Thanks, glad you get the point(as always mr. sarcastic)
@ RazorEdge, couldn't have said it better myself dude. It's almost as crazy as some other trivial things some people complain about like ohh Flash's lips....lol I guess these guys are supposed to be "beautiful" too now...the funny thing is it's not even "just MK fans" anymore it's also cases of "DC haters" or people ignorant to both series. Some people think the MK fanbase(some I'll admit is true) are ignorant to DC, ha, ha, ha check out DC's sites....same thing except it's the other way around. One guy said somewhere I remember that Scorpion, Sub and Ermac "are the same thing" ha, ha, ha....I was laughing for an hour on that one.

I said I never recognized him.
I never knew he existed until the JLU cartoon, after my kids saw this little boy "turning into a Super-Man".
Calm the jets. sheez

Well yea, that, and the Power Rangers. Lol!
I never knew anything about C. Marvel until the cartoon so, I don't see the "shazzam" about him. Last time I heard shazzam had Shaq screaming the word.
Stales the character to me, along with the fact that it's not hard to tie Superman and Flash together. I'm more surprised that they're putting him in the game with Flash and Superman in there. Seems like a pallete swap of it's own kind in my book.
Whatever, I care more about dirty laundry than this character. My opinion on the render stands.

I wonder if we're supposed to be really impressed or something because I gotta say I'm not. Liu's is way better.

I can't wait to play as CM online and blast haters. He's a top tier power fighter just like Supes.

Yeah...I have to say I honestly don't see a palette swap with Flash, Supes and C. Marvel...the lightning bolt on his chest is a lot different then Flash's(especially the meaning) and MINION, brinkly etc already brought up the other differences with Supes and C. Marvel.
Now, with MK at least AT FIRST with Sub, Scorp, Reptile, Smoke, Ermac etc I admit but not now(they all look very different)
Same with SF's Gii-Karate characters like Ryu, Ken, Gen, Akuma, Dan etc

Uh... the reason it says 'Shazam' render is because DC is not allowed to promote Captain Marvel as Captain Marvel, as Marvel registered the name. They can call him Captain Marvel inside the comics and the game, but not when promoting it, hence the titles of CM's books always contain 'Shazam!' in them somwhere. He'll be called 'Captain Marvel' in the game alright, but he CANNOT be called by that name on the site or the game's cover. (They might have broken copyright rules by announcing him as Captain Marvel, actually, but I doubt anything will come of it.)

No copyright rules have been broken I don't believe, early on it wasn't a problem and still don't understand that whole "Marvel ordeal", it's just a stupid thing that Marvel made out of nothing...his original name was always Cap Marvel from DC comic created back in the late 30's. Cap Marvel was out long before Marvel comics came into existence. He's called Cap Marvel on other sites out there if you look but some are worried I guess about the silly "copyright" with his name.... The render that is. If I'm DC I'd say fuck Marvel if they have a problem with it, too bad. Not to mention DC could have made a stink if they wanted to about Spider-Man 2 movie when he says "Shazam" .....I thought that was dumb lol.The character was made before Marvel was even a thought back in 1939 I believe......

My understanding is that Marvel registered the trademark for Captain Marvel not too long after Fawcett got shut down by DC (re: Superman infringement).
I don't really know how much of that comes about from the lapse of print, or developing laws surrounding intellectual property, but the specifics seem pretty clear cut.

I rather have superboy instead of CM but w.e.

Ok, well it is clear cut and I also just read more about it via wiki and google concerning that incident.
Ahh I see, but my only question that ramains is that since Captain Marvel is a DC character (always has been as you know) despite that ordeal with Fawcett why wasn't DC themselves weren't more insistent to keep it/not alter the name all together? Ehh whatever lol
Do you know when Marvel comics was even officially started? I'm pretty certain it's many years after Cap. Marvel was created but not sure which year exactly. I'm sure you know off hand since you know comics more then anyone I've ever met.

Marvel were Timely Comics (39-50) and Atlas Comics (51-57), and took their new name from Marvel Comics, which was a title originally printed in 1939 [featuring the famous Human Torch cover].
DC didn't take total ownership of Captain Marvel until 1991, so they weren't even in the picture during Marvel's claim to the trademark. Fawcett were forced to stop printing in the mid-fifties, and didn't license Captain Marvel to DC until the early-seventies, so nobody was really using the character for that twenty year period.
Just to clarify -- Captain Marvel has not always been a DC character!
He entered print with DC in '72, joined the core universe in '86, and become an official DC property in '91.
Marvel established their Captain Marvel in the mid-sixties [1967] - smack in the middle of the lapse in print (post-Superman intellectual rights suit).
Battles over ownership were probably curbed by the fact that Marvel had substantially established their registered trademark by the time Captain Marvel returned to print.
As a registered trademark, DC simply can't market Captain Marvel, which is why titles usually revolve around the Shazam trademark. Referring to the character by name (ie; in the comics) is presumably grey area by various means, not the least of which would be precedent.
I feel like I remember something about an agreement between DC and Marvel, but I've probably got that wrong. It's not out of the realm of possibility -- they co-own trademarks like "superhero" -- but I don't know.
Because it's being licensed to Midway, he'll presumably be Shazam in a lot references [in MK vs DCU].

Ohh ok, wow lol that's a lot of backstory concerning the character.
20 years of none usage? That's a while lol. Ok, I got ya so he wasn't "always" a DC character but just most of the time, not all the time during his existence. That's interesting.
I also find the fact that both DC and Marvel have/had versions of Cap Marvel. That's pretty cool.
Thanks for the info, very interesting.
