It is cool to see these costumes with today's technological advances and everything, but there was a time and place for them and it was 1993 and 1995. The 2011 Jade and Kitana costumes look so much better, especially Kitana's alternate.

Actually, I think the MK3 ninja girl outfits have managed to hold up extremely well. I prefer Kitana in her classic MK3 outfit than her primary or her alt.

But yeah, the MK2 outfits do seem a bit dated.

I think people should relax a little. My guess is they will work on classics for other characters and release them as "Klassic Costume pack 2" and so forth. Releasing maybe 7 costumes again for $5. For now, whatever they include as a bonus whether you buy the new character they come with or not, is just icing on the cake. They will probably do theme packs like MK2 and MK3. I really can't see them not releasing more costume packs, so for now, whatever two they give out as freebies are more then enough. I'm just thrilled they even give us costumes for free at all.

KItana looks shitty in MK9. So does Jade's alternate.

I am among the biggest supporters of these outfits,
yet I find myself slightly underwhelmed.

They look very good, but they don't seem as "accurate" as the UMK3 outfits.

It'd help if the colors were a bit more saturated (and yes, if they had gotten Jade's skin and hair color right).


I like them, but I don't *love* them. Maybe I had my expectations too high?

I think years of hyper-stylizing and sexualizing them in media and comics has made the originals a tad overhyped, but I still think it's their best look.



Though I do wish they'd make Jade darker skinned again.

The MK2 Princess is back!
I absolutely love these retro MK2 female costumes, no complains from me.
The joy we all feel about them definitely out weights the "anger" some are feeling, so great job NRS!

The MK3/UMK3 costumes are much better... They seem to fit better than these. Don't get me wrong, I loved MK2 just as much as the next fan, but that looks better for the male ninjas. The MK2 Smoke alternate is awesome. These, not so much.

I'm really not sure why some fans here are clamoring for a Stryker retro costume. I'm genuinely curious. His primary costume is pretty much his classic look just improved.

Kitana, Jade, and Mileena had two distinct klassic looks--mk2 and umk3. So it makes sense that they got retros over Stryker.

Plus you can palette swap them between four differnent characters, and they're free.

Same for the male ninjas. They all have unique looks from the 3d games, and they have at least two different klassic looks between mk1 and umk3. I'm personally thrilled that NRS granted my wish and even broke it down further and gave us mk2 costumes for them as well.

Again, they are free and work for seven different characters.

The cyber ninja costumes were a new model that only work for two characters (hopefully Smoke as well), and were free.

I also just do not understand why some fans are saying Mileena shouldn't get any more costumes because she already has four. The fifth would be a palette swap FREE BONUS. C'mon people.

Some characters have more alternate looks than others and are simply more popular--the male and female ninjas. They're also easy because you create on costume and you can palette swap it for multiple characters.

I don't want a retro mk3 costume for Stryker (because he already has it in his mk9 default look), but I'd take his mka costume happily.

I also want a DLC costume for Sonya, Quan Chi, Shang Tsung, and I'd take a mk1 Raiden. I'll take klassic costumes or MK vs DC costumes (Sonya, baby!)

But seriously, these are free. There's no reason to complain and we're getting brand new DLC characters for a Mortal Kombat game.

Yea but that does not make them good no matter what. The costumes suck but since they are free I guess I will take them. It's not like they will take up that much space on my 250gb HD but I would much rather have free costumes that I would actually want to use.

The costumes look OK, I guess. They are not ugly, but, like others users said, they do look a but bland and simplistic. It makes sense though, since they are a carbon-copy of the originals, which is something I like. I guess they will grow on me. :)

I'm still madly waiting for MK Sonya!! I know they'll create a skin for her, and as others said, probably with a price. I don't mind paying, I just don't want to wait until September for it!!! :(

Next Freebies will be Mileena and Cyber-Smoke. Models already exist, it's a matter of changing colours!

If the fourth DLC comes from another franchise, then it'll be Ermac and Reptile, in order for people to want and purchase a foreign character, don't you think?

These really don't spark any interest from me, but I can't expect to like everything they offer. Seeing as they're free, I don't see how anyone can rightfully complain. It's also obvious that the free costumes they put out, are just gonna be palette swaps of each other, so anybody who was actually thinking they would be seperate designs (Sub and Sonya), you got your hopes up for nothing.

I think it's pretty safe to say the final 2 costumes will be UMK 3 ninja attires, 1 being Reptile and the other being 1 of these 3 not featured in the free costumes packs so far: Sub-Zero, Scorpion, or Ermac. I doubt they would highlight Smoke or Noob due to them already receiving their MK2 spotlight, and Rain is a DLC character so I doubt they would offer something not everyone can benefit from.

Either way, the other palette swaps for the other ninjas etc. that are left out will likely be included in a DLC Costumes Pack #2, with maybe another couple classic Fatalities to go along with it. I could see it including:

*Assuming the free UMK3 ones are for Sub-Zero and Scorpion*
MK2 Scorpion
MK2 Sub-Zero
MK2 Reptile
MK2 Mileena
UMK3 Reptile

That looks pretty likely to me.

I would love to see some unique classics for other characters such as Kano, Unmasked Sub, Raiden, Sonya etc. but it's unlikely at this point. I don't think it's a huge deal though, I am sure they are gonna want all focus to be on the next game, so that's why I am expecting the 4th DLC character and 2nd outfit pack to be the final DLC for the game. Understandable, and even though it's mostly palette swaps, they still offered quite a bit of content for a pretty good price(in comparison with Capcom's highway robbery).

I have to agree that, as good as the MK2 ones were back in the day, they do seem somewhat lacking by comparison. That doesn't mean they should try and add details to make it better.

I'm happy that NRS is giving away so much in the way of free costumes. A little pissed that the UMK3 weren't, as they're the ones I liked the most. But i'll get over it.

That said, it's nice to get something for nothing that adds some variety to the game.

Not a fan of seeing the MK1/3 Sonya back either. They were fine back then, but now would look totally out of place. Really, think about it - Lt Sonya Blade, a military officer, fighting in a green leotard!!

I'd rather her get something MKDA/DCU style, or even something completely different.
