Hmm...if they do make rain, reptile or maybe kintaro then I'll seriously consider it.

Pretty standard prince for sculpts like these.

I'd rather pay more for quality sculpting and painting than cheap ugly looking ones.

You seem pretty knowledgeable about statuette/collectibles Jax007 so maybe you could answer this hypothetical question. Let's say that I decide to purchase the 18" Premium Badass Sub Zero statuette, would it actually appreciate in value over time? While realizing that it's hard to predict, is there any way to estimate how much it would appreciate?

I'm just worried if I shell out the cash for the Premium Statue that it'd only appreciate like $5 from the retail price in 5 years.

But, "not-as-expensive" does not necessarily equal "cheap ugly looking ones".

I've seen gorgeous work out there that's definitely a lot less expensive than that.

I understand what you mean, but, your post reminded me of the people who think that you can only have "good, tasty, delicious, and worthy food" if you are paying a very expensive price for it in a upper-class restaurant.

This is false.

You can have delicious, satisfying, memorable high quality food for accessible prices.

Not an attack or anything, just an observation.

Hey, Im definitely not one of those. I just find 165$ (132$ with discount) very standard for a statues like these, if I compare to most other sculpts of similar quality.

Considering the very limitted amount and rarety of Mortal Kombat sculpts, Id say yes!

True. And I know you are not, smile, it was just an example.

You have to admit that it gets a little more tricky than that when some of those statues are also priced around $300. Or when you consider buying more than just 1 or 2 of the $165 creations.

I'm definitely not complaining, though, because I've been dreaming for this since forever. I've always been disappointed about the very little merchandize (and even less in HQ) related to MK (infinite concepts being one of the rarest greatest mk projects).

I just think we would all benefit (them included) for a more accessible range of prices. They don't need to be super rare, exclusive, limited editions to truly be worth it, imo.

Overall: I'm super excited and happy about these statues and I'll definitely save up for a few.

Keep dunking your Kenshi breadsticks into your Skarlet sauce, people! The main course isn't coming for a while, and you never know when it's going to be disappointing.

I feel bad for some people. I like all these characters, but if I'm going to save up for any, it's going to be Stryker (if he comes). I love majority of this cast, but i have no interest in getting a statue of anyone else.

That's kind of how I see the price. Do you love this character well enough to have a statue in your room (or wherever you put it) of said character? I only have one of those characters, and I've been a fan of this series since the beginning.

If I got a second or third, maybe Reptile or Cyber Sub-Zero. I'd feel a bit uncomfortable having a Kitana or Mileena in my room, as people would get the wrong idea. If Sareena were in this game and a possible figure, I'd go out of my way to get her, embarrassment or not.

I'm going to grab as many of these as I can reasonably afford.
The Sub-Zero statue is awsome!

Anyone else having problems with the order page? I'm in the USA and I select "USA" for country, but then for province/state it won't bring up the list of USA states, only provinces for other countries. Needless to say I can't complete the order form, anyone else have this issue, and if so how did you fix it? Thanks in advance for any help.

?

What wrong idea? What sort of embarrassment are you talking about?

These are gorgeous looking collectible items. I doubt anyone would get the "wrong idea" unless you have little kids in your room who might be too immature/young to understand the difference between a collectable statue and a "girls toy"......or, you could also have a very dark secret/history (jk smile).

I understand this feeling.

That is exactly why I'm planning to save my money for the big ones that I know I'd love to have. Not only for my top favorites (Sonya, Johnny, Mileena, Sindel...), but, also for those rare choices that have never truly gotten anything (ever) in regards to action figures, toys, merchandize, etc (like Shao Khan, Kenshi, Stryker, Nightwolf, etc).

Still, those do feel like too many (expensive) names. I really want to support Syco to the fullest, but, I doubt I'll be able to get many of these figures if they remain priced like this. sad

How much time will be between Sub-Zero/Scorpion and Raiden? To go further, how much time between Raiden and Liu Kang? I'm considering investing in the line completely if I can keep up with the rate at which they are produced. If it's gonna be one every month I know I'll never make it, but every 2 months I could probably swing.

As much as I love Mortal Kombat, I have similar sentiments and it's a shame because I remember the Dragonball Z action figures and collectible statutes that were of pretty good quality for 15-20 bucks (the statutes were sometimes 30-50, but rarely), they didn't look cheap and the details were pretty spot on to their original looks. I still have some of those in their boxes.

$165.00+ is out of my price range, I would love a Stryker, Sonya, Sheeva or Ermac one, but that's not going to happen.

I really don't care how detailed these things are, or how "limited" they are...the price is a crock. Yeah, I know it's pretty much the industry standard for this kind of stuff, but if people didn't jizz in their pants for this stuff and shell out the money for it, companies wouldn't charge that much to begin with.

And trust me, I have the money to throw out for these things, but I just don't see how on earth they're worth it...

You aren't obligated to make any purchases. But ardent MK fans see this as impressive collectibles to add to their MK collections. What is it with these that doesn't appeal to you, bar the price tag?

Don't get me wrong, it's definitely a nice gesture that the company is offering MKO a discount and seems to be reaching out to the community. At the same time though with price tags that steep, it's really only feasible to a select niche who have a bit of a disposable income. So saying it's for the "ardent" fans is a bit of a misnomer. I know personally I would love to pick up several of these "10 statuettes if they were available at $50 – $75 a pop and I don't even collect these sort of things.

No way I can justify dropping $132 for more than one "10 (if at all) and forget about the $240/$160 for the Premium Statue/Bust. It’s frustrating as a fan.

I completely agree with Mojo6, these are not just for "ardent" fans by any means, they are for fans with extra disposable income, and no sense or care for value. In my opinion the bookend statues that came packed with the US Kollector's Edition MK9 game are just as well sculpted as these new statues, and those together cost less than $40, effectively. I consider myself an "ardent" fan of MK as I have collected all the toys, comics, cards etc over the years, but unfortunately the prices of these statues just doesn't sit well with me, or with plenty of others apparently. This is not an attack on anyone nor the company making these, but they really should have gone with targeting the broader MK fanbase, who can afford much lower priced items more easily. Sure some fans may buy one or two, but for completionists like me, it simply won't be possible to have them all, therefore I will likely have none.

Statues are always expensive. Atleast they don't have the Sideshow Pricing. They're closer to $300, granted they are bigger. Think about how much they'll be worth, not how much you have to spend. Believe me, these statues will go up in value. Especially if you get a very rare or odd character. And if you can't afford it, ebay something!

Valid points. What this roughly translates to, at least for me, is to make one purchase for the most modestly priced item instead of multiple purchases. Seeing as how I want to support the MKO community here and take advantage of the rare opportunity in designing a custom statuette, that will have to be my only purchase. Given that the MKO design isn't insanely expensive.

So my idea of buying *all* the Rain statues and controlling their value is indeed valid... MWAHAHAHA!!! grin

Pretty much what mojo said. I think they look great, but no 10" statue is worth that much to me. It's a matter of personal preference. If they were cheaper (and I mean waayyy cheaper), I'd pick up a few of them.
