Yep. I agree. Avatar the Last Air Bender did an excellent job with cinematics, and elemental//martial arts intertwinings as well. I think they should take note here too.
Problem is, video games take so long to make, that by the time they took heed to these things, the method of execution would again seem old. Which is also something I think they'd benefit from working on.
Don't make the next game better than what's going on right now, make the game better than what these current games, indicate..... is coming.
I think that's also a part of the reason why this one doesn't seem "new//fresh". Aside from the nostalgia, iconography, novelty, and all that jazz.
But yea I see your point on the Naruto thing. I prefer Avatar though...more action.

I really hope Midway will work on the Fatalities in future games. Right now SF4 is already introducing very cinematic, not Finishers, but Ultra combos.
They look really amazing.

Wow, that would be brilliant... if Street Fighter II hadn't established conceptual ties with Dragonball a decade and a half ago, (the emotional beginning of the series), before it was extrapolated to that flashing logical conclusion, just a few years later. It'd be an even better retort if SF wasn't a much better game, too.
Fatality looks nice, but yeah. Nearly half a year into the promotional cycle, I think we're more than beyond hyping interests with new versions of old ideas.
Constantly stringing the process out with plodding, incremental headlines is getting a little tiresome. They've probably given too much away with previous games, so if there's truth to the claims of '80%' unrevealed, then that's probably a step up. Just a shame the schedule couldn't be coordinated a bit better, pushed back, so as to cast a fuller illusion of materials as they're trickled out.
Scorpion breathes fire and saves the fat princess. Yays!
