I think this is fake. I don't believe that is an email from John Vogel. And I believe the thread creator should have his dragon points taken away. Sorry, but it is just awfully hard to believe this isn't fake cuz it has been stated that character specific video's are unlockable, and there is that Ermac Bio Koncept Video in the Krypt, so I'm sure there are fmv bio's in the game. Either this guy is bullshiting, or his "friend" is.

Not necessarily. They may have been added in in the beginning, but could've been taken out at the last second. Things intended to be in games HAVE been known to be taken out, and even if they didn't add them in, there HAS been cases where someone promises something for the game, but it doesn't make it (Fable fans can attest to that), so you can't automatically call it fake.

If it's true, I hope these bios will be on the web, and not downloadable content only by PS2 online... :/

And I suppose there won't have traductions in French, German, Italian, etc, like it was for MKDA and MKD bios... sad

I would VERY much appreciate some bios, because, as it stands, 62 characters suddenly and miraculously just appeared, some from the dead, and started fighting each other. No character was given a set-up, and few were given closure. Bios would GREATLY make the story more enjoyable. I'm all for it. I'll sign any petition, because, whether higher-ups realize it or not, MK has a great story, but it was lost in hindsight. Bring on the bios!

This really bums me out. If this letter is true then the stupid ? mark in the krypt will lead us to nothing. And while I can understand their are times when you have to do what your told. That still doesnt excuse horrible endings that leave every character wide open. He atleast could have ended every character with good endings instead of something my little bro came up with.

Hopefully a portal guard can sticky this petition idea of yours and we can shove it up Midway's asses to give the greenlight for Vogel and them to create a story.

This isn't surprising.

MK is Midway's big money-maker. They've always had to rush their projects to get them done by a deadline. I'm sure the MK team didn't want to copy and paste the MK:DA and MK:D characters into their new game. And I'm sure the team from the beginning wanted to elaborate deeply on the stories and bring back other nostalgic elements and such for the final MK of this generation.

But what needs to be understood is that people like Boon and Vogel have bosses. And their bosses have bosses. The way a business is run is that you do what you're told. But if the MK team could do more of what they wanted, the longer MK fans would have to wait for their game, and the longer Midway (and the bosses) would have to wait to cash in on it.

People blame Boon and Vogel for stuff that they can't help, and often times things they aren't even responsible for!

Anyway, thanks to Vogel for responding to that email (he's always been cool) and I'll gladly sign any petition anybody puts up for online bios.

What people seem to forget when talking about how all the dead guys came back is Onaga's heart. Now lets assume Havik got a hold of it. He would bring every fighter back to life to cause more Chaos.

It's a massive plot device, but it works.

I have to admit I'm not suprised there is no bios in the game. 124 bios with detailed pictures in the background? There's no way they disc could hold that on top off everything else that was in the game.

It's not Midway's boss who's testing the game. It's the team.

In 1 day,

1 Day! glitches like free throws and infinites have been found.

Bottom line,

Ed Boon failed again and he should resign.

we should give vogel the transcript to the entire "character story END thread" to point him in the right direction

maybe the Wii version will get bios and real endings and a little bit of a more ramped up KAK (essentially the Wii exclusive wil be a non-rushed feeling game)
I forwarded the email my friend sent me to Darque Bishop. (Don't know if I spelled it right, sorry!) So that way he can know for sure that it's John Vogel's email.

Thanks for the info PNF. Sorry I didn't read the whole thread, but you know Vogel should have no excuse. This guy gets paid the big bucks to do what he does, write the story. I have seen brilliant writing in the Charcter Speculation threads from everyday people who aren't paid by Midway. I can understand higherups making the poor decision to abondon bios and how that may have deviated from Vogel's story, but your telling me you can't make this work? This is your excuse for piss poor endings? For abandoning the MKD storyline? BS Vogel, you have to do better than this.

Anyways online bios would be sick and I await the resolution of the MKA storyline.

Guys, MKA should just be considered non-canon. Writing a storyline that tries to explain all the resurrections would just be ridiculous. MK8 can continue the aftermath of MKD. What is wrong with that?

good point but for some reason MK8 feels like it's going to be something that only has vague references to the past battles like people talking about old legends and stuff MKD could be resolved through that but i don't think so

P.S. i just signed you MK comics petition #30 hooray!

Its very easy for Midway to take the blame for the failures of this game, the story, characters, special moves, fatalities, engine etc, the list goes on. Midway is a very convenient scapegoat and I for one am not buying into this crap. The game is ultimately the developers responsibility and saying that it wasn’t in their power is just a lame excuse. This only further solidifies that they knew their product didn’t pass the quality control standards, to them Mortal Komabt Armageddon was just an extra boost to their balance sheets and profit and loss accounts.
Save the excuses please, we all know already.

I'll go ahead and say this now. Not much of the game is good. Sure, it's fun. But compared to the other games, it's crap. So why not demand a little more justice and get atleast SOME storyline besides the crap "Whoever beats me gets their all-entire greatest wish granted! OOOOOOOO!"

I'll sign the petition and I'll get others I know who play MK to do so, as well.

It was so hyped up to be the last MK with most of the current characters that it's impossible to consider it non-canon.

Well when it comes to Onaga and Reptile, yeah, that's pretty fucked up.

As for Frost, what's going on with her is just fine. Kabal and Mavado, that could be easily explained.

Agreed. He's like the exact opposite of Boon.

I have a business proposition for Midway. Have them release an official Mortal Kombat bible. Include the official chronology, the backgrounds and detailed game-by-game bios for each of the characters and maybe neat little details and designers' comments a-la Bio Kards. Finally, allow Vogel and his team of writers to have their way and explain what the hell REALLY happened in Armageddon. This kind of thing has been done before (MK3 Kollector's Guide,I believe),and the MK Team was always notorious for the fanservice,so why not give complete closure to this chapter of the MK Saga (the closure that should've been in the fucking game in the first place)? It's a win-win situation. The reasons for that are as follows:

1) The production values are minimal - it's text illustrated by already existing sketches and renders, for crying out loud. Merchandise and collectable items are a worthy investment. All of the Japanese companies seem to know that.

2) It will make for a highly desirable collector's item, especially if released in limited quantities. I can assure that every hardcore MK fan who respects the MK Saga and was, thus, disappointed by MKA's storyline will buy himself a copy. Please realize that these people are the core of the MK fanbase. Without their support and undying love for the game, the MK series would inevitably stagnate and die. They were promised closure, and offering them a huge "fuck you" instead wasn't very nice. This bible, should it ever see the light of day, will show them that you still care. Hell,I'll personally go out and buy two copies. If that thing ever comes to fruition,I'll be anticipating it more anxiously than the actual game. smile

PS: Vogel freaking rox0rz. I've always been saying that. =)
