Derailment aside, hopefully they would add more significance to his story. I still say that whole segment with him & Taven was a really cheap method to make rain seem important. This is utter bias from my point of view because I never liked where the series was heading storyline or gameplay wise with the Armageddon installment anyway so take that for what it's worth.

You are wrong,sir. Rain is the son of Argus,the protector God of Edenia,which has nothing to do with Edenian royalty. For him to be called prince he needs to be blood related to Kitana,Sindel,King Jerrod,etc.

Not so fast. There are ways. E.g. there is a chance that Queen Sindel is Prince Rain's long-lost purple-clad mortal Edenian mother. In respect of how often "coincidental" connections occur between the MK characters (GKL➜KL, Jerrod➜Ermac) a revelation in MKX – where Rain might be featured – is a possibility. When Sindel had a perfect alibi loyalty-wise, nobody suspected her thus she got the chance to make love with a god. She must still have a libido with that body, and MK is largely about vices.

That's not impossible...but it's just a theory.

As far as current canon's concerned, there's no proof that Rain's an actual prince, therefore he's using the word wrong.

Besides, saying that Sindel cheated on Jerrod would undermine an awful lot about her character.

There is as much proof for that as saying that Onaga is a king, because neither does he have any known royal relatives. However, this doesn't disprove the royalty of either character: We just don't know yet. Therefore you can't shoot down the possibility and claim that the canon is going by false terms. Maybe the prince title is fraudulent, but that is not for a fact.Explaining how it really went would call for a fan fiction writer. Perhaps she wasn't herself at the time for a reason or another. Nonetheless, this would go according to the official information we have been given at the least.

Saying Rain's parents aren't royalty isn't a theory, it's canon.

IF they at a later date say "Oh, his mom is Sindel", THEN it'll no longer be canon that he isn't a prince. But that will be a retcon because right now, it's an accepted canon truth that Sindel was in love with and loyal to only Jerrod and the only other man she's been with is Shao Kahn and that was by force.

But right now, it's canon that he isn't a prince.
P.S. Onaga is a king because he RULED A KINGDOM. Don't be dense.

However, you don't know who Rain's mother is, so you cannot say that.

I know he did, and I'm not saying that Onaga isn't a king. But I'm neither saying that Rain isn't a prince. Onaga did rule a kingdom since his title is "king" but we don't actually know anything about his monarchy, heir and whatnot – if such even existed. Earthrealm has had plenty of princes of different monarchies too; I don't see why Rain couldn't belong to another monarchy alternatively. The point is that there are canon, plausible ways.

Because "canon" consists ONLY of the things that are factually known. Anything else is not canon.

If you can't find a statement anywhere in-game that says she's Rain's mom, then she's currently NOT.

"Plausible" things, theories and speculation, are not canon. They are fan fiction.


Canonically, Edenia has only ever had a singular government within Rain's lifetime. It's not divided into countries or territories, Jerrod and Sindel ruled the entire realm.

I disagree. The canon hasn't for example said that Cage has had a lot of girlfriends in his lifetime – however you cannot rule that possibility out.The same applies to Rain's royalty.

That's not what I'm getting at really anyway, but the realm that preferred monarchy could have had sub-kingdoms to ease Jerrod and Sindel's job.

Low on her part. How do you actually know that? That's the thing; you don't. That's why it is foolish and condescending to shoot down the possibilities and make your own conclusions that contradict the official information.

Your opinion is irrelevant, the definition of "canon" is what it is. And that definition covers only what is written, what is fact. To quote Wikipedia, "canon is the material accepted as "official" in a fictional universe."

You can speculate about Johnny Cage's past loves all you like, but the only one that's a canon fact is the ex-wife listed in his MK1 bio, named Cindy Ford.

Similarly, you can speculate about Rain's parentage, but that doesn't make your speculation valid information about the games. The games don't say Sindel is his mom, therefore, she is currently not. Therefore, he is not an Edenian Prince, he is a man who goes around misusing the word "prince" to make himself sound more important than he really is.

That's just how it works. Perhaps you simply need to learn the difference between a fact and an opinion.

It's foolish of me to just stick with factual evidence rather than something that a fan made up, or to think about that kind of stuff happened to the said character alone? Oh, okay, I didn't think that's how it works.



Very little will I side with Razor, but I'm siding with him on this one. You can't just sit here and say that a character has done this, this, and this when there is absolutely nothing that backs your case up.

Oh, it's just an opinion that you think could come true? No, I'm sorry, but that is foolish. Do we, the fans, need to know every little detail about a character? Who they shared their first kiss with? How many people they've done things with? No, that's the kind of detail that has no significance to care about, nor is it important to even wonder why.

Take that kind of stuff to the fan submissions then if you really want to show these characters have an actual life.
