This will supposedly be the last Batman movie featuring Christian Bale, and directed by Chris Nolan, but to say it is the absolute last Batman movie is foolish. It's a hugely popular franchise. I couldn't see the movie franchise dying with how well Chris Nolan has done with his take on the franchise. I'm sure the movie studios will try and find someone to replace Chris Nolan if he really doesn't want to do another batman movie.
Although I think some people may argue that there really shouldn't be anymore Batman movies because Nolan has done the series justice, and just like Heath Ledger was irreplaceable as the Joker, Nolan has been equally valuable to the franchise.
[edit]: Just checking Chris Nolan's wiki page and noticed he's attached as writer & producer on the The Man of Steel (Superman Reboot)

Yea i said last in the series
And even if someone else does Batman its not going to as awesome like what Nolan did.
I think it should be left at that, leave it at a good ending
I have yet to watch The Dark Knight, but seeing what Nolan did with Inception and Batman: Begins, you can't go wrong with The Dark Knight.
Keep in mind that Nolan is not leading the whole development of Man of Steel (Snyder being the director) even though he wrote it with David S. Goyer so don't blame him if Man of Steel will be like Superman Returns which would be unlikely though as long as Nolan is around.

[edit]: This looks interesting. I know a lot of talk on the internet right now about the prologue is that bane's voice sounds like shit, and weird as hell but it also sounds like he may be RussianPrague from the accent. I'm not too familiar with his back story from the comics, but it also seems like they're making him out to be a military soldier.

From the sound of the audio it sounded like the CIA called him the man from Prague, so that would make him from the Czech Republic.

The offical movie trialer has been released in HD Dark Knight Rises Trailer HD
As logical as it does sound and makes entire sense. I don't think Nolan would do that to fans and basically leave Bane being the one that wins in the end.
I personally think Bane will actually end up breaking Batman early on in the movie, to have him get help from Ra's Al Ghul and use the Lazarus pit to heal him so he can fight and beat Bane, and to finally inspire Gotham City to stand up for itself like he wanted to in the first movie. For one, if the movie was to end with Bane breaking Batman, I think we wouldn't have any kind of dialogue between Batman and Bane. In the recent trailer Bane remarks to a bloodied Batman " When Gotham is in Ashes, you have my permission to die". Also Bruce can be seen in a few different scenes looking very ill and also disheveled like he was recuperating (batcave scene). The name of the movie as well "Rises" implies that Batman will actually come back as well.

I fully expect Bane to break Batman's back, much like he did in the comics.
That way, it would be an "end" without killing Batman and officially closing absolutely all doors.

there's a number of things i'm speculating on in regards to the TDKR plot. The Dark Knight left us off with basically the Mob out of commission thanks to the alliance of Batman, Gordon, and Dent when charging the entire mob with that Rico charge testified by Lau. The nail was hit into the coffin with the Joker when he convinced Harvey Dent to go on his killing spree with one victim of that murderous spree being mob boss Sal Maroni. One of the many reasons why Batman took the blame for all those murders was to keep all the prisoners locked away for a long time and keep Harvey Dent's image as a hero intact, which I feel he successfully did.
DKR is now 8 years after those events. I am assuming that Harvey Dent is still revered as a true hero and Batman labeled as a monster. I wouldn't be surprised if Batman wasn't even in action for this entire time seeing as how all the smoke was cleared when the Joker was taken down. With this assumption I am to believe that Bruce Wayne would be making the headlines in the Gotham Times rather than Batman seeing as there would be peace. Judging by the trailer Gordon to the public would serve as more of a figure head rather than being an active commissioner and the city I believe would wish for him to retire... I am most definitely leaning towards us opening up in TDKR to a period of tranquility and peace in Gotham which was what Harvey Dent envisioned back when he was the DA.
It looks like all of that is going to crumble once Bane comes into play. Being a huge fan of the comics and familiar with how Bane is, he's going to be calling out the Bat by stirring a lot of things up in Gotham. In the trailer you see all criminals breaking through a brick wall. In Knightfall Bane used the tactic of breaking out all of Arkham's inmates into Gotham on top of arming them with fully automatic assault rifles and closely monitored Batman taking them down, and while doing so deduced Batman's identity to Bruce Wayne. It was until Batman was physically and mentally worn when Bane infiltrated the Batcave and symbolically "Broke The Bat." I feel Bane is going to be doing this in TDKR.
I feel this is going to be a LONG movie, i wouldn't be surprised with this film being over 3 hours long seeing as how The Dark Knight was 2 and a half hours long and still made me want more.
Chances are there are going to be two linear stories going on here just like how Knightfall was told. There were two arcs simultaneously going on with an injured Bruce Wayne and Alfred leaving the country for Bruce to recover, and Azrael with Robin in a chaotic Gotham to take down Bane. Obviously, we don't have Azrael... But we do have Catwoman in Gotham. I feel that Batman is going to return to his roots in this film stemming back to Batman Begins, while Catwoman works with Gordon in taking back Gotham from Bane.
When Bruce becomes whole again I think we are in for a ride in the final showdown with Batman and Bane....
Fuck... why does this movie have to come out in July of next year?

so hyped for this movie. I'm replaying the Arkham games, re-reading Knightfall, buying Batman T's, listening to the Batman Arkham City Album, rewatching the Batman movies, Batmanning the Batman Batman, Batman, Batman Batman and also Batmanning the Batmans
So hyped! Its sitting at 96% at Rotten Tomatoes right now too.

hyped and a half
I think you forgot to mention the thing about batman.
Also, I am not hyped to see this at all. Just not much of a batman fan. And where did the sudden fad with people and batman come from? I'm not saying you are part of that. I'm talking about the people that all the sudden like batman out of no where. People these days.
Hope the movie lives up to your hype, though. Enjoy!

When Batman got revamped is when people jumped on the bandwagon. Its darker, grittier, and somewhat more realistic. I guess people got tired of the cartoonish style of superheroes and wanted something like what Batman has become. Heath Ledgers performance of the Joker was phenomenal and his death makes it seem like nobody can top it or that particular batman movie at all. Which makes the third movie intriguing enough to watch. Can Nolan's third and last batman movie give the series justice after how awesome the second movie was? I know I'm gonna watch it. Hopefully opening night.

Not going to lie here, I'm not terribly excited for this movie. I'm sure it will be good, but I'm not interested.
Never been a Batman fan, not going to start here.

Finally Catwoman appears! And Anne Hathaway is gorgous, nice pick for her. I hope she will do some action and fighting scenes in this.

I second that. Anne Hathaway is one of of the most beautiful talented actresses today. I'd give my left nut to be with a woman like her. Talia al Ghul is suppose to be in this movie but IDK who was cast to be her. I'm sure they picked someone extremely beautiful.
