That's their true forms.

But just like Raiden and Fujin,they can choose to appear human.

- The vignette itself is good...meaning, I'm happy with the information we get from it. I love how they've given Raiden credit for Mortal Kombat. Absolutely love it because, it's the sort of shit I believe he really should be responsible for. They've given weight (and designs) to the FIVE Elder Gods, and those meetings Raiden mysteriously has with them.

Other than that, it is an introduction for him into Mortal Kombat 1. I would even argue pre-MK1 since they're still saying he's still trying to find a champ.

- His gameplay looks fine, but different. His X-ray looks DOPE, and it's fitting. Although, I don't like the exit to his X-Ray. Which just seems like a regurgitation of the Jokers bomb animation from MKvsDC. It's small, but it's something I don't like. To make that better, I'd have them make the electricity actually arcing over to electrocute his opponents head, right before a small explosion. done.

I like the way his teleport looks, but I still prefer that as he's teleporting, they white out the "blink" in that animation like back in MK1-2 a bit more. It is fast enough, and he regenerates closely enough to what it looked like back then though, so that's cool.

I don't know if I like that little combo in the corner so much, it seemed like it slowed the action down, even though it was a quick combo that I'll probably appreciate better once I play it. BUT, I am ecstatic about the end of it, where he electrocutes your face before shooting you away! That is so sick...!

The other thing about that little combo, is that he shoots you away instead of it looking like he electrocutes you and you fly back from the power of his electricity. If they could have implemented more of those little "face electrocution" instances across the board, this would be alot better.

I REALY hope they put his Lightning Shock move back in. The one where he grabs you by the collar from MKvsDC. That's such a bad ass move, it's gotta be in.

- The bad shit is obvious:

*His intro is corny as hell. Did he really say "Thunder Takes You!"? Look, I understand he's a good guy and all but...WHAT?! Gimme something more authoritative man... Your fate will be determined here... uhhm... "You shall not pass!" .... aaah fuck ... "Your stay on EarthRealm has expired!" or a nod to his MK1 ending could be something like "This should be entertaining" while he does his little readying mojo.

Overall it was a good vignette but, it is alot more bland than I expected. Presentation suffers for Raiden here so, I'll wait to see more gameplay from him.

I was always under the impression that they could take on human forms/avatars like the Hindu gods and goddesses.

I'm still happy for what Raiden has got going in this game. I am really happy that the teleport move is staying, I knew that they weren't going to mess with that move, I just don't ever want it to go away.

His appearance is something to like, I've never hated his appearance even though I really loved his DA secondary look.

I am really looking forward on playing the heck out of this character right next to Shang Tsung, Sub-Zero, Stryker, Sindel, Mileena and Jade.

It's because they don't do anything with Baraka to make him even remotely interesting to watch. He's really done nothing in the series unlike what they did to Kang. I'm not saying they need to turn Baraka into a zombie, but they need to put more creativity with this character and his reasons for his appearance in this game.



Yes, Sheeva is evil due to Sindel still being under control of Kahn's power. And since she is under his power, she is evil. Kahn also handpicked Sheeva to protect Sindel even though he has more of a respect towards Motaro and such. Sheeva though, I find as a neutral character come towards her ending.

But in this case, she is evil for the most part.



Speak for yourself. Not everyone hates a lot of characters in this game like you do. A lot of Raiden fans are on this site, to them, this vignette was awesome. If it looks like crap to you, then it's crap, but don't ask why everyone is excited about this.

Yea, in true Raiden form, the fatality is a bit on the wack side. I'm not surprised, but i am a little disappointed that they couldn't come up with something more creative for him. So, in this instance, an explosion might have been much much better. That or, the crumbling effect of his MK1 SNES fatality. *wind blows the dust away*

As we discussed in the old thread, I'm very disappointed they gave her that ugly mohawk and that hideous horseface again. I mean, they actually made me like STRYKER. Why couldn't they have done as good by Sheeva?

I hope his projectile isn't a stupid lightning ball again, that makes 0 sense, a ball? it should be like MK2 where he shoots a couple of bolts across the screen. Raiden is my all time favorite so I'm kind of torn on what I saw here, some stuff looked great but that fatality looks crappy to me, they need to get more ambitious and quit thinking about how many times they can hit the same cut points with different characters.

A vignette isn't supposed to show you how good Raiden is like in the game, they don't show what he really can do when you have the controller in the hands. They're just showing bits and pieces of what he can do in this game by showing off the moves, a combo, and an x-ray. There are still a lot of stuff missing from this character in-game that we have yet to see. So your disappointment in this video is still humorous.

Icebaby, you don't understand. I know the video isn't about Sheeva, or made to make me love her, but this is our first glimpse of her, so you certainly can form an impression, unless you're blind. She looks. like. crap. I know you want to see some ugly women in the game to be more representative of real life or something, but I don't. That's my opinion.

I know, I don't know how she plays, I don't know how she moves. I don't really care. I'm basing this one hundred percent on her looks. They had a chance to make her look better than MK3 or MKA, and unless she looks totally different from what is shown here, which I doubt, they didn't do that. Therefore, I don't like her look. Does that make sense to you?

Regarding Raiden, unless his fatality is something totally different than what is shown here, which I'm sure it isn't, it is a disappointment. No amount of gameplay footage is going to change that. They made his fatality 4 cut points. What else is there to say?

His X-ray is fair, but it's not something we haven't seen from just about every other character in the game. He has the power of f***ing lightning. Couldn't they have somehow incorporated that into the x-ray, instead of him just doing strikes, something even Johnny Cage could do? I'm not as annoyed by that, but I do feel let down.

I'm usually always pleased and excited with what I see, but for the first time, I am actually "meh" to this video. I guess I just expected more from Raiden. Every character in this game has looked better, more interesting, and more fun to play as than ever before. Yet with Raiden, it just seems like...same old Raiden.

With that said, I am still happy with his chaacter, but he just doesn't excite me as much as many others so far. I like his looks, I like the way he plays, but I wasn't "wowed" by him like most others have. Many other characters took steps forward to make them better all around, but Raiden just seems like the same Raiden from MKvsDC for the most part. It's a shame, because the initial Raiden from the trailer looked great. He was taller, thinner, and sleeker, yet this just seems like the same one we saw in previous games.

It's not a bad thing, but it's not like he went above and beyond my expectations either. Liu Kang, Stryker, Ermac, Noob Saibot, Kano, Sektor, Cyrax, Johnny Cage, and Jax for example, have never looked better imo, and all have amazed me with their improvements. I expect the same from Baraka, Kabal, and Smoke. Raiden on the other hand, just doesn't have that factor. His X-Ray doesn't seem as creative as it could be, given his electricity abilities. His fatality is just another limb removal decapitation type fatality, instead of exploding his victim or turning them into ash. It's this kind of repetitiveness in fatalities, that makes me think they said "What can we think of that's brutal and uses all our cut points" rather than sitting around throwing out actual creative unique ideas on what each character can do with their powers. He just seems kind of dull in comparison to what he could be.

However, I know this is very likely old footage, as you can tell with the graphic quality and some bugs etc. like Baraka's skull turning into human. It's likely that this was made months ago, and Raiden has been greatly improved since. At this point, Raiden is just Raiden to me, nothing more and nothing less. I like Raiden, he's super fun to play as, and I have always liked his character, but he just doesn't have that improvement "wow" factor most other characters have had on me. So he isn't bad, but he just isn't amazing either.

That's about how I feel... seems fair.

Besides the fact that this is Raiden vignette, and I'm a Raiden fan, I don't see what the big rave is about Sheeva. It's....Sheeva.
