An honest opinion...
The longer ANTM goes on without an update, the more I think this might not have been such a good idea. Perhaps I should rephrase that... I still like the idea, but an idea being good is only one portion of the idea actually being successful.

Perhaps next time you pick the Head judge of ANTM should be one who isnt awfully busy with their lives outside of MKO. You cant honestly find someone so commited to this site other than the new users. The whole concept (ANTM) is a wonderful idea, though.

Hosting really isn't what I was referring to there... the time that has passed since the current round began has really made me think twice about just hiring anyone that can win this competition. Initially, I didn't have much concern about the competition failing to find the best candidate for being a Shadow Priest... but now I have my doubts about that.

The competion is a much better way of rooting out someone suited for SP positioning (I believe), rather than just selecting someone who is "behaving well and applying the forum rules to their posts" kind of thing. People dont' like to hear it, but bias is huge on this forum, and having the mods/SP select someone for a new position would just get everyone riled up (especially if a huge portion of the community doesn't agree. Chan_Ming, remember?). I think the competition shows people's true colors, and I'm glad that a it's been a while since the last update, because not only do the Head Judges see what the contestants are really like, but also do the members of MKO.

It's too bad I don't particularly like what I see. There's not really a truly effective way of selecting people to work on this site. Sometimes you make a mistake, sometimes you get lucky. This competition might "help" show people's true colors, but it's a very long process to actually go through each time a selection will be made.
Don't forget... there are still "judges" that send people on to the next rounds, and all these judges are mods/SPs. So what's the difference of a group just selecting people without this tournament if a "bias" is already said to exist? Wouldn't the same bias carry over to this contest as well?
Anyway, I suppose it has done some "good", so far as letting me get to know more about people I was considering promoting in rank. But again... I have been more unhappy with that knowledge than happy.

"The People" always choose their leaders, down to minuscule factions like neighborhood watch committees. Smaller circles are never less bias. They're always more. Think about "Rules of a Hosehold" for instance...
Basically though, you want to challenge the "said bias" to see how true it is every now and again.....
So I guess the real possible answer here, is a question:
"How bias to you need the decision to be for the sake of the position// the greater good?"
An answer to the italics: More people influence the preliminaries, the more you're liable to influence the bias. "Data".
Point in all this is, though there may be some kind of bias no matter the end result, People can generally tell right from wrong. When you incorporate, or "use" the power of the people for this kind of thing, all you have left to question are two things: Morale(which should be easy to see on the forums), and Longevity(the challenge of time).
Then it just depends on your personal or systematic standards for the candidate of the position, since you have the final say.

Out of the contestants that are//were there, I have//had a few that I'd consider if I were to be a factor in the nominations more than just a voter. But I value "time" like the last drop in a desert, and the test of that time is something I absolutely would consider if I were you ~Crow~.
Irony plagues this message I know.
But at the same time, I really do agree with Xtactics on this one. Some personalities do not even begin to blossom until a common goal-in-competition is presented. Competition brings out the best and worst in people, and it's interesting to have those things out in the open before the candidate is chosen.....I've made similar decisions before, but never over the internet...go fig right?
