Yeah...kind of disappointed about that.

I didn't like Quan Chi very much in his early introduction to the series... but he's grown on me, and I think he is a very strong character and bad guy. That's actually saying a lot, because Shang, and Khan are pretty good bad guys too, so for him not to come off lame is a pretty big compliment.

Quan Chi has the potential to become a really awesome character... but he has yet to actually become that. His storyline is quite nice, but his looks should be freakier, darker and more goth-like and his special moves should include more of his necromantic powers.
I would like him to look something like this:

Thanks!!! Not too bad for an hour's work, eh? Also, why do you assume that Younger Subbie becomes the Cyborg? Personally, I like the ideas of perhaps Noob's old body, the subbies' father, or just a straight artificial Sub Zero 'borg.

That Sub Zero sig does look awesome.
So does Quan Chi in the pic. I agree he should look like that. I think given the way the rest of the game has played out visually, I think we can expect something darker than the past (pretty sure we haven't seen him yet right?).

1. I didn't mean to come across as spiteful if I did.
2. Ehhh, I'm not so sure about that. I mean opinions can be wrong if it's like "I think the color blue is more yellow", but when it comes to stuff like "the cyborg storyline is pure crap!" or "Sub-Zero has the best storyline out of all MK characters" it gets tricky. In this case, even if you have stuff to back it up, it's not a fair fight since we haven't seen what purpose Cyber-Zero has.
3. This goes along with 2. It's not fair to assume they haven't thought up a decent or better than storyline. To be honest, I don't feel Sub-Zero's storyline is any better or worse than my boy Scorpion or even the lame Liu Kang. It's not a fair argument at all because we have not been told of anything other than the existence of Cyber-Zero.
P.S. Damn your fancy way of knowing how to separate quotes on this site!

The term I think everyone is looking for is "ultimately unverifiable," and that does apply. I just don't believe something necessarily has to be a fact to be considered right or wrong. In the grand scale, unverifiability covers... well, almost everything, if not everything, so I don't think that means we should suspend judgment on abstract issues, such as art and morality.
Cyborg Hero posted a definition of 'opinion' earlier, and in a nutshell, it said that any belief not grounded in certainty is an opinion. Thing is, that definition isn't useful because "certainty" is it's own mess. It just takes the problem back a stage.
Anyway, it looks like everyone's cool now. It's important ya'll remember that nothing I say is meant to be a personal attack. The person who propagated this debate has long ditched anyway.

This is nothing new to me. I've been around for several years though I don't post very often. That said, I'm still entitled to my opinion about plots in fighters, and Mortal Kombat's plot isn't any deeper than the average 16-bit game's. Honestly, Mortal Kombat is right up there with Star Wars in terms of its crap-to-creativity ratio: it offered a few revolutionary visual effects back in a day when there wasn't much to write home about to begin with, and has been let off the hook since then for being written by Down syndrome apes with crayons stuck in their butts.

While it's true that at its core MK is your run-of-the-mill good vs. evil pulp story, I think it really has gone above and beyond to create a pretty big universe, and an interesting little mythology, and a myriad of interesting Saturday morning cartoon faces. It doesn't have to be particularly deep or complex as long as it entertains, and its plot does do that a sight beyond what a lot of other series do.
Anyway, from what I'm seeing, a very select few people are just reacting to the possibility that Sub could go cyber in the main plotline; if you ask me, most people here are projecting their belief that everyone would hate the concept of a Cyber-Sub onto others. I'm seeing very little rage towards the concept of the character itself, more towards the notion that that would be the direction that Kuai Liang's story goes. The theories regarding it being his brother's dead body, father, or something else, started pretty early on.
Since then, this whole thing's just been a back and forth of "WHY ARE YOU SO ANGRY?!?!"....when there was really very little raging going on to begin with. Personally, I've found this whole thread hilarious.

Don't see the point in making him look like a rotting corpse, even if he's supposed to be a necromancer. Quan Chi used to be an oni, show off more of those roots instead. That look's not bad, but I'd lose the red and keep the seafoam green color he's always had. Lose the huge shoulder spikes though. This isn't the 90's, no need to make him look like he's going to a GWAR concert.

krac_poe, your signature is awesome. That's my opinion.

krac_poe you should make a full render. That sig is sick, that is how CyZero should look in game.
I've had plenty of time to calm down over this, and actually began thinking level headed again. There is no way they would tarnish Sub-Zero. No way. They know they would alienate a huge chunk of the mk fans. I'm positive this is a what if thing, and if it isn't what if it'll be a nightmare Kuai Liang has after the escape, or a reanimated Bi Han corpse, or a sub clone, or Bi and Kuai's father or some shit like that. 43 days and counting. I'm very eager to see how it all turns out now.
Also Jaded-Raven, I'm loving your sig as well.

I just meant that I despise the possibility of Younger Sub going cyborg. I'm totally on board with the Noob's old body idea.
I had this concept (not created by me) saved when the first rumors of a cyber Sub-Zero started about a half a year ago.

I know it barely qualifies as a cyborg since it’s mostly armorless, spare the torso and a few other parts. But I thought it has a nice interesting look, almost like it stopped half way.
Although the leg armor looks very difficult to move in, even for a cyborg.
