I hope this wasn't mentioned before (to save myself an electronical ass raping from some of you who expect me to search every page in every thread).
Perhaps the gemstone within the amulet is a fragment of Kryptonite and the MK side happen to discover its power to weaken Superman...?
If the MK Team uses that "excuse" aside from magic... hopefuly we can see Quan Chi in the game
(NOT Onaga and NOT Shinnok - my own biased opinion of course).
(and no, cricling the obvious wasn't necessary, but I did it anyway)

I think magic hoohah was mentioned just because it's so much cleaner than introducing kryptonite into the MK universe, and all it implies.
Both require a bit of give, but magic wackiness throwing everyone out (to degrees eerily resembling the concessions of a video game!...) doesn't have the baggage.
Nice enough a thought, but probably more trouble than it's worth.

How the hell would it be so much trouble granted the game isn't canon (Might I add, only a fucking idiot would make this game canon *stares at Ed Boon*)? It doesn't require an elaborate change to the story of Mortal Kombat. It's just a damn gem. Sheesh.

You just defeated your own idea...
Why bother with bullshit explanations for game mechanics that reference established mythology? It's just a damn Superman fighting in a damn video game during some damn magic that brought together damn universes where there's a damn gem in a damn amulet that may or may not be a piece of a damn mineral from a damned damn alien planet!

Hardly. We damn already know they're going to try and damn explain why Superman's damn powers are going to be damn weakend. So I'm simply pointing out that the damn gem in the damn amulet might be temporarily referenced as a damn peice of damn kryptonite since the damn color is green. This damn way Ed Boon can back-up their damn reason for defeating Superman other than just blaming it on damn magic all the damn time. Now why don't you damn explain why it would be so much damn trouble to do that for the sake of this damn game?

... yeah................... but his gem isn't really associated with power like the amulet. Oh fuck it.
Now everyone is going to point out a green gem in the history of Mortal Kobmat and totally shit all over my what used to be my half descent explanation as to why Superfaggot and the DC Butt Buddies are ruining my love for MK.

Really good theory, you can't say anything in this forum without someone biting your head off
When actually would they have gotten their hands on a piece of Kryptonite in the MK universe? You know that Kryptonite are fragments of the destroyed planet Krypton, right?
And since Krypton doesn't exist in the MK realm, there's no possible way that any Kryptonite could've been used to make any sort of amulette.

Isn't Ed Boon's excuse that DC is from another realm and it merges... and has MK not been for realm traversing with the use of portals?
You don't think they can't bake up a story like that? Come on now.

Interesting concept, doubt it'll happen but interesting idea.

zOMGoro its not cannon so Y explayn???
Magic:
Everyone's a little off kilter, and we get on with a story/game...
Kryptonite:
Shinnok inexplicably obtains a shard of an alien planet that now exists much farther in the past and may or may not have mystic properties that it otherwise never has. Which now also more specifically prys open the pandoras box of multiple Earths and how this now defines what the realms are and implies there are potentially other populated planets in each realm and each realm might have an Earth which means there might be a Krypton in each realm which means there might be Supermen in other realms which means we should've just glossed over with the magic thing and accepted in-game mechanics of a fight game, just like we do when gods and monsters fight street cops and actors.
Oh my god! I just realized that an Emerald is also a green stone. Therefore, we can now confirm that Pokemon will be in this game!
Also, Jade must be in the game since she's also green and therefore Superman is weak to him.
Also, Reptile!
My god, you've blown the whole game wide open!

Why is everyone acting like a bunch of dumb fucks? You act as if I am trying to convince you that this will in fact be part of the game when all I did was point out a slim possibility since Ed Boon seems a bit desperate to convince these two universes can indeed collide.
Now that I know you apes are going to jump all over my ass like the average forum faggot, I would like this thread closed because it's obviously not going to go anywhere.

I don't think he's desperate just trying to explain a million times WHY they're colliding....
Also, on a personal note. At least Midway/DC are actually going to explain WHY this is happening unlike MVC's, SC's crossovers......
