MK the Album and the official videogame OSTs,among other things. So pretty much every single official MK OST release, with the exception of the MK: Conquest Sampler and the MK: The Journey Begins Promo Disc. I'm not sure the mods will allow those, but in my defense, consider the sole fact that every single one of those soundtracks is currently out of print.

So without further ado, let's kick things off with the MORTAL KOMBAT DEADLY ALLIANCE soundtrack rip, shall we?
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UCAJG0IQ
THINGS OF NOTE:

TRACK #29 - ENDING 2
Even though dmkf managed to rip this directly from the code, the version I have ends before it gets to the part where I can loop it,which is why it's so short.
Sorry about that.

TRACK #30 - DRAHMIN'S ENDING
If you listen closely, you'll recognize that this track is actually a complete version of TRACK 07 - BATTLE PLAN.
Unfortunately,I am unable to rip the clear track (narration removed and everything) directly from the game itself.

TRACK #31 - REPTILE'S ENDING
TRACK #32 - SCORPION'S ENDING
TRACK #33 - SHANG TSUNG'S ENDING
Again,I don't have clean versions of these tracks, which I why I had to include the the incomplete ones with narration over them.
Each of these tracks is also featured in other characters' ending.
The reason I chose those particular ones is because they are the longest and, therefore, provide a more complete representation of the track in question.

TRACK #35 - TEST YOUR SIGHT
Again,I don't have direct rips,so I had to make due with what I recorded myself.
The problem is,even the longest TYS trial available,LV MAX,ends before the track is able to loop even once, hence why it's so short.

If any rippers out there would like to contribute by ripping these tracks,I would be immensely grateful.

TRACK #41 - KRYPT AMBIENCE
A collection of all of the various spooky noises that play in the background of the Krypt. That's just a little something I though would be fun to do.
Not sure if I got all of them, but whatever.

TRACK #43 - E3 2001 TEASER TRAILER
TRACK #44 - TRAILER 2
As indicated, these are the tracks featured in the MKDA trailers. Sorry for the shitty quality - the videos I had to rip them from were pretty low quality.

TRACK #45 - IMMORTAL
A song by the group Adema that was used to promote MKDA. Just a little bonus I decided to throw in for completion's sake.

More on the way.

MORTAL KOMBAT DECEPTION Soundtrack Rip:

THE RUNDOWN:

DISC 1 - BATTLE ARENAS
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HX7HRBH8
The heart of the soundtrack. These are the tracks that play during one-on-one fighting in Arcade Mode.
I was a bit reluctant to include the Dead Pool,Living Forest and the Portal tracks, since they were taken directly from MK2 with no changes whatsoever (as opposed to the MKD's version of the Courtyard, which has been remastered),but I decided to rip them anyway for completion's sake.

DISC 2 - KONQUEST
http://rapidshare.com/files/141461925/Disc_2_-_Konquest.rar.html
You'll find various music from Konquest mode in here, inluding the ambient background tracks and the tracks that play during the training sequences.

THINGS OF NOTE:

TRACKS MARKED WITH (****'S TRAINING)
Every single one of these is played on more than occasion, usually in different characters' training missions.
So to differentiate them and not just calling each one Training 1,Training 2,etc.,I tried giving them unique names.
That name is usually related to the first character whose training mode features that track.

TRACK 21 - THE QUEST IS OVER
TRACK 22 - BETRAYED
TRACK 23 - SHUJINKO'S OATH
These tracks play during the final cutscene of the Konquest. I hushed down the voices as much as I could, but I think you can still hear them on the background when the music falls quiet for a moment.
The reason for that is that even if turn the voices and sounds all the way down in the options, they don't disappear completely, but instead just become really quiet.
Sorry about that.

DISC 3 - MINI-GAMES
http://rapidshare.com/files/141446651/Disc_3_-_Mini-Games.rar.html
This one includes the tracks from Chess Kombat and Puzzle Kombat modes.

DISC 4 - BONUS - SHAO KAHN'S TREASURE CHEST
http://rapidshare.com/files/141447397/Disc_4_-_Bonus_-_Shao_Kahn_s_Treasure_Chest.rar.html
Here, you will find miscellaneous tracks that don't fit anywhere else. Tracks from menus, for example.

THINGS OF NOTE:

TRACKS 20 - 25 (ENDINGS)
These are the recordings of some of the character endings from the Arcade mode. These particular endings have unique music not featured anywhere else in the game.
Unfortunately, most of these end abruptly (the endings are only about 40-50 seconds each, after all) and feature the narrator's voice on the background, since I've found no way to get rid of it.
A lot of the endings share music.
For example, the track labeled as "Liu Kang Ending" also plays during,I believe,Tanya's ending. The reason I chose this particular one is because it's the longer one and therefore, represents a more complete version of the track.

TRACKS 26 - 28 (UNKNOWN)
These were found among the data dmkf ripped directly from the code.
I wasn't able to identify them,so I marked them as unknown.

MORTAL KOMBAT ARMAGEDDON Soundtrack Rip:
THE RUNDOWN:

DISC 1 - BATTLE ARENAS
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=N32AAZB2
The heart of the soundtrack. These are the tracks that play during one-on-one fighting in the Arcade Mode.
I was a bit reluctant to include the Nethership,Hell's Foundry, the Sky Temple and the Falling Cliffs tracks, since they really belong in a Deception soundtrack rip,but I decided to rip them anyway for completion's sake.

DISC 2 - KONQUEST
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=W06M6FP2
You'll find the background music from Konquest mode in here.
Tracks 22,23 and 24 really belong on the Miscellaneous disc. The reason for that is that I haven't actually heard these tracks featured in the actual Konquest mode. These were found by dmkf when he ripped a bunch of sound data from the game's code. They are, however, variations of some of the Konquest tracks, and as such, are placed here.
A little note about "Reptile variations" - the reason I named them that way is because of that distinct use of flutes. Throughout the series, the tracks featuring those flutes are usually the Living Forest tracks, which most of the time happens to Reptile's turf. Hence the name.

DISC 3 - MOTOR KOMBAT
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4MMRRJQ1
Pretty self-explanatory.

DISC 4 - BONUS - SHAO KAHN'S TREASURE CHEST
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CWSW9U6T
Ah,the most meaty and delicious part of this rip. =)
This is the reason why this rip took so long to make.
Now this requires a bit of an explanation.
Here, you will find miscellaneous tracks that don't fit anywhere else. Tracks from menus,Kreate-a-Fighter mode and others.
But that's not all!

You will also find some completely new tracks, previously unheard before. A lot of these were found pretty much by accident while ripping the sound data directly from the code.

Quite a big portion of this disc is devoted to unique tracks featured in the Konquest mode cutscenes. In particular, tracks 12 through 47 are all from Konquest. As I mentioned before, there is no way to eliminate the sound effects and the voices during the cutscenes without muting the music along with them. There was an option of significantly reducing the voices to a near hiss, but the few people I talked to about this seemed to have decided against this solution. Therefore,I decided to record them as is. You can still hear the music despite the voices.

I also included recordings of some of the character endings from the Arcade mode. These particular endings also have unique music. Some of them feature cleaner samples of tracks from the Konquest cutscenes. Unfortunately, most of these end abruptly (the endings are only about 40-50 seconds each, after all) and feature the narrator's voice on the background, since I've found no way to get rid of it.
A lot of the endings share music.
For example, the track labeled as "KAF Ending" also plays during Havik's and Mokap's endings. The reason I chose this particular one is because it's the longest of the three and therefore, represents a more complete version of the track.

Finally,I've also included the recordings of some of the character Bio Cards from the MKA Special Edition Disc. Again, there was no way to get rid of all the sounds and voices, but you can still hear the unique tracks used as background music. Many of the Bio Cards feature music taken from Deception and other games in the series. I have tried to exclude those and only leave the ones that have the music unique to Armageddon.

All excellent work Rex.

For the MK1 rip, I didn't remember the "unknown" track, so that's an absolute plus for me. And I forgot all about the Test Your Might music til I opened up the file. I was like .

For the MK2 rip, a couple of them I had to re-remember, but the unknown tracks really got me going. HA! I'm sitting here like, wtf is Unknown (sound code 6B)? I don't remember anything like that being in there ever. Maybe it was a joke they were playing or something? Idk, but it was hilarious nonetheless.

So far I also have the MK3 and MKDA downloaded, and I think a part of the MKA stuff too. Right when I find an excuse to use any of it I will. Oh, and here's that MKast Question Filter thing I was talking about. Finished a few days ago and uploaded it.

1. Me. (scroll down, and look for the red counter to turn into the link) [[[ took me something like 22-23min to get through all the questions people had. Limited resources had me loop a couple of the tracks.]]]
2. The thread.

As you can probably tell, I'm really happy to finally be done with some of the shitty rips. That'll be the last time I'm heard over stuff like that since this thread is now here.

Question: I remember pretty much skipping over MK3 and mainly playing UMK3, and alot of MKT on PS1. Do you have those archived, or can you hook those up?

Well,as far as I remember, neither UMK3 nor MKT had any original music - all of the tracks are recycled from MK3. Now,there is an official MK3(+4) Musik OST,but it's missing a couple of tracks, and a lot of secondary tracks like Choose Your Destiny and Select Your Character are mashed together in a,well,"Mish-Mash". Forden seems to be very fond of doing those for some reason. I have both the missing tracks and those secondary ones as separate tracks. I'll try to upload everything MK3 and MK4 tomorrow. And I love what you're doing with your question compilations. I mean,Hans and Hector thanked you personally for helping them out. That's quite the recognition. Keep up the good job! =)

Thanks again, Downloading a couple more right now.

Oh crap! I forgot all about this guy.

I almost never actually log on to my account there, so I totally forgot about him.

===========
EDIT:

YES! That's what I wanted. I guess I was asking for the Arcade OST
Once again, you invoke the - grin
==========================================

EDIT 9/7/08 - download log:

Got all 15 now!

grin

I think my favorites are MK1, MK2 MK3-4 Arcade, and MKD OSTs. Of course there's the off track every now and then (like both the Krypt tracks, or specific arenas per w/e game it is) but, I'm pretty sure I keep going into those folders more than the other ones right now.

Anyway, thanks a million again. So glad I finally ran into you. It's like now, I gotta remember what I wanted to use MK music for again, back when I didn't have it. Cuz I know there was a thread or two where I would have used music for.....just out of sheer frivolousness (lol) y'know?

===============Also=======================

I noticed that the games people commonly say they like more, have the better music in them (iMo). Like, MKD's music feels more...mm...more like "badass" than say...MKA. While on the other hand, the first 3 earliest games' music is pretty much littered with that same type of feel. As opposed to the latest 3. It's like the music is "dark", but it's very exciting music at the same time in MK1-3 & MKD, and not so much in the other games. But whatever...

Wonder if we // I could communicate that to the MKTeam....hm.

So yea, keep up the good work man, and I can't wait for the MKSM stuff! (Didn't you say you'd be getting the MKSM stuff in the future sometime? Or was that just me reading you wrong?)

I didn't like the MKD soundtrack that much when I first heard it,but the more I got into ripping, the more I started to appreciate it. It was Forden's major foray into symphonic and heavily atmospheric, ambient tracks. A lot of those use surprisingly unique instruments (Erhu and Koto? FUCK YEAH) that enhance that dark ethnic feel that made the original MK games famous for their music.
On the other hand,MKDA feels more melodic, catchy and fresh. I'd say it's still my favorite soundtrack among the new generation MKs. Hell,it's easily my favorite MK game in the series,so I'm biased.

As for Armageddon,it's hard to say without knowing who was responsible for which track specifically, but it seems like a lion's share of the new tracks were created by the newcomer,Jim Bonney. As far as I can say,Forden himself wasn't involved as much. Personally,I liked Bonney's stuff a lot,but those of you who didn't were probably expecting more Forden. Which is understandable.

One day,I want to write him a letter and find these things out. smile

Oh,I'll definitely get to it,it's just that I'm so worn out from the massive ripping binge I was on that I'm taking a small rest before getting the ball rolling on Shaolin Monks. I mean, the OMEGA series rips (MKDA,MKD and MKA)? Yeah, before that I had a bunch of raw unsorted recordings that I worked on a bit once every blue moon and other people's rips, but as far as finally getting my shit together and wrapping it all up,all three of these were finalized during the course of this summer, and MKDA and MKD were released within two weeks of one another,so I was totally drained. At the moment,I'm ripping an occasional track here and there, but I haven't started on MKSM yet. In a week or so,maybe.

In the meantime,I have more stuff to upload. In particular, the original MK1 arcade soundtrack. There is an official MK2+1 OST,but for some reason all of the MK1 tracks are in horrendous quality. I do,however, have a copy of MK for the Sega CD,which has CD-quality rebook sound,so once I'm doing editing those,I'll upload them along with the OST. I actually might need your help identifying the tracks, since I mostly grew up on the Genesis version, and a lot of the arcade tracks are quite different from that.

After that, there's the Mythologies rip done by an acquaintance of mine. And I haven't even touched the movie OSTs,so don't worry, there's more goodies to share. =)

MORTAL KOMBAT II • MUSIC FROM THE ARCADE GAME SOUNDTRACK:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=67MZW6L5

This is the second of the two official MK game soundtracks in existence.

Tracks 1-10 are from MK2. It appears that some tracks, like the Story Demo track, are missing. In addition to that, some tracks are actually several tracks mashed into one, like Forden seems to be fond of doing. Personally,I prefer my tracks as separate files. I guess I can chop them up or something, but eh...

Tracks 11-18 are from MK1. Everything I wrote for the MKII portion of the OST applies to this one as well. Moreover, the overall quality of the sound for some reason seems to be terrible, which is a goddamn shame.

MORTAL KOMBAT CD:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=T4FBLK2U

This is the Redbook recording of the tracks from the Sega CD port of MK1. Oh man, where do I even begin with this one...
Well,the tracks are in CD-quality,so that's a plus.
On the other hand, out of the 7 or so standard Battle Arena tracks present in the original game this port for some inexplicable reason only features four of them - The Courtyard,The Pit,Throne Room and track that plays when you fight Goro (I think). Considering that this is a CD-based game, there's just no excuse for that. Whoever ported it has no fucking excuse. Oh,and they're played in a completely random order, too.
A bunch of other tracks might be missing too. Maybe it's just me,but it seems like the little sound cues that play when you finish the round, finish the match or knock the opponent into a Finish Him! animation are actually supposed to be the ending segments of those missing arena tracks. If that's the case, then it's just lazy as fuck.
Also, the game features a bunch of renditions of the original Mortal Kombat mix by The Immortals, but it's nothing new (all of those mixes were released on a single which I might upload later). I didn't include those.

So yeah,I've yet to find a definitive rip of the original arcade MK1 and MK2,as I can't rip them on my own, what with not being able to eliminate all those random sounds or at least turn off the fucking timer goddamn. I've seen a couple of clean ones over the years that seemed to have included some of the tracks that were missing or mashed together in the original, but the quality was unsatisfactory for those.

I'll keep looking,I guess. In the meantime, that's the best I can provide.

Oh lawd,this.
To be completely honest,I have no fucking clue what it is.
It seems to be a compilation of songs similar to the ones on the movie OSTs. It also doesn't seem to be official,so I'm guessing its either a pirate or some sort a fan-made doujin "Inspired By" CD. The only places that this thing could even be found at are Russian music sites, for some reason.
Finally,it's also not very good, but nevertheless, here it is.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=REHJXK9K

Now,as far as new rips are concerned, things haven't been going so well at home,so I had to put the projects I was working on on hold for the time being. Sorry, guys.
Here's the rundown:

SHAOLIN MONKS - Started doing it,but stopped for now. Some guy over at the Galbadia hotel forums uploaded a new rip, though. I'll have to check if it's legit. If it's near Metzgermeister's level,I won't have to rip SM after all. =)

SPECIAL FORCES - Yes,I do intend to eventually play it and rip the music. Wish me luck.

MKVSDC - Sorry, this is the one thing I won't be able to help you with. I bought the game without actually having the console to play it on. So unless I can convince one of my friends to lend me their 360 for like two weeks,I won't be to rip it anytime soon.

In the meantime, though,I wanted to do my own rip of the original arcade MK1 and MK2,since the official OST is not exactly up to par. But for some reason the tracks ripped directly from the roms sound considerably slower than they should during the playback,so what I have to do is speed them up artificially and then lower the pitch back down to normal levels. So yeah, hopefully I'll get around to finishing that.

Oh,there's also another guy at the Galbadia forums who made a direct (not an in-line,like mine) rip of MKDA. He posted the first batch of tracks for now,and while I consider my versions to be generally superior,he managed to get some tracks I physically couldn't,like the looped version of the Test Your Sight theme. If he ever finishes the rip,I'll have to release an update to my MKDA rip. =)

Enjoy. And let me know if any other links are down.

OSHI,almost forgot.

THE IMMORTALS - MORTAL KOMBAT CD SINGLE:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=363LP93D

This little number includes all the various versions of the timeless Mortal Kombat theme we all know and love.
There seem to be two versions of this album floating around. The first, the more common one,has five tracks. However, the complete album consists of eight tracks. The last three are for some reason usually omitted. The one I uploaded is,of course, the complete 8-track one. It was a bitch to find, too. Had to leech it off of some half-dead torrent, all the while praying that the one guy kind enough to seed this wasn't going to close the connection on me. Well, thank god he didn't. =) So here it is.

You know what? I've been looking for the Mortal Kombat: Annihilation Soundtrack fo a long time now. Now that I'm here, I wonder to myself "Why did I not think to come here first?" And every time I think that, I can't help but laugh at myself. Thanks for this post dude. I appreciate this. I owe you one. wink
